The Shelley

I am a fit and healthy 'eighty-four-year-old' who lives by herself and I felt it would be wonderful to have a weeks respite care where I would be fed, watered and perhaps pampered. I had an excellent time in The Shelley. My room was spacious, warm and comfortable. I chose to have my meals in the main dining room and enjoyed chatting to other residents. The downstairs lounge was warm and comfortable and had daily entertainment, from musical recitals to interesting talks on numerous subjects. I had a wonderful week and left feeling rejuvenated. I hope to return later in the year.

I would not hesitate to recommend the home and the staff to anyone. I asked the home for this review as I feel they deserve the praise and credit for their outstanding care.

My in-laws have received the most fantastic Care here!!! Nothing is to much trouble for the staff. There is always something going on outings and activities. We use The Shelley regularly for respite and my mother in law did not want to come Home!!! I completely understand how they have the outstanding grade. What a shame there's no higher accolade. They need one it's an amazing place. Thank you!

My mother loves The Shelley - their staff is wonderful and the residents all so friendly. Food is consistently of a high standard and the entertainment remarkably good. At Christmas and other celebrations, no expense is spared to decorate and provide a lovely experience. I cannot recommend the home highly enough. Everyone is treated as an individual and with the greatest respect.

I visit The Shelley on a regular basis and am always impressed by the polite, helpful staff. The home is always sparkling clean and the seasonal decorations are amazing. The coffee they serve is better than the High Street and I am always offered refreshments. Entertainment is daily and varied and I often feel I am visiting a hotel, not a residential home. I would recommend The Shelley to anyone.

The home is kept spotless and I feel this really underpins the dignity of those that live in this beautiful home.

Since moving into The Shelley in early 2017 my mother has been very happy making friends as she has not had the occasion to do for many years. The staff at The Shelley are very caring and the management are also much involved and available, the food and accommodation are excellent. Visiting is flexible and you are made to feel very welcome. Mum is experiencing failing health but she is being well looked after. I cannot wish for a better place for my mother to be at this time and I thoroughly recommend this care home.

After placing my mother in The Shelley for 8 months it is clear to see why The Shelley has an outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission. The care my mother received was simply "Outstanding". All the staff were always so welcoming, always had the time to listen and support the resident and the family in so many ways. I have no hesitation in recommending The Shelley to others.

Mum has been at The Shelley for a number of years now and from day 1 she has been happy there. It is a home from home. There is a wide range of activities and entertainment provided. A special effort is made to celebrate festive occasions (their Christmas decorations are superb).

I cannot recommend The Shelley highly enough (I hope to book a place in years to come!).

The staff welcomed her and her family so warmly and she soon settled in. What could have been a bewildering and worrying time soon turned into happier times. The management and staff couldn't have been more wonderful. The comfortable surroundings were pure luxury. The Shelley turned into a true home for my mother where she received excellent care, second to none. There is nothing I could criticise. She sadly dies at The Shelley with dignity and in comfort.

Rating 'Excellent' in all categories below is no exaggeration; it is hard to speak too highly of The Shelley Care home. Everything is aimed at "care" for the residents. The management is first class, the staff are wonderful. I cannot imagine a better place for my elderly mother to be.

I cannot overstate the quality of care given to my Aunt from day one. I have visited many care homes and this is the best one that I have ever seen. It is lovely to see how happy my Aunt is here, there is genuine affection as well as excellent standards of care, by all staff.

I have nothing but wonderful praise for the Shelley. The staff are full of love for their residents, something that I'm not sure would happen in many such homes. My mother has been there for two and a half years now and she is, I honestly believe, much happier than when she was living at home by herself. She feels loved, is surrounded by caring, funny, thoughtful people and is truly relaxed and content. The facilities at The Shelley are beautiful - everything is fresh and well tended. The entertainment is beyond compare - a constant stream of outings, musical events, local school children, pets and even a llama visit! My mother, never a foodie, has told me numerous times how good the food is - and they have a facebook page showing the residents and staff just loving life (and yes, the food looks amazing!). I could not be happier for my mother to be living there, and when the time comes, I might just book myself in!

Fabulous where nothing is too much trouble, lots of entertainment always going on and the best Christmas decorations of Sussex. Very homely.

Only stayed one week as needed to rest. Staff all very kind and all had enough time for a chat. Management very considerate and caring. Standards consistently high. Room spacious and light. Very clean. Felt very safe. Food very good.

The Shelley is a place where you never feel lonely because everyone, without hesitation, is so wonderfully kind. I am so happy that I moved here. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

She really enjoyed the entertainment and variety of meals that was cooked.

The Shelley gives me and my daughter a peace of mind. There is nothing for me to worry about. All the staff are kind and friendly. The food is wonderful. There is a lot of choice and lovely home made cakes every day. I could not have picked a better place.

Staff are wonderful, food excellent and always something gong on - never a dull moment.
