My 93-year-old mother has been a resident since June 2023. Prior to this, she had home visits and a taster day to assess suitability. She has dementia and was unable, even with home carers to be safe in her own home. I cannot praise the care and attention that was shown highly enough, through this initial
stage or indeed since. The managers, key workers and all staff are professional, friendly and sensitive to their resident's situations. My mother has increasingly required additional care which has not caused a problem for the home, who continue to assess and meet her changing needs. The home makes immediate contact when necessary e.g. when my mother had an accidental fall and an ambulance had been called. Staff stayed with her until paramedics arrived and after her overnight stay in hospital, nothing was too much trouble for the home in providing ongoing care. For my mother and no doubt, the other residents, Eridge House provides a safe, comfortable and happy environment.

Eridge House management and staff go above and beyond to create a happy homely atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. The individual and communal areas are cleaned to a high standard, any faults are dealt with quickly. Activities are varied and cater for all abilities on a daily basis. Special
dates are celebrated. The menu is varied with choices at all meal times along with personal dietary requirements. The suppers are always freshly cooked and well-presented. Staff training seems to be ongoing, updating as required.
One of the best homes I have visited over many years of visiting friends and family, one I would highly recommend, and would wish for my final years.

Leaving your own home and familiar neighbourhood is very difficult, particularly emotionally., but life changes, and we have to adapt and make the most of it.
Eridge House, with its 30 residents, gives you the chance to meet interested people and make new friends.
The staff are extremely kind and
helpful and become friends too. There are excellent activities, which bring people together in one place. Kind owners bring their dogs in to visit - a great pleasure.
My favourite place is the conservatory, open to views of clouds and birds, and the trees and plants growing in the garden.

My aunt has been at Eridge House now for nearly 18 months. The care, support and help at this home is without fault. All the assistants go above and beyond to help in whatever the circumstances, from the office staff to the care workers. They make it feel like a proper home, not an institution. They
welcome visitors and keep relatives informed about everything going on in the home for the residents. I cannot fault Eridge House, just thank them.

All my needs are catered for. My key workers are always on hand to help and take care of anything I need. They are always happy and attentive. There are always lots of varied activities to suit different personalities. The choice of food is always good and the quality is excellent.

My mum needed to move into a care home and we looked at a number of different homes, but Eridge House had such a warm family feel to it. The staff are amazing, so giving and caring, and do all they can to help residents and make them feel at home. It is a really well organised home and Mum has a lovely
room which she is very happy with and regularly takes part in the different afternoon activities that are carefully organised, she loved when they brought different pets into the home. There is always such a warm welcome and any questions we have are answered and the staff are so lovely and helpful. I can really recommend Eridge House, it is a fantastic care home that feels like a family and I am so pleased my mum has settled in and is being so well looked after.

My mother was in need of full time care after leaving the hospital and I searched the area for a suitable care home. After visiting Eridge House it was obvious that it was exactly what I was looking for. Such lovely caring staff in a clean homely environment and perfect for her needs. They spent time
making sure she settled into her new home and nothing was too much trouble. Mum's health and general well-being has improved immensely over the time she has spent there and she has a great relationship with her carers. The weekly menu is well-balanced and has a good variety to suit everyone. Daily entertainment/activities take place every day to keep the residents happy and active. Overall I would recommend Eridge House to anyone looking for a quality care home.

My nan had a recent respite stay at Eridge House after a short stay in hospital. My family are not overly local and I wanted her to recover in a place that still felt like home and Eridge was that place. They welcomed my nan in with open arms. I cannot fault how clean the home was and my nan was extremely
complimentary on the meals she had whilst there, as well as how kind and caring all of the staff were. The team give you a family feel with a professional touch, I cannot thank them all enough and would recommend Eridge House to anyone!

I have always been greeted with a friendly welcome. The accommodation and staff are outstanding. The latter go out of their way to provide your wishes. When my son-in-law first came he said 'it's like a hotel'. The garden is a pleasant place to while away and meet your friends on a sunny day.

My wife stayed at Eridge House for respite in June 2022 and I cannot thank the staff enough for all they did for her. Everyone was very kind and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. She really enjoyed the activities and the food was excellent. It was a real 'home from home' feel, all staff and
residents seemed really happy there. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Eridge House.

