There is a warm and friendly atmosphere at Ashtonleigh. The staff are very friendly and helpful and have just given my mother the most marvellous party for her 100th birthday. My mother is happy and well cared-for at the home.

I found the clinical staff to be excellent and of a high standard. As a non practising RN I felt that the carers were of a high standard. Then I learnt that many were RNs in their own countries. This made sense with the high standard of nursing care delivered. The RNs themselves were friendly, communicative and professional. All this is important with our loved ones who may need total patient care. The nursing care is equivalent to any geriatric centre of excellence.

I was literally blown away by the hard work and organisation that went into the summer BBQ party. Everyone had such a wonderful time & the staff were exceptional in their ability to care for everyone as usual & put on so many activities. The standard was so so high, it really was.

In general the level of care my mum received is second to none. The staff really put the 'extra mile' in going the extra mile. They are kind, empathetic, so thoughtful & nothing is ever too much trouble.

From the day he arrived our friend loved Ashtonleigh, the care and attention has been excellent. His room is airy and the food first class. Every one of the staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. We attended the May Day celebration which was first class with great food, lots of entertainment and a great atmosphere.

So pleased that my special friend is in this lovely, caring home. This is the third home she has been in and by far the best. Staff are always very cheerful, the atmosphere is excellent, my friend doesn't seem sedated anymore and always seems happy. I visit another friend every week at another home, which is very expensive but nowhere as good as this one.

When we found this care home for my mum we were so happy. Everyone there works so hard to make the residents happy and they are all so well looked after. It's an amazing place. The staff are so friendly and if we have a problem always find time to help, it's a fantastic care home with fantastic staff.

Booked relative in for a Respite for 2 weeks. Noel the Manager, with very little notice period, made him self available to carry out an assessment and subsequent entry into the Care home.
Nothing was too much trouble, all the staff were supportive at all times, encouraging and motivating when required.
Always plenty of staff, confident that our relative would receive the correct attention.
We could always get updates on our relative from the staff, which were concise and detailed.

Pleased to confirm although the building is old, well used, it performs to the best of its ability. Importantly, for our relative and ourselves, no bad smells in any of the areas.

The care that my mother received at Ashtonleigh was amazing. The staff were very professional but also so caring and loving.

The time that my mother was in the home was not easy to start with but as she and we got used to her being there she became happier and quite content. My father and I consider the staff to be angels who have hearts of gold.

After coming out of hospital, my family felt that going straight home, was not an option. So we decided a six week respite at a care home would be the right course of action to take. We decided that Ashton Leigh would be the right choice. My daughter and son-in-law went to visit, and was met by the manager who was very quick to make them welcome, and gave them a guided tour, frequently asking them if they had any questions.
After the visit, they spoke to me and said, we have found you a care home for your respite.
When I arrived, the staff made me feel very welcome and encouraged to join in with the activities on offer. To which I have enjoyed immensely. I have also made several friends, which has made my stay even more enjoyable.
Week on week my family noticed my confidence returning, and getting back to my old self.

I would like to thank the staff for the way I have been looked after, and the care I have received. I would not hesitate to recommend Ashtonleigh to any family and friends.

My 98-year-old mother-in-law has only been in Ashtonleigh for just over 6 weeks, but she says she's happier than she's been in a long time. She sees so many more people (carers, staff, etc.) than when living alone, and more importantly, now feels safe! Despite her age, she still has all her mental facilities, it was just her frailty and another serious fall that resulted in her going into care. Ashtonleigh has an extensive activities calendar, including exercises, baking, crafting and many more, including singing and a visiting therapy dog.

All the staff are friendly and welcoming. Always smiling, I was dreading 'mum' going into Ashtonleigh, but I needn't have worried. Knowing she is well looked after has taken the weight off my mind. Thank you.

My husband has only been in the home for a few weeks and I was worried he would not settle down. However, due to the care provided and friendliness of the staff I did not need to worry.

The only comment I have is that I would prefer dinner to be more substantial than sandwiches and soup.

Review from David C (Son of Resident) published on 10 October 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mum originally went into the Care Home for respite care, and we were so happy and comfortable with the environment that she is now in full-time care. The ethos of the home really stands out, with a caring and inclusive team, plenty of entertainment, and a strong focus on meeting individual needs. They also know how to throw a great party - be sure to go if you ever get the chance!

The only area I think could be improved is the furniture in some of the rooms, which doesn't quite match the high standard of the care and service provided.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this Care Home. You won't be disappointed, and you're sure to leave with a smile after visiting.
