When I was looking for a care home for my uncle I looked at a good few before visiting Eridge House, and what a find, it was a real gem of a place. As soon as I set foot inside there was a friendly family atmosphere and I knew that this was the place he would soon call 'home' and I was right. He settled
quickly. the staff were delightful and caring, not only the care staff but the office and kitchen staff too, they all treated him as they would their own family. Eridge House is very homely with a large lounge and conservatory and they do so much with the residents such as quizzes, bingo and regular visitors and entertainers. Right to the end the staff supported and cared for my uncle through his last days. I would not hesitate to recommend Eridge House as a home for your loved ones.

What a gem of a care home Eridge House is. From the moment I stepped through the door I knew this was the place I wanted my uncle to live. I feel extremely fortunate that he was accepted as a resident. It is home from home. The staff are so kind caring and supportive towards him. The food was good quality,
home cooked lots of choice. We were offered food when visiting as well. Always so much going on in the home, activities arranged daily, exercise classes, music dancing, quizzes, and visiting pets to name a few. The management team were impressive with their professional approach and friendliness.

My mother, aged 93, has been living at Eridge for a year. As I live at quite a distance away it has been comforting knowing she is happy and well cared for, with wonderful staff, lots of new friends, and quality home-cooked food.
Mum's working life included many years as a carer herself. She was brilliant
at that job and would not have settled for anything less than what Eridge House provides. Every time I visit (including very recently) she has reaffirmed the decision she made to live there, backed by my sisters and I. We are all so happy that we have done the best for our mum, as she had done for us.

Eridge House is a home-from-home care home where everybody from Management to all the staff are kind and friendly and mindful of individual needs with a good sense of humour. Difficult situations are treated with kindness and respect. The various activities on offer keep the mind and body in shape.

I needed to find a convalescent/care facility for my previously fully independent mother after she sustained a stroke. I was personally recommend to contact Eridge House based on its reputation for home-from-home care and very kind, empathetic and well-trained staff. From the moment I picked up the
phone and called their manager I have been so impressed with every aspect of the care service Eridge House provides. My mother has complex and changing care needs which Eridge House have taken in their stride with compassion and professionalism. She is very happy in their care. I would highly recommend it.

My uncle was very nervous about leaving his home of over 50 years. he has settled really well into Eridge House and we couldn't have asked for more. He has made friends and enjoys spending his time in the communal areas. We can't recommend the home enough the staff work so hard.

You could ask for a nicer home the staff are friendly, helpful and very supportive. My uncle can be very anxious and they always ensure he is okay. He loves the food and enjoys the staff taking the time to listen to his stories. I couldn't have asked for more, he misses his home but feels very happy
and safe.

My dear sister has been at Elridge House since July 2023. She is very happy and the care and the dignity afforded to her has been second to none, and stimulating for her. She is now 93 years of age and it was a great change for her as she lived alone with little care, and it got to the stage where she
needed more help. Her family decided Elridge House was the place which would suit her. She has always been a very independent lady who also was a great care worker herself until she retired and so I know she is in a very caring and loving home. She is happy and feels secure. P.S. The food is wonderful too, which she enjoys.

From my first telephone contact, I have been confident in the professionalism, experience and capability of the management and staff teams. My stepfather was not keen on having respite, but we were supported to visit as many times before his stay as needed and at all times have been made to feel welcome.
The stable staff and management team speaks volumes and the benefits of this are clearly reflected in the experiences of residents. The home is relaxed and staff clearly have a good rapport and interact with residents. The menu is varied and all cooked on site and a good range of activities offered to those that wish to participate. The fact that my stepdad is happy to visit again says it all!

The rest home is very good I feel safe and are for and secure. I am blind so not always able to see what is about me. All the staff are very friendly, and sometimes some of the residents understand I am blind. But the carers know and always support me.

I felt completely at home from the time I arrived. I found everywhere in the property was extremely clean and well maintained. The food was excellent with lots of choice with main courses. All the staff, from the office, management to the dailies were always on hand to help and advise.

My mum was at Eridge House for 12 months. I had been recommended to Eridge by several of my friends. I have been so happy with the care my mum received, prior to her sadly passing away recently. The staff took time to know about Mum, her likes and dislikes. They took time to spend time with her. Her
keyworkers were amazing, and always went above and beyond. She always had cups of tea on demand, and Mum loved the variety of food. We were always kept up to date by the managers. What's not to love about Eridge?

