Reviews

9.4 Augusta Court has a Review Score of 9.4 (9.364)

The Review Score of 9.4 (maximum of 10) for Augusta Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 12 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Augusta Court in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.603 for Augusta Court is calculated as follows: ( (91 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 141 Ratings = 4.603

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.761 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Augusta Court is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 9.2 positive Reviews (46 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 7 Reviews ÷ 9.2 Target = 0.761

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mother has vascular dementia and normally lives in her own home with the help of carers. Due to a temporary lack of carers, she went into Augusta Court for three weeks. They acted quickly and efficiently to assess and admit her. She had a pleasant room with ensuite and a walk in shower. She settled well and was sorry to leave. All the staff were very kind and helpful and the is well-ran.

My father moved into Augusta Court when he could no longer manager at home and spent the last two weeks of his life there. He was very well looked after by kind and caring staff. Sadly he passed away before he truly settled in. I have no hesitation in recommending Augusta Court, an immaculate home with supportive staff.

My mother was living with me, but when my husband's health deteriorated she moved to Augusta Court. This was an unpredicted move, but the staff did, and continue to do, everything possible to ensure she feels safe, welcome and remains interested in life.

There is a wonderful atmosphere at Augusta Court, full of warmth and laughter. Food, activities and care are excellent.

From the first day that I visited a married couple that came to Augusta Court, I knew it was good. Not only good but the best home I have ever visited. The staff are friendly and make you welcome. I can pay for a home dinner, which is first class home made food. The décor is great, plenty of activity for them. Even the chef said it's the best home he has worked in. It is the kind of home I would like to stay at when my time comes. I am now only 70 and owned my own Residential Home for Dementia and Alzheimer's for 20 years but now retired and that was nice too.

The care is excellent. The staff are always welcoming and helpful and I have never known a call for help ignored. The food is patchy and sometimes not well cooked i.e. carrots hard while green vegetables cooked far too long and the menus are very repetitive. This refers to lunch which I have with my husband on the four days a week that I visit him. The meat is often very tough and the fish often nearly raw or overcooked. Maintenance of building not good. Control of radiator in the room seems faulty - room is often very cold and even communal room cold. But the standard of care is excellent.

Samantha Kewell, Home Manager at Augusta Court responded to this review on 21 Mar 2017:

We welcome all feedback so we can cook food to people’s preference. Our residents have recently enjoyed a tasting afternoon, trying the food for the new spring/summer menus that they help to create.

My father moved to Augusta Court from his home of almost 50 years in December. The transition has gone exceptionally smoothly and much more easily that expected. The main reason is the exceptional quality and caring attitude of the staff who are excellent.
Secondly, the facility itself is well designed and maintained.

My aunt moved into this care home in September 2016 and despite always having wanted to stay at home, settled in really quickly and easily and is happy to be there. The staff were all so helpful before she moved in, listening to and sorting out our many requests and queries. They treat each new resident as an individual and listen to what they want and action it. Aunty is making new friends and joining in activities happily. Thank you Augusta Court - you're the best!

After nearly 60 years of married life, it was always going to be heart-wrenching to find care for my husband, but given the present circumstances, I believe that we have found the very best in Augusta Court. It certainly lives up to it's title of CARE HOME. The care shown by all the staff is excellent and the atmosphere is of a friendly, family home. The staff work as a team lead by good managers and team leaders and show thought and understanding of individual needs of the residents. Activities are provided every day and now special thought is given to those who cannot take part. From the outside, the building is not inspiring but inside it is warm and welcoming, light and bright with wide corridors, open spaces and pleasant en-suite flatlets, but it is the quality of staff that matters. Without their hard work and dedication, Augusta Court would not be the place of peace, security and contentment that it is.

My aunt came to live at Augusta Court in March 2012. At that time she was highly anxious and awaiting further medical tests. The staff were immediately welcoming and did all they could to help my aunt relax and feel at home. As my aunt's dementia has got worse the staff have sensitively adapted her care plan to meet her changing needs. The staff are very caring and patient and are always positive and encouraging. I appreciate it is not easy to work with people who have dementia and the staff make every effort to be flexible and do their utmost to provide as much quality of life for residents as possible. Keep up the excellent standards!

I think the care at Augusta Court is as good as it humanly can be. I live at a distance and appreciate the way that staff contact me with any concerns. I have recommended Anchor as a provider to friends who live away from West Sussex, who are considering provision for their own elderly relatives.

Our mother was struggling for quite a while at home and we knew the time was approaching where she would need 24/7 observation. Augusta Court has been excellent in providing support for our mother. She has now been there for just over 3 yrs. The surroundings are always clean and tidy. The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive to our mother and to us when visiting. They are always looking to try new ideas and provide new stimulus in what must be, sometimes, difficult circumstances. Occasionally there are, inevitably, concerns or issues and we have always found the staff approachable and professional. All in all, we have been very pleased with the support our mother gets and feel we can relax and know she is in good hands.

My mother was given a wonderful welcome in Feb 2015 and was looked after very well by caring and friendly staff- many of whom she became fond of, and they of her. Gradually her health deteriorated due to old age- she liked being there- we didn't want to move her away from the friendly staff caring for her and she died in Jan 2016. I was with her and my brother as well and the staff were very helpful and supportive to us too. Thank you to all those involved- such lovely, hard working, friendly and kind people.

I lost my wife 6 years ago, had 2 falls and was diagnosed with osteoporosis and early signs of dementia. It was decided that I was at risk and should consider a care home. After a wide family survey and personal recommendation from close friends in the ambulance service I entered Augusta Court 2 and a half years ago.
I was made most welcome by staff and 45 fellow residents. I cannot praise too highly the professionalism, training and dedication of the carers. They all provide an outstanding level of care.
There is a wide activities programme with outings to local outside venues, art galleries etc. Personally I am able to pursue my gardening hobby and also assist on activities and fundraising. It's a warm environment, lovely people and a lot of fun - in one word 'inspired'.