My mother has been a resident at Eridge House since June this year and the staff have helped us all through the difficult period of mental capacity assessment, initial isolation, inclusion, and from then on ongoing support always with a friendly, caring attitude. With 2 specific carers assigned to my
mother, our family have always received timely updates relating to her health and well-being and when a doctor or nursing attendance has been required they have also been supportive. The link between the Care Home with NHS support couldn't be better. My mother understands that she needs to be in a Care Home and is always positive when speaking of the staff, management, food, facilities, and the wonderful garden outlook from her room. I am very pleased that we chose Eridge for our mother and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone who finds themselves in the position of trying to find a caring, friendly and supportive Care Home.

Heidi

Heidi Haddow

Job Title: Proprietor Joined: 1988

Heidi has a wealth of experience in the health and social care sector, including working as a manager of a care home prior to becoming the proprietor of Eridge House.


In Heidi's words... I have had the privilege of owning Eridge House since 1988. I have lived in Bexhill for most of my life and for ten years I held the post as a trustee for two local charities which I found most rewarding. One of my biggest achievements is seeing the development of Eridge House from registration of fourteen in 1988 to that of forty-three older people today. Embracing the changing ways in which we work, and the diverse and skilled team led by our Directors and Managers.

Laura

Laura Witham

Job Title: Director Joined: 2018

Laura is responsible for managing the management team and working closely with Heidi to oversee the running of Eridge House as a business, alongside Nicole.


In Laura's words... My first ever job was at Eridge House as a teenager. I went on to become a Care Assistant here, obtained my NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care, and after a few years away I returned as manager in 2018 until 2022 alongside Nicole. I thoroughly enjoyed my role here as manager and am thrilled to remain working at Eridge House, now in the role of Director. I have achieved my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care and have experience working in both a care home setting and as a domiciliary care provider. Working at Eridge House has always felt special. People often comment on the homely and friendly feel and that is something the entire team are dedicated to providing for all residents and their loved ones.

Nicole

Nicole Witham

Nicole is responsible for managing the management team and working closely with Heidi to oversee the running of Eridge House as a business, alongside Laura.


In Nicole's words... When I was offered the job of Supper Assistant at the age of 14 at Eridge House I never imagined that I would become a Director here alongside my sister, Laura. After travelling and acquiring various work experience, I was delighted to return to Eridge House, first in the role of Accounts Manager, to then go on to become the Registered Manager, and now a Director. The friendly atmosphere makes Eridge an enjoyable place to work alongside our dynamic team. My role requires commitment, dedication, and diversity and this is incredibly rewarding. I have obtained my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care.

Rhia

Rhia Laloo

Rhia is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of Eridge House.


In Rhia's words... I started working at Eridge House during the first COVID-19 lockdown. I had every intention of staying on board as bank staff and returning to my old job, however, when I was offered a permanent role at Eridge House, I couldn't say no, I loved the homely feel and knew I would be happy here with such a good team around me and lovely residents. I have completed my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care and enjoy applying what I have learnt to my role as manager.

Marie Freeman

Marie assists Rhia with managing the home and provides support to our Care Assistants as part of her job role.


In Marie's words... I joined the Eridge House team in 2019 as a Senior Care Assistant and am thrilled to have progressed to the role of Assistant Manager, with the support of an amazing management team. I have worked in care for over 15 years and have gained my Level 3 NVQ in Health & Social Care, and have completed my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care.

Samantha

Samantha Jenner

Job Title: Assistant Manager Joined: 2022

Alongside Marie, Samantha is responsible for assisting Rhia in managing the home and providing support to our Care Assistants in their role. “From the young age of 13, I found myself drawn to caring. I started out as a tea girl in a residential home, but what I hadn’t realised then was that it was a calling for a lifelong career. I have gained my Level 3 NVQ in Health & Social Care and Dementia qualifications and stepped into more complex roles and eventually into leadership. After working my way up the chain, I am now Assistant Manager. I really love working at Eridge House, especially the wonderful team and lovely residents”

Janet Towner

Janet is responsible for the financial aspects of running Eridge House and provides support on Human Resources matters for the team.


“I joined the Eridge House team in 2024 after working in the financial industry for 40 years, and I have really enjoyed getting to know the team and all the residents. I have worked with small businesses in my previous role and in the voluntary sector for so I hope this experience will benefit my contribution to Eridge House. I am happy to help residents and families navigate the journey of care home funding and reduce the worry during their dealings with us. Sue is responsible for making sure that Eridge House fully complies with all the relevant laws & regulations within the Health & Social Care Industry.


“I joined Eridge in April 2025, having worked in the financial industry for 33 years, with the last 7 years working within the NHS in an administrative role. Eridge has a lovely, homely feel, and there is a great Management team & amazing, caring staff who go over and above to make sure the residents' needs are met on a daily basis.