My 93-year-old mother has been a resident since June 2023. Prior to this, she had home visits and a taster day to assess suitability. She has dementia and was unable, even with home carers to be safe in her own home. I cannot praise the care and attention that was shown highly enough, through this initial
stage or indeed since. The managers, key workers and all staff are professional, friendly and sensitive to their resident's situations. My mother has increasingly required additional care which has not caused a problem for the home, who continue to assess and meet her changing needs. The home makes immediate contact when necessary e.g. when my mother had an accidental fall and an ambulance had been called. Staff stayed with her until paramedics arrived and after her overnight stay in hospital, nothing was too much trouble for the home in providing ongoing care. For my mother and no doubt, the other residents, Eridge House provides a safe, comfortable and happy environment.

Heidi

Heidi Haddow

Job Title: Proprietor Joined: 1988

Heidi has a wealth of experience in the health and social care sector, including working as a manager of a care home prior to becoming the proprietor of Eridge House.


In Heidi's words... I have had the privilege of owning Eridge House since 1988. I have lived in Bexhill for most of my life and for ten years I held the post as a trustee for two local charities which I found most rewarding. One of my biggest achievements is seeing the development of Eridge House from registration of fourteen in 1988 to that of forty-three older people today. Embracing the changing ways in which we work, and the diverse and skilled team led by our Directors and Managers.

Laura

Laura Witham

Job Title: Director Joined: 2018

Laura is responsible for managing the management team and working closely with Heidi to oversee the running of Eridge House as a business, alongside Nicole.


In Laura's words... My first ever job was at Eridge House as a teenager. I went on to become a Care Assistant here, obtained my NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care, and after a few years away I returned as manager in 2018 until 2022 alongside Nicole. I thoroughly enjoyed my role here as manager and am thrilled to remain working at Eridge House, now in the role of Director. I have achieved my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care and have experience working in both a care home setting and as a domiciliary care provider. Working at Eridge House has always felt special. People often comment on the homely and friendly feel and that is something the entire team are dedicated to providing for all residents and their loved ones.

Nicole Witham

Nicole is responsible for managing the management team and working closely with Heidi to oversee the running of Eridge House as a business, alongside Laura.


In Nicole's words... When I was offered the job of Supper Assistant at the age of 14 at Eridge House I never imagined that I would become a Director here alongside my sister, Laura. After travelling and acquiring various work experience, I was delighted to return to Eridge House, first in the role of Accounts Manager, to then go on to become the Registered Manager, and now a Director. The friendly atmosphere makes Eridge an enjoyable place to work alongside our dynamic team. My role requires commitment, dedication, and diversity and this is incredibly rewarding. I have obtained my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care.

Rhia is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of Eridge House.


In Rhia's words... I started working at Eridge House during the first COVID-19 lockdown. I had every intention of staying on board as bank staff and returning to my old job, however, when I was offered a permanent role at Eridge House, I couldn't say no, I loved the homely feel and knew I would be happy here with such a good team around me and lovely residents. I have completed my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care and enjoy applying what I have learnt to my role as manager.

Marie assists Rhia with managing the home and provides support to our Care Assistants as part of her job role.


In Marie's words... I joined the Eridge House team in 2019 as a Senior Care Assistant and am thrilled to have progressed to the role of Assistant Manager, with the support of an amazing management team. I have worked in care for over 15 years and have gained my Level 3 NVQ in Health & Social Care, and have completed my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care.

Samantha Jenner

Alongside Marie, Samantha is responsible for assisting Rhia in managing the home and providing support to our Care Assistants in their role. “From the young age of 13, I found myself drawn to caring. I started out as a tea girl in a residential home, but what I hadn’t realised then was that it was a calling for a lifelong career. I have gained my Level 3 NVQ in Health & Social Care and Dementia qualifications and stepped into more complex roles and eventually into leadership. After working my way up the chain, I am now Assistant Manager. I really love working at Eridge House, especially the wonderful team and lovely residents”

Janet Towner

Janet is responsible for the financial aspects of running Eridge House and provides support on Human Resources matters for the team.


“I joined the Eridge House team in 2024 after working in the financial industry for 40 years, and I have really enjoyed getting to know the team and all the residents. I have worked with small businesses in my previous role and in the voluntary sector for so I hope this experience will benefit my contribution to Eridge House. I am happy to help residents and families navigate the journey of care home funding and reduce the worry during their dealings with us. Susan Bowden

Sue is responsible for making sure that Eridge House fully complies with all the relevant laws & regulations within the Health & Social Care Industry.


“I joined Eridge in April 2025, having worked in the financial industry for 33 years, with the last 7 years working within the NHS in an administrative role. Eridge has a lovely, homely feel, and there is a great Management team & amazing, caring staff who go over and above to make sure the residents' needs are met on a daily basis.
