Dangerously understaffed, they cannot either recruit or retain staff, have no routine and seem to lurch from one disaster to the next. Very uncomfortable place to live, even for a short time. The food is absolutely awful, no nutritional value whatsoever, cooked badly and really inedible. The view is nice but it really isn't worth staying somewhere that is a really unacceptable shared wet room.

My advice is to keep looking, you will find somewhere far superior to this home.

The staff are very professional and friendly. My Aunt is very well looked after and the staff make all the residents feel like family. They do lots of activities with all the residents to keep them entertained and motivated all the time.
I believe my Aunts happiness and well being has improved since she moved to Brooke House and can't thank the staff enough.
I would highly recommend Brooke House and their staff and feel all the staff go above and beyond the role they need to do to make sure all the residents are well cared for and are looked after and happy.
The manager has gone well beyond her role with my Aunt and us with her support and care and I can't thank her enough.

Great place and staff first class.

My friend's sister is a resident and I often visit with her. The staff are always very friendly and attentive, nothing is too much trouble for them. It seems a very happy place and my friend's sister seems contented there.

My 91-year-old mother, recently spent 6 weeks at Brooke House, following a stay in hospital with Covid.
I was extremely impressed with the care they gave her. She was in need of assistance as she had been bedridden for nearly 2 months, but with their guidance, she soon resumed her normal sprightly self.
The home was clean and the staff could not be faulted, showing a great degree of care, friendliness and efficiency. My Mum felt the food was both wholesome and appetising. Any questions from me were always answered promptly.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Brooke House and would be happy for her to stay there again if ever needed.

My Mum has been staying on a temporary basis for respite. The staff have been nothing but accommodating. Mum looks the best she has been for years. Her appetite has come back due to the lovely meals. She is settled. The staff know her well and are able to give detailed updates on events, her care and needs. I have been able to relax knowing that she is stimulated and happy and enjoying her stay. She has been in very safe and caring hands. Mum has been in very safe hands.

I found the home ideal. The staff are very friendly, attentive and assisted my mother to settle down - in what is a new environment for her. They also help me with any questions I wish to ask. My mother enjoys the food and the personal attention she receives throughout the day. The management team are also very helpful in sorting out queries I have.

Both my parents are in care here, my father due to his great age and my mother who has alzhiemers. All the staff here are friendly, helpful and very caring. The food is home-cooked and excellent with a choice each day. There is plenty of entertainment to keep body and mind active, overall I don't think I could have found a better place for my parents.

My sister has been in Brooke House for nine months. The care she receives is outstanding and is always happy when we visit. Her husband was in Brooke House for three weeks before he passed away, the help, care and understanding he received in his last days were wonderful.

My dad was in need of urgent care and I made an online enquiry and the manager reacted straight away.
From there, she sorted everything out in 24 hours, changing surgeries, arranging nursing, a room and we arrived.

Due to my mum not being able to care for dad and need to have home care, Brooke House have allowed us to pay weekly as long as we need care. I cannot thank them enough for looking after my dad. They do amazing work that goes unnoticed. They are all fabulous.

The staff at Brooke House showed the same care and affection for my mother as they would for one of their own family, despite the demanding behaviour caused by her dementia. They were also extremely supportive to my sister and me making a difficult situation easier to cope with.

Brooke House is very professional and caring. My 63-year-old wife has now been a resident for 10 weeks and is suffering from mixed dementia (Alzheimer's and vascular dementia). The staff are welcoming to me, my family and friends and have helped us in this very difficult and emotional time and have helped my wife settle so quickly. She is happy in her own 'bubble' and is safe and comfortable.

Overall Experience

Mum had lived at Brooke House for 9 years until her death in June. She always said how happy she was living in 'her' house as she regarded it. She particularly enjoyed the gardens and the views which reminded her of places in her past. She loved to talk about her life and staff members always had time to listen and share her memories. She was helped and encouraged to be as independent and lead as normal a life as possible despite the Alzheimers from which she suffered. More recently when she became unwell and increasingly frail she was very well looked after and in her final hours, she was not left unattended until her passing. This is a reflection on the home of the care, commitment and compassion shown to Mum over the years and in her end of life care. From our perspective, we have always been made welcome when visiting and have had any questions or queries answered. Their caring and kindness were extended to us at a very difficult time even providing a funeral tea for the family.

Brooke House is wonderful. I had to move both parents here at short notice 3 years ago.

Mum has thrived despite losing her memory. Even dad initially reticent and ungracious has now succumbed to its charms. The house is clean, well kept, loving and friendly. The staff are amazing and so kind. There are no bells ringing unanswered, no foul smells, just laughter and genuine concern and respect for all residents.

Overall Experience

My father went into Brooke House in early Dec. He had suffered a stroke in August last year and then had a fall a couple of months later. It was clear that full-time care was needed. This being the case, he went into a home where his wife was already a resident, but it became clear he hated it and as a family, we felt quite uncomfortable about it. After searching, we came across Brooke House. From the minute I contacted them, the manager and the rest of the staff have been absolutely first class. My father has also now been diagnosed with vascular dementia, and there is no doubt he can be quite a handful at times with his demands, but the staff at Brooke House have been brilliant, taking every issue and problem in their stride very professionally. Up until this time, I have nothing but praise for the manager and her hard-working staff and would have no hesitation in recommending them to anybody looking for a Care Home that would give them great service and more importantly, peace of mind.
