When I arrived, I was as ill as I have ever been. Frankly, I did not know if I was going to make it at all. What pulled me through, apart from the underred grace of a loving God, was the kindness of the people. This is a care home where they really do care. You can have all the material comforts, etc,
in the world, but without real care for people who really need it, the outer conditions would count for nothing. I guess St Paul would have understood. At first, I could not even make the end of the corridor. Now I can walk down the seafront with ease. It'll be hard to go, love the place.

The Shelley is a truly exceptional home. My mother said she never wanted to 'end up' in a care home but due to circumstances there was no choice for the last 2 years of her life and despite her reticence she told me many times how lucky she was to be there, how safe and cared for she felt and how wonderful
all the staff were. It felt like she was in her own home with every single member of staff going above and beyond and genuinely caring for the residents as well as getting to know and supporting the wider family. The staff team remained consistent over the 2 years which says something for the management and all the staff seemed to love working there and really wanted the best for the residents- lovely personal touches and nothing was too much trouble . The rooms are also spacious and bright and my mother had one opening onto the garden which she loved to look onto as she became less mobile. We also felt lucky to have found the Shelley- thank you so much to everyone there.

My sisters and I could not have wished for a better home for our mother than The Shelley.Their warm and compassionate care for her, especially over these last few months when everything became very challenging for her, was commendable and certainly served add significantly to her quality of life.

After a recent hip operation, I moved to The Shelley for rehab. I have enjoyed 3-4 weeks of excellent care and amenities from the staff and all concerned. I thoroughly recommend it.

I've loved my ten day stay at The Shelley. Staff and residents made it so nothing was any trouble, even when I thought I might be a nuisance, I was made to feel like one of the family - close and soon loved. My mother has lived at The Shelley since 2020, during the Covid pandemic. She considers The Shelley to be her home and is very fond of the staff and is full of praise for her care. She has taken full advantage of the excellent range of activities until recently. She loves the food and has a very comfortable
room. Everything is clean and comfortable. Staff do their utmost to cater for her needs and are ensuring that she is made as comfortable as possible as she is moving to the end of her life.

Excellent experience. My mother was very happy and well cared for during her stay, and enjoyed telling all her friends about her 'holiday'. She enjoyed the other residents' company and the activities, as well as the choice of food. She wants to return.

Our family's experience of The Shelley is nothing but positive. The ground floor room was really nice with a garden to sit out in. The decor of the home gives off a homely but boutique hotel feel. All the staff are friendly and professional, we dealt mainly with the assistant manager who was so kind,
understanding and really made a difference to the health and well-being of my mother-in-law. The food and freshly made cakes are amazing. I have nothing but praise for the staff team at the Shelley.
