We asked the staff if we could have a small family get together to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday. Not only did they fully agree to our request, they decorated the cafe/bar area and laid on a birthday spread of snacks, sandwiches, cake and soft drinks - fantastic. The staff made the whole event memorable and have our utmost thanks.

Mum moved into The Hillings in November 2020. She was made to feel very welcome by the staff and after an initial period, where she felt a bit unsure with her surroundings, she is now very settled there. We know she is safe and well looked after and now seems to be thriving in The Hillings environment.

My mother always seems content. The staff have always been very helpful and informative and friendly. Mother says the food is very nice and plentiful. The home has provided much-needed support for visiting relatives during this difficult pandemic which has been invaluable. I feel my mother is safe and well cared for.

In all my dealings with all staff in this home, I cannot praise them enough. They are always available to keep me updated about my mother's welfare. I haven't been around the home as I normally sit in a visitors room, but Mother tells me it is a comfortable establishment.

My mother has been a resident for a few years now and is very happy there. The staff are without exception friendly, caring and professional. I have been extremely impressed by the way they have and are continuing to cope with the pandemic regulations. They have been under enormous pressure, looking after everyone but it has not affected the quality of care to their residents or the way relatives are treated. When I phone to arrange a visit, or for any other reason, whoever answers the phone is always cheerful and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them and I know my mother is being well cared for every day. Although visiting is limited at the moment, the staff are keeping the residents' spirits up and organising things for them to do as well as all their usual work. They should all be congratulated for coping so well. I have no hesitation in recommending this home and am so glad that we managed to obtain a place for my mother there.

The Hillings was the first choice of my relative as she had visited in the past and I was quite happy to go along with her choice. The home is clean, tidy and well maintained as is very 'homely'. Due to the pandemic, I have been unable to visit this year as I am shielding, so it gives me peace of mind that she is happy and well looked after. The staff are always friendly, kind and helpful and if there is a problem we are contacted and kept informed at all times. Thank you for all your care.

Very noisy - Doors (outer) banging shut, other doors squeaking night and day - trollies very noisy, can hear staff talking during the night. Bells (alarm) ringing for 20-30 minutes at times. No hot drinks, always at bedtime even if requested. Meals not very imaginative, especially tea time. Often items on menu not available or wrong description - Cobbler was only mince and mash, no baked potatoes. Payment should be based on amount of care/support, not on a fixed rate. Would only award four stars overall. Would like fish cakes/fingers for tea occasionally. Being in this environment I am losing my own sanity. Be glad to get home.

I have only been living at The Hillings for a few months but it is wonderful. The staff are so nice. They let me still wash up and lay the table for meal times like I would have at my home. There is always something to do, live music, exercise classes, visits from the local churches and animal visits which are great. I cannot talk more highly of The Hillings.

Dad went into care for 2 weeks convalescence following an acute hospital admission. He was in the final stages of a chest infection and was weak and lacking in confidence. The care he was given was excellent and he soon started eating again and regained his strength and positive attitude. His mobility greatly improved and he was able to return to his flat at the age of 92.
