The staff at Fitzwilliam House are amazing, when my friend moved into fitzwilliam in July he was quite unsettled but the staff made him feel at home within a couple of days and he loves it, he is often seen on Facebook joining in with the activities and always looks well cared for. Because of the pandemic
I have not been able to go and see him but the staff have arranged video calls so we can speak and see one another. Thank you to you all for keeping everyone safe and well, you all deserve a medal

A friendly and welcoming care home. Mum has now been at Fitzwilliam for just over a year and is very happy and settled in her home. All the people that live here are treated as one ‘family’. The home is clean and tidy and welcoming as a home should be. The choice of meals, all cooked on site are brilliant,
and having seen first hand will accommodate every ones needs and choice. It’s not just one choice and put in front off them regardless of what they want. Special birthday cakes are made for each resident and birthdays celebrated. Currently the home is fully decorated for Christmas. Activities happen during the week and if you follow their Facebook page pictures are put up for friends/family to see. If any further activity needed their is always Blue the cat to amuse everyone, she is always looking for a cuddle from all who are happy to fuss her, good therapy. Visitors are given space and time to visit their relatives. Thank you for looking after mum so well.

Fitzwilliam House is such a friendly, welcoming and caring home. As a family, we were quite anxious when the time came to make the decision for Nan to go into a home but soon realised it the was right decision. The team has been amazing right from the start and helped Nan to settle in and provide excellent
ongoing daily care. We often see photos of some of the activities which look like great fun and enjoyed by the residents. Thank you.

Fitzwilliam House is an amazing home. From when you walk through the door the experience is beautiful, as is the decor. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly.
My ‘papa’ is part of the family there now, but when we visit it feels like we are too.
We couldn’t think of anywhere better for Papa. He’s
looked after so well, always so tidy and most importantly, he’s happy. That’s all we can ask for.
Fitzwilliam House truly is a special place, and I’d recommend it to anyone.
Thank you Fitzwilliam House, for being a safe, happy, wonderful place for us to continue making memories with our papa.

So glad we chose Fitzwilliam House for mum. The staff is wonderful, very caring and thoughtful. Most days there are activities and posts on social media so family and friends can see what the residents have been up to. So many other residential homes just plonk people in front of the TV and leave them
to it but not Fitzwilliam House. They refer to their staff and residents as family and that's just how it is. One big happy family where everyone is made to feel welcome. Thank you all for being so caring.

The staff are friendly, helpful and extremely approachable. I visited my grandma for the first time since she’s been in, we were welcomed with a warm reception and soon got to know everyone! They answered our questions and was lovely to see all the residents enjoying themselves in the fun activity that
had been planned for them.

After our father was taken to hospital, we needed to find somewhere for our mother to be looked after. We all had worries about this and letting go of mum. Be assured this care home is excellent in every way from top to bottom. The family feel has been so welcome and been part of the family. The staff
are incredible and mum has looked clean, tidy and really well cared for. She is very happy and has settled in really well. Thank you Fitzwilliam House, great teamwork!

It has been so reassuring to find Fitzwilliam House for my parents. It was a difficult and challenging time moving them into care but the manager and all the staff have made it such a good experience for them. The home is lovely, friendly, has interesting things to do for the residents and even though
they are busy, have kept in touch with us, letting us know how my parents are. The home offers excellent care. I highly recommend it.

The hardest decision of my life - having to place Mum in a care home, due to her dementia and declining health - was made much easier by knowing that she would receive the very best care at Fitzwilliam House. The staff are wonderful and show so much care and compassion to those in their care. Mum has
only been in the home for a month but we are confident that she is safe and well looked after. Staff provide a wonderful range of creative and stimulating activities, which is so lovely to see. As soon as you walk in the door you feel the warm, homely atmosphere and the staff are always so friendly and cheerful and ready to allay any worries or concerns that we may have. They not only provide care for Mum but provide reassurance for the whole family, which is so important. Well done Fitzwilliam team - you’re simply the best!

Mum has only been at Fitzwilliam House Care Home for a couple of months, but in that time it has been so nice to see how well she has settled in. The frequent posts shown on the home's Facebook page, really help to demonstrate what's going on and how well mum is integrating with other residents and
carers alike. Living so far away from Cambridgeshire, it's unfortunately not possible for me to visit on a regular basis and it's really important for me to be able to see, almost at first hand, how well mum's getting on and enjoying her new life in her new home.

The hard decision to move Mum into a care home was made much easier by the care and devotion shown to her by the manager and her team, any worries or concerns are soon laid to rest by a quick chat or text. Mum has found a friend in two members of staff in particular and we always look forward to the
updates, Facebook posts and pictures. Her unusual diet has been happily and easily accommodated by the chef which is comforting, as is his food! I am truly grateful that Mum has a new home where she is happy.

Following the first Anniversary of Grandma moving to Fitzwilliam House, we have looked back and are truly grateful to everyone for the care and support shown to Grams, but also to us as a family. The decision that full-time care was needed was not easy for us, but walking into Fitzwilliam and being
shown around it was clear to see Grams could be at home in the well-decorated rooms and beautiful gardens. That, and the knowledge that she really would be safe with great care, made the choice so much easier. None of us could ever have imagined how 2020 and the start of 2021 would play out, and whilst it has been incredibly hard not being able to visit 'normally', we have never doubted the level of care or love Grams and the other residents have been shown in these crazy times. We feel incredibly fortunate that Grams has become part of the Fitzwilliam family and thank the manager and all her Team for everything they have done in looking after everyone's loved ones.
Reply from Claire Keen, Manager at Excelcare Fitzwilliam HouseThank you so much for your kind words, the support you have given to us over the last 18 months has been fantastic and we truly see you all as part of our Fitzwilliam family, lets hope we can have some more normality in our care homes soon so we can have our garden party we have long waited for. I will pass these comments on to the team which will give them so much pride to read.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.824)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.824) out of 10 for Excelcare Fitzwilliam House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.824 for Excelcare Fitzwilliam House is calculated as follows: ( (247 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 290 Ratings = 4.824
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Excelcare Fitzwilliam House is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
