Someone living with our definition of "mild dementia" might experience some or all of the following:

- In certain types of dementia, personality and behaviour changes may be present alongside or instead of issues with memory or concentration.
Moderate Dementia
Someone living with our definition of "moderate dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Worsened memory problems. Not always recognising own family members and friends. Repeating the same questions over and over again
- Worsened language and communication issues, forgetting what they are saying mid-sentence. Not being able to understand what someone else is saying
- More frequent confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness
- Loss of inhibition
- Difficulties sleeping or waking during the night and behaving as though it is daytime - loss of circadian rhythm.
Advanced Dementia
Someone living with our definition of "severe dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Severe memory problems. Not recognising family members and friends. Not being able to recall their own name
- Severe language and communication issues, not being able to understand what someone else is saying
- Severe confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations

Kind respectful and caring staff with a strong sense of treating people as if they are there own family member .
Really get to know residents likes /dislikes attention to small details this makes such a lot of difference to the day to day lives of the residents.

Every effort was made in my mothers case to make her last few weeks as comfortable as was humanly possible for which .I shall be forever great full

End of life care can be the hardest but most rewarding part of care, having an amazing family who support us as a home throughout the process is invaluable. Your mum was a very special lady and that shone through in the support that she had from all of you. my best wishes always.

Overall Experience
Mum spent 26 months at Springfield, it is a very friendly home not too big so there is a lot of one to one interaction with the residents. Nice clean rooms and activities for residents also nice outside space in the summer months.
Mum was well looked after, staff would spend time with her colouring, painting, and doing her hair for her, unfortunately had to move her which was a sad day.
If ever there are any problems management would be in contact and open to discuss solutions.

Very friendly extremely helpful management team, always have time to chat and happy to sort any little concerns I had within minutes.
Care staff very helpful and attentive,
Always offered hot drinks when ever we visited and sometimes even a meal, that smelt lovely, cooks really friendly as well as domestics .

Although this wasn't ultimately the right environment for my mum's individual needs, the staff genuinely tried their best to support her and us as a family, and we are grateful for the care and kindness shown during her stay.

My mother has been a resident for over four years. Living quite a distance away, l feel confident that she is safe and well cared for.
The staff are easy to approach and very helpful on visits and over the phone.
The management and staff are quick to deal with any concerns they or I have and prompt in contacting me.

She is on friendly terms with the staff who have mostly been there since before her arrival and is encouraged to take part in any of the many activities going on.

My mother has received excellent care and consideration at Springfield in the year she has been there. A member of the family visits almost every day, so we are able to keep a close eye on things. Visitors also are treated with care and respect, and the whole set-up is very friendly and as much home-from-home as they can make it. The food is generally very good, Mum doesn't eat fish, which they serve every Friday, so they always provide her with something different. They provide drinks and snacks throughout the day, which visitors also are offered.

Overall Experience
My mother is a resident at Springfields she has been there for 2 years plus now I am a registered nurse of 37 years and have worked in elderly care all my career so feel I’m a good judge here. My mum is exceptionally happy here the staff are lovely they are friendly, helpful and I have confidence that my mother is safe there. When I have an issue it is dealt with promptly and I get feedback too. Staff remain at this home for a long time and it is good for continuity of care. The management is prompt and deals with things in a timely manner we visit on many occasions at various times and never have any concerns, we are welcomed warmly into the home offered drinks and made comfortable we are very happy with mum being at Springfields.
