Since moving into Brockenhurst, my mother has improved. I thought she was going to die, however, she is going to outlive her money. She has dementia which won't improve but physically she is amazing. She enjoys her food, loves the activities and dismisses me after about 45 minutes as in her words 'doesn't
want to miss anything indoors'. There has been no covid at all and that is due to the strict regime that I welcome.

After many years in the care of Brockenhurst, my beloved grandmother has passed away. The care, love, and kindness given by all the staff resulted in a peaceful and dignified death. Which I believe everyone should have when their time comes. The communication was exemplary; as a family, we were kept
informed and were even able to spend precious time together. We were consulted regarding all decisions to be made and our preferences were acknowledged and respected throughout. When caring for someone and their family at such an upsetting time, I can only say that the team have the perfect balance between being compassionate but also maintaining a cheerful persona. This was helpful beyond belief. Having experienced many local care homes, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Brockenhurst. If you have a loved one who needs care and love, and you truly do want the best for them, then you shouldn't hesitate to contact Brockenhurst.

My mother was a resident at Brockenhurst from December 2017 to March 2021. When she was transferred from another care home, suffering from advanced dementia, she was bed-bound, underweight and suffering neglect. Within a short time in the care of the team at Brockenhurst she was out of bed, eating and
putting on weight and content. I wish I had transferred her earlier.
Brockenhurst is very well managed with a strong commitment to the quality of nursing and personal care. The owner/manager has decades of nursing experience and takes an active day to day management role. Patient care is prioritised over decor and fancy facilities; food is appropriate. The team pursued all avenues available to make my mother's last years as comfortable as possible. The staff turnover is low, all staff are cheerful, compassionate and caring and there is a family atmosphere. For anyone looking for a care home for a resident with multiple nursing and/or personal care needs, I would recommend Brockenhurst.

My father moved into the home in November 2018. This was the third move for him and so it was lovely to find somewhere where l felt that he would be looked after. Sadly my father declined after Christmas and sadly passed away on 25th January. I cannot thank or praise the staff enough for their kindness
and compassion towards my father and myself, allowing my father to pass away with dignity and respect. I could not have asked for more.
Thank you.

My mother is in the later stages of dementia. She moved to Brockenhurst over 2 years ago when her previous care home was no longer able to support her increasing care needs. Mother quickly settled in very well and we have found the standard of care to be excellent. She is in the perfect place for the
level of support she now needs.

Dad moved into Brockenhurst because his Alzheimers caused him to have behavioural problems.

Every member of staff at Brockenhurst cared for dad with respect, kindness and great affection. This resulted in a substantial decrease of his anxiety and overall calmer behaviour.

My family will always

be grateful to all the staff at Brockenhurst for looking after dad so well and for making us all welcome to visit anytime and for the tea and biscuits.

My mother has been a resident at Brockenhurst since March 2016. I have never seen her happier. She suffers from dementia but is cared for by all the staff at Brockenhurst with love and care.

Please look beyond furnishings etc. The staff make this home a happy place to be. They are patient, hard

working, very caring, knowledgeable and know each resident well.

Forget the QCA results, this home is lovely. Every time I visit, my mother is always happy and the staff are very attentive.

I was worried about my mother going into a home but since she has been at Brockenhurst, I realise it is the best place for her and I wouldn't want her to be anywhere else.

They look after her so well.

I currently live abroad so wanted a care home that I could completely trust and visit at any time when I am in the UK. Brockenhurst is run in a very caring and professional manner. All the staff, from the top down, are extremely sensitive towards the residents' needs.

My mum preferred to stay

in her room a lot of the time which was respected and the staff made regular checks to ensure she was happy, well fed and drinking regularly. My mum lived there over a year and whenever I visited I was greeted by the same staff members. I felt this was important as they built a genuine rapport/friendship with the residents.

Personally, I could not fault Brockenhurst and the staff there. It was a real comfort to me, knowing my Mum was in a safe, caring community.

Review from David M (Cousin of Resident) published on 8 March 2017 Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
The owner/manager and all staff have proven themselves to be totally committed to providing very good care to their clients. Although I can only refer specifically to my cousin - who - as an Alzheimer's sufferer had been cared for by 'Brockenhurst' over the last 11 years. All of their clients that
one comes into contact with, support the statement. Unfortunately, my cousin recently passed away and the respect shown to me by the management and staff that I had contact with at this time, has been faultless. It happens that some years ago, I had an issue with my cousin where ultimately I had to take to the Court of Protection (nothing, I hasten to add, to do with the Care home or staff) however, the whole team at 'Brockenhurst' went 'above and beyond the call of duty' to assist me and in so doing to protect my cousin. They are a very dedicated team and my thanks go out to all of them.

My mother was a resident for four years in Brockenhurst care home before she died peacefully in July 2016. As a family, we found the care given to our Mum absolutely superb during this time. The staff were always attentive, respectful and caring of our mother and were also incredibly supportive to us
as a family whenever we visited. My mum enjoyed the fun activities provided within the home and was well nourished by the wonderfully tasty home cooked food. There are three trained nurses in our family and we all cannot express our gratitude for the very high standard of end of life care that was given to our lovely Mum during the last four days of her life by all the staff. Thank you so much to you all.

My mother was a resident in Brockenhurst for almost 9 years. After 3 years she was doubly incontinent and needed everything done for her. Eventually, she was completely bedridden. She had severe dementia and at all times during her 9 years stay, she was treated with dignity, gentleness and the carers
took everything in their stride. I would definitely recommend Brockenhurst.

When Mum's condition deteriorated we moved her from another, well respected care home to Brockenhurst.
She was significantly happier at Brockenhurst, settled in very quickly and was provided with a warm and loving home for her last few years. I am happy that she had the best possible quality of life
as a result of the move.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.614)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.614) out of 10 for Brockenhurst is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.864 for Brockenhurst is calculated as follows: ( (104 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 118 Ratings = 4.864
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brockenhurst is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6, which has been reached with 10 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
