Reviews

9.7 Cedarwood House has a Review Score of 9.7 (9.738)

The Review Score of 9.7 (maximum of 10) for Cedarwood House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Cedarwood House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.738 for Cedarwood House is calculated as follows: ( (83 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.738

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedarwood House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 4 positive Reviews (20 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 9 Reviews ÷ 4 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My father-in-law has Alzheimer's, the staff have an excellent understanding of the condition. He is treated with respect and I feel that they care about him. He is always clean and shaved and well presented, this means so much to us. Whenever you enter the care home it always smells nice and clean and I've visited at all different times and the standard is the same. As a family we feel that he couldn't be in a nicer place, this is important because the last thing we wanted to do was to have placed him in a care home but it turned out to be the right place for him and we know he's safe and well cared for and happy.

My father is 101 years old and recently moved into Cedar Wood House. Prior to the move, he lived with my wife and me for 18 months during which time he became self-imposed bedridden. Since the move, with staff encouragement, he is now getting up and walking with a frame. The ambience of the home is light and airy, the staff are always cheerful and helpful. It is a pleasure to visit my father.

We visited a friend, weekly, over a period of 2 years and always found the home welcoming. It was always clean with no unpleasant smell. All the staff are friendly, greet you and offer hospitality. There was always someone available to address queries, if any, concerning my friend (We were her main visitors). It is a very happy place and a lot of love is shown to each client and no difficulty is too much for the staff. They are patient and so very caring and polite with everyone. Staff were involved in a variety of activities with the clients and a musician goes in with a guitar and as many as are able joined in with the old songs. At times clients have been encouraged to join in a cooking activity, help in planting up pots and various times of year are celebrated. There are occasional outings, a summer fete, Christmas party and other specials. Birthdays are celebrated. Everyone seems to give over and above all they are asked.

All staff are caring, considerate, very patient and fully committed to the care of their residents. The home is spotlessly clean and tidy in all areas and the "personal" attention given to residents regarding catering and personal comforts is above first class.
We are comforted that my mother is so well looked after during this most difficult time of her life.

My mum has been resident at Cedarwood House since September 2012. The home is spotless and always smells fresh. My mother is always clean and dressed in matching colours. The staff from carers, cleaners and kitchen are great. They are a credit to the company.

Cedarwood House has made putting my father in law into a home relaxing, and given us peace of mind. The Manager has gone out of her way to help us, and when my father in law arrived she was there to greet us, My father in law has settled well and this is due to the lovely and caring staff they have there, the rooms are beautiful he says how lovely everyone is to him. He's enjoying the food and its all spotlessly clean. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to other people, it is a small home and this makes it much more personal, the staff know us as a family now and its only been a week. Fantastic Place, lovely and caring.

In the short time that Dad has been in Cedarwood we haven't seen or heard anything that would cause us to be concerned about his care. He is always clean and so are the other residents, everyone looks well fed and cared for. The staff are always positive and pleasant and there is a welcoming and upbeat atmosphere in the home. We have not noticed any unpleasant odours and any queries about the care have been well answered by the staff. The staff always seem to be in control of any situations without being oppressive in their responses. One or two areas do need a decorative refresh.

Mum is a new resident and I am extremely happy with the care and consideration provided. The home is the best I have viewed and its cleanliness and decor are more akin to a 5-star hotel. The staff are all very welcoming and accommodating of all my mothers and my own requests. She looks better and happier now than before she went into full-time care which is all I could have wished for. I have been encouraged to make my mothers room as homely as possible for her and nothing has been denied or compromised. It is early days but I have had a huge weight lifted from my shoulders and feel happy that my mother is safe and well cared for.

My Mum moved into Cedarwood House last year. My family and I have found the staff to be approachable, flexible and incredibly patient. Mum took a while to adapt to her new surroundings having been living alone in her own home for several years. The staff took care to get to know her and took on board our suggestions as to how best to deal with her if she was out of sorts. Mum is happy and well looked after- what more could we ask for? She has a lovely room that overlooks the countryside and is more than adequate for her needs. The staff at Cedarwood made a difficult transition easier for all concerned.
We made a good decision choosing this home.
