Fitzwilliam home is a lovely home for my mom , the residents are very well looked after by all the caring carers who give 100% to all residents . Entertainment is fantastic, they all look very happy dancing and singing to live bands , play bingo , they all get involved with Art to decorate the home
to celebrate special occasions like Mother's Day / Easter etc . My mom loves gardening and being outdoors , the residents can sit in the comfy garden chairs and enjoy the well kept gardens . The chefs make lovely meals as well as special occasions like hydration week they made smoothies & jellies and platters of fruit for all residents which looked delicious. All the staff really make it feel like one big family . Thank you for caring for my mom .

You are always made to feel welcome. It is lovely to see staff in the communal areas with the residents and interacting too. I have been so pleased with the care that my neighbour receives, its lovely to see what she gets up to + involved in as this becomes a talking point.

Our mom who has Alzheimers was reluctant to move into a care home but the day we took her to look around the staff were so kind, it felt warm and homely. My mom actually said this is the place for me! We can't believe our luck at how happy and settled she is. This is down to the wonderful staff and
the kindness she is given, it feels like one big family. We actually sleep now knowing she is happy and extremely well cared for. My mum never wanted to join in with activities before moving in there and had no interest in food. Now she eats well due to the amazing chefs and does fun activities every day. She's hardly in her room! She tells us she loves the staff and we can understand why. They are a very special team of people and we appreciate all they do for her, we can't thank them enough.
Absolutely top marks for Fitzwilliam House Care Home.

My friend is now end of life. Have got to say that all staff have been excellent to my friend and myself when visiting her. The staff are very caring and friendly towards her and people who are visiting. They give me time to have a chat and check to see if I need anything, which I felt was great because
I was sleeping over at nights. My friend is in excellent hands because all the staff are wonderful people.
Just want to thank all the staff; it means a lot to me.

Where does one even begin to start when we wish to let others know to be sure that their lives ones will be safe when they enter the doors of Fitzwilliam care home Cottenham, I'm hoping by me leaving this review you will understand that your loved one is not just entering a care home they are entering
a world of genuine love and care, I've experienced first hand what care was provided and it is outstanding, every detail is covered and the staff go above and beyond to make the residence comfortable, the effort the staff provide is relentless I was in no doubt that my mum was in safe hands. The home caters for residence with differing levels of dementia from the early days till end of life, they have events monthly all throughout the year, the food is definitely of a high standard, rooms always cleaned and no stone is unturned to ensure the residence is kept as happy as can be.i'm truly grateful my mum was able to spend her life here, Thank you to the staff deep from within my Heart.

MY wife has been a resident since 9th October 2024 and has never moved out since. Other than two emergency visits to hospital, which needed no treatment at all (the result of falls).
The room is quite basic but practical.
The lounge/dinning are seems quite comfortable and my wife seems overall very
content. She enjoys TV, activities and entertainment provided. Within the limits of her condition (deteriorating).
Overall, a very satisfactory placement - enjoying excellent staff. Thank you.

The staff are very friendly, helpful, and responsive. As a family, we visit our mother daily, and it is very rare that she appears sad. She shows clear signs of warmth and happiness toward the staff. Knowing our mother is settled and happy eases the pain we have for her being in a residential home.

Having visited a number of Care Homes in Cambridgeshire, looking for a suitable place for Carer's Respite for my Step Father to visit, we were so impressed with the Manager (Georgiana) and her staff at Fitzwilliam House that, even though the actual building was not as attractive as a Central Cambridgeshire
one we looked at, we decided Fitzwilliam was the right place for him.

The standards of care are amazingly high at my partner and I both agree that it is a classic case of good, caring practive filtering down from the top to the rest of the staff.

Well done to Georgiana and her Team at Fitzwilliam!!!!!

This is a friendly, caring, spotlessly clean and well organised care home. The staff are absolutely fantastic - keeping me up to date, knowing the residents in detail and able to answer questions as well as provide support. Although the building itself is not modern it is well maintained and light and
airy. Laundry services are mainly effective in ensuring everyone's clothing is returned. There are usually lots of activities in the main lounge. The only gripe really is that the food is a bit variable. The care home gets good support from its local GP practice and advanced nurse practitioner. The manager is excellent and very knowledgeable. They provided excellent very compassionate end of life care to my mum
Reply from Georgiana Ispas, Home manager at Excelcare Fitzwilliam HouseThank you so much for sharing your thoughtful feedback. Were also pleased you noticed the cleanliness, the welcoming atmosphere, and the activities in the lounge. Your comments about the food being a little variable are very helpful; were always looking for ways to improve, and well share this with our catering team to ensure consistency.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.815)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.815) out of 10 for Excelcare Fitzwilliam House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.815 for Excelcare Fitzwilliam House is calculated as follows: ( (232 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 275 Ratings = 4.815
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Excelcare Fitzwilliam House is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
