Anchor’s Augusta Court in Chichester is a purpose-built care home, providing quality care and facilities within a comfortable and relaxing environment. The home is within reach of Kingley Vale National Nature Reserve and Goodwood Racecourse.

Augusta Court continues to welcome new residents for tailored and high-quality residential care and care for older people living with dementia.

My mother's stayed here for just under two years. I am very happy with the standard care Augusta Court staff give. As the building is purpose made for the care it makes everything a lot easier. There are two garden areas at the home and parks nearby, so although the indoor common areas are very well
looked after you can get out into nature, which makes visiting easier. Staff are very professional and do activities every day, but more importantly, very kind, show love and respect to all the residents.

All the staff at Augusta Court have managed to make the extremely difficult circumstances of the lock-down much more than just bearable for the residents. My mother suffered a heart attack earlier in the month, spent one night in the hospital and then returned to Augusta Court to recuperate. Because
she might have contracted coronavirus in the hospital, she had to stay in her room 24/7 for a fortnight. The staff managed this with great compassion and professionalism. She is now through her quarantine and back among fellow residents. We cannot praise her carers enough.

From the moment we first considered Augusta Court for my father’s care, I have had nothing but positive experiences. The staff have always been helpful and kind - and extremely patient. They were sensitive towards us in the early transition days for my father, and I always left knowing he was in good
hands.


It must be so difficult for the whole team to cope during this pandemic, but I know they are all working together to look after all residents as well as possible.

My brother and I found all the staff to be very caring and attentive towards my mother who unfortunately died whilst in their care. We always felt they had time to talk to us, explain what was going on. They proactively called in additional medical help when required. They were sympathetic and patient.
The food was sensible. Simple food, comfort food, perfect for the population in here. Thank you so much, Augusta for all you did.

My husband did not like the care home at first, now after three years, it is his home. The care people are his friends and he is theirs. I would not like to have to put him elsewhere.

Outings appear to be a problem, with only one outing a month in a minibus with just just one wheelchair space, this is unsatisfactory. It would also be good if residents could spend more time outside, particularly in the summer. The lift has been a real problem for residents on the first floor, unable
to access the ground floor.

Our local transport company provide a minibus where a larger coach would require additional staff supporting and therefore being out of the home. We rotate our regular trips to include residents who wish to participate as often as possible. Our lift has been fixed and we are looking into the installation of a stairlift as an additional resource.

Staff are friendly and helpful towards the members of the Church group who provide an hour of songs, poems, drama and quizzes every 2 weeks. The residents are welcoming and join in, they are well known to the staff who treat them with kindness, respect and patience which brings out the best in the residents

My relative has been at Augusta Court for over a year and every time I visit, I am impressed by the genuine care and interest given both to my relative but also the other residents. The home is run to high standards and all the staff ensure those standards are met. It is always clean, sweet smelling
and there are no secret areas. The food is excellent and produced from fresh ingredients and the catering staff are very much part of the team. Any concerns about my relative have always been met with a helpful attitude and followed up with action. There always seems to be smiles at Augusta, for the staff and for the residents. A hug and a kiss given to residents by staff has an immediate effect and helps make this a home where residents feel welcome and settled. When I have seen difficulties arise, the training staff have been given help to deal with or overcome problems. If I needed this type of care, I would be happy to join the Augusta Court family.

Carers are both professional and compassionate, they treat residents with kindness and respect. Residents are kept safe, this was of concern to the family in the past. Senior carers always find time to discuss with relatives issues relating to residents. Medical needs are well provided for residents.
In my opinion service of laundry should have a person in charge because things can go missing.

Having a relative in a care home is difficult enough - Augusta Court does feel like a home from home rather than a generic care setting. This is because residents have individual flatlets which give them their own private space and these flats can be personalised, tea and coffee facilities, fridges
etc normalise the situation and give relatives some privacy if desired when visiting.
Staff members treat relatives with dignity and respect and are mostly cheerful and committed. Team leaders are particularly able and are good mentors for younger less experienced staff. Managers are always available to listen to concerns and act when necessary and communication is good between the home and relatives.

My mother has vascular dementia and normally lives in her own home with the help of carers. Due to a temporary lack of carers, she went into Augusta Court for three weeks. They acted quickly and efficiently to assess and admit her. She had a pleasant room with ensuite and a walk in shower. She settled
well and was sorry to leave. All the staff were very kind and helpful and the is well-ran.
