The activities are varied and designed to stimulate engagement with life but also are supported by staff to ensure all residents who want to can participate irrespective of their physical or mental capacity.
Staff always know where my mother is as soon as I walk through in the door before I even ask! They are fully involved in the personal relationships with their residents.
Food is excellent and plentiful. Monitoring of liquids is carried out routinely.,
The grounds allow for residents to be outside as much as good weather allows and are encouraged to take part in gardening activities such as baskets/planting.
Excellent care all round. My mind is always at peace now.
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback, it's lovely to see that your mother has settled in and is engaging with all of our activities! Very welcoming, kind and friendly staff. Clean and lovely rooms. The main meals could have been better.

Provided much-needed help at late notice, showed understanding in practical ways, and allowed me to also help myself. Gave a beautiful room with lovely views which was part of healing. Care is the most important part of your work which was excellent. My thanks to you all.
Thanks, Gillian for taking the time to leave us a review and for your kind words about the care and team at Walstead Place. Your feedback will be shared with the team.
Respond well and quickly, day and night, to call button for help and always cheerful and going the extra distance. Food varied and tasty. Chose to come here as first choice after previous respite care.

Appliances, TV, and central heating were reliable. Personal attention was very well done. Call out times and repair durations were reasonable.

Following a nasty fall and a ten-month stay in hospital, my cousin became a resident at Walstead. Thanks to the very warm welcome from the staff and residents she settled straight away. She loved to join in with activities, especially carpet bowels! I can't express highly enough how caring the staff are nothing is too much trouble. Sadly almost five years to the day my cousin passed away with two wonderful carers by her side. Walstead is a wonderful place for your loved ones.
Thank you so much for your kind words and recognition of the team at Walstead Place. Your cousin was a joy and a pleasure to look after here for the past five years. We are really sorry for your loss, and we will all miss her, but very much appreciate your review and your comments will be passed on to the team.
My wife arrived here three weeks ago from the hospital after fracturing her pelvis in two places when she fell in the garden. She could hardly walk when we brought her in, in a wheelchair. Three weeks later she walked out with just a little help from her frame. This is all the result of good respite care and encouragement from the staff to get her up and walking. Thank you all very much.
Thank you for your review and positive comments regarding Walstead Place and the team who work hard to deliver high standards of quality care at all times. Your feedback will be passed on to the team.

My husband spent nine days at Walstead Place on respite, to allow me some time off from caring for him. He has Vascular Dementia so did not tell me much of his experience as could not remember. The first impression I got from delivering and collecting him, visits made by our daughter while I was away and phone calls made was that this is a well-run home, the staff are friendly and caring and his every need was met. We will be returning.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and we are pleased to read your lovely comments about our home, team and the care your husband received. We look forward to welcoming him back. Your feedback will be shared with the team.
I came for a week's respite care after a cancer operation (a mastectomy). Walstead Place is very near home. A friend had had a longer stay over Christmas and recommended it and my mother was here twenty years ago! Was accommodated in a very similar room opening on the garden so I had a good idea of what to expect. The staff were, without exception, cheerful and caring and the midday meal very good. I'm altogether very satisfied with my stay and have no complaints.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we are pleased to read that you were satisfied with your stay and that the team supported you following your operation. Your comments will be shared with the whole team.
The overall experience of my 3 weeks of respite care has been very good. The staff have been excellent to myself and my family (visitors). Activities were excellent and the meals very good. The room was comfortable with a nice outlook and en-suite. Facilities I have felt very safe. My only concern was that no one checked that I was taking my medication (brought from home), although I am capable of doing that myself (which I did) and the staff may well have been aware of that (as discussed with my son).
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your respite stay at Walstead Place, including your room, activities and food. All your comments have been passed on to the team.
My husband came in for respite with a view to permanent residency. The staff were very caring. They made him very comfortable. The food was good and varied and they encouraged him to eat when he didn't feel like it. The staff made every effort to keep him mobile. The room and surroundings were pleasant.
Thank you Doreen for taking the time to leave us a review and we are pleased to read your lovely comments about the care your husband received. Your comments have been passed on to the team who will be delighted to hear your feedback.
I have been a resident here at Walstead Place Care Home now for six years and five months. During this time the staff have been wonderful and supported me despite experiencing difficult times coping with a diagnosis of Bipolar. I have maintained being in remission here despite difficult times.

My grandfather stayed at Walstead Place and the management was very helpful when I needed advice on my grandfather. They gave me a lot of information. The staff were always friendly and always made sure my grandfather looked presentable and regularly gave him a shave. My grandfather was always smiling and enjoyed his stay and would like to come back in the future.
We are so pleased to read your wonderful comments about the care your grandfather received and that he enjoyed his stay with us and we look forward to welcoming him back in the future. Your feedback has been shared with the team.
For many years I have known my friend and when she came into the care home I thought I was going to miss her but since she has been a resident living at Walstead I have visited her often and we have had such fun together. The activities are fantastic, the food is amazing. The staff and management are so welcoming.

My mother considers the staff are very kind and will help whenever it's needed. The home organises many activities and these are well received by a large majority of the residents. Although the building has a dated appearance it has a very warm and friendly environment in which to live.
Thank you for your kind words and recognition of the team at Walstead Place. The care and services we deliver as a team to our residents and families is extremely important to us. Your feedback will be shared with the team.
I am a close friend of the family and have been for many years. I have visited the care home a few times and each time I have been greeted by such friendly staff who always make me feel welcome. It has a very friendly atmosphere and feels like a happy family. The care home always looks clean and fresh and has lovely smells coming from the kitchen. Each time I visit my friend she says how she gets cared for so well and whatever she needs they will get!
Thank you for your lovely comments about the care your friend is receiving and we are pleased you enjoy your visits to the home. Your feedback will be shared with the team.
