Fitzwilliam House is a 40-bedded care home providing person-centred care for adults aged 65 and over, including those living with dementia.

Situated in the village of Cottenham with access to a range of shops, a library, pubs and restaurants. Cambridge City Centre is approximately eight miles away and can be accessed by public transport.

Fitzwilliam House offers long-term and respite care It is divided into two units over two floors. All rooms are single occupancy and 10 rooms have en-suite facilities.

People living at Fitzwilliam House can enjoy a variety of communal areas with a separate dining area and kitchenette on the ground floor and one large combined lounge and dining area on the first floor, supplemented with a small kitchenette, as well as bathrooms, shower rooms and toilets throughout the home.

The upper floor is accessed by stairs or a lift.

Fitzwilliam House provides care and support 24 hours a day, housekeeping including a laundry service, traditional home-cooked meals, using fresh ingredients and meaningful activities and outings planned through a structured programme following discussions with the people living in Fitzwilliam House and their families.

My mother experiences a very high standard of person-centred care. She is allowed choices about all aspects of her life.
Medical treatment is accessed promptly and appropriately. I am kept well informed of changes to treatment, medication etc.
Her level of care needs vary quickly and these are managed
well. I feel she is living in a clean, safe environment.

My aunt stays are Fitzwilliam House 3 times a year. She always comes back happy and looks forward to returning. Staff make her feel extremley welcome and she enjoys joining in with all the activities.
I would highly recommend this home.

Every time I visited my aunt she always seemed really happy and well cared for. Her room was always clean and even though the home needed an upgrade the residents were happy, staff are really nice and were always chatting to residents whilst doing their jobs. My aunt had her favourites but liked them
all.

Since my wife entered Fitzwilliam House in October 2018 I have been very impressed with the care she has received. Every carer has clearly been devoted to their job and has demonstrated a loving and attentive attitude at all times. It has also been evident that the management is well organised and well
versed in all aspect of care. The social activities with regular visits by a variety of entertainers etc appear to be well appreciated by the residents and I have been encouraged by the inclusion of mid-week services led by members of local churches. The premises whilst not the most modern have a homely environment. The catering is particularly impressive with excellent home cooked nutritious food served every day. As time goes on I feel more and more reassured that my wife is in very safe hands and whilst suffering from advanced Alzheimers she is always relaxed, contented and in good humour when I visit. I am extremely grateful for all that is provided.

I am very impressed with this lovely home. The staff are so lovely, nothing is ever too much trouble. They are always happy, cheerful and welcoming. The manager is approachable and friendly. The food is good, and there is always a choice. The home is clean and homely and has a lovely warm feeling when
you enter.

Most staff are very caring and never mind being asked of rhelp. One carer in particular actually seems ot like being asked to help and always asks if there is anything else she can do. When I asked for a coffee she brought it to my room on a tray with milk in a jug and sugar in a bowl and a beaming
smile.

Amazing care from all the staff. My mum was made to feel very welcome in what felt like a very homely home. Even though the building itself looks a little tired.

I have spent two weeks here and have been able to relax and regain my physical and mental strength.
The staff are lovely, plenty of privacy and respect.
I would recommend Fitzwilliam House to anybody who is thinking of coming here.

Georgiana joined the Fitzwilliam House team on 1st July 2025. Georgiana
brings with her over 10 years of experience in the adult health and social care sector, with a strong background in residential and dementia care.


Throughout her career, Georgiana has held different senior positions at Excelcare Homes, including Unit Manager and Dementia Lead. During her time in these roles, she played a pivotal part in supporting homes to achieve compliance, improve quality, and deliver truly person-centred care.


Her warm, approachable nature and wealth of expertise make her a natural fit for leading the team at Fitzwilliam House
