My wife had to go into a care home as I’m 85 years old and was no longer able to provide the care at home that she needed. This care home was once used by a dear friend of ours and we did visit every a few times before she passed on. We were so impressed with the care she received we had no hesitation in choosing Burgh House. My wife has now been there now one year and four months and because we have been married for over sixty-five years and very, very rarely separated she found it at first very difficult to settle in. The management went out of their way many times to help her settle in including changing her room and finding space during the day where she could continue with her hobby. They have been wonderful and she’s now very settled and happy and now helps any new guests to settle in if they are finding it difficult like she went through.

My dad was 95 and he went into Burgh House Care Home while we went on a break. The staff were kind and caring. His room was lovely and looked out onto the garden. He enjoyed his days there, they got him all his foods he liked to eat in. Nothing was too much trouble and I feel that I was listened to on all things I needed to know.

I have always found this care home to be very clean and the staff are very caring.
We have not had any issues, mum has been here for around 7 years now.
There are activities during the week, leaving the weekends generally for family and friends visits.

The home did exceptionally well during the covid outbreak.

The carers that look after my nanny are kind and compassionate. They show love to her and make her feel like she isn’t alone as my nan sometimes finds it hard being away from her own home. The facilities and the environment are amazing. Just an overall lovely place

I am most impressed by the general attitude of the staff and the care they take to preserve the dignity of those cared for. Those cared for are referred to as residents, not patients. The clothes they are given to protect their clothes are called napkins, not feeders. The windows are set low in the walls which looks strange from outside but this makes the residents able to see outside rather than just looking at the sky. There is no smell of urine at all.

My dad recently became a permanent resident at Burgh House. As a family, we did not really want to see Dad in a care home, but unfortunately, it was no longer possible to manage him at home. The team at Burgh House have been so understanding of all my worries and any issues that arise they always address promptly. The care staff and management team really do care and will look at each resident as an individual. They are happy to discuss and implement individual requests/needs even if these are not part of the usual routines. Thank you to all the team. I would definitely recommend.

My aunt moved to Burgh House in March 202, sadly dying in late October at the fantastic age of 98. Burgh House staff made the last few months of my aunt's life as happy and comfortable as they possibly could. I had confidence in them, their care and their professionalism. I felt they always had my aunt's best interests at heart and were welcoming of her family. As a social care manager myself I would have no hesitation in recommending Burgh House, its staff and management team for looking after my aunt so well in those last few months of her life.

From the first phone call to the manager who came to our home which was very informal, discussed Burgh House and the service they provided for my father. Initially my father was going to stay for respite for a month. We have now a confirmed diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. Unfortunately, we are unable to sustain the high level of care in his own home. The manager and staff were very welcoming.

My Aunt was resident in Burgh House from May 2019 to September 2021, and during that time had excellent care from the team there. From being in a confused, lonely and physically weak state on arrival she improved immediately and enjoyed the company of the residents and being the home where her mother (my grandmother) was resident for many years too. During the covid19 pandemic, the staff at management at Burgh House diligently protected the residents and kept them safe.

Our mum has only been at Burgh House for a week and she is already looking so much better. She’s so much happier too and more relaxed. The owner/manager has been excellent, friendly and professional and organised everything for her arrival in a very short time. He, along with the staff have made the transition so smooth and made mum feel so welcome and my sister and me. Everything that was said would be done has been done and mum is settling in well. My thanks to you all.

My Mum was in Burgh House for about 2 1/2 years.
The care given was always excellent. Carers kept in touch, with care plans and changes reported to my sister and I. The Manager and secretary always kept in touch about any problems, and the information was always given in an appropriate and professional manner. The food was good with lots of variety. My sister and I could not have asked for better care for our mum, we as a family would recommend Burgh House to any families looking to keep their loved ones safe and looked after while needing care and assistance in their later years.

Thanks to all involved in my mum’s journey.

My mum has been here since September 2020. Can't rate the home enough. From staff to activities. Even during the lockdown. Communication is great. The staff are friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The home is exceedingly clean, well decorated and homely. When allowed days out are organized and unlike some homes, we can pick mum up when we want to take her out.
All staff and management are prepared to help residents when needed.

10/10 in all aspects of the home.

My sister has been a permanent resident at Burgh House since July 2019. The care she has received during that time has been excellent, the management and staff provide a very high-quality care package for the residents and every effort is made to ensure that the residents are happy and well looked after. My sister is very happy to be living at Burgh House and I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone who is looking for a care home for their loved one/s.

My lovely nan has resided at Burgh House for twenty months. When she came to you, she had had a lengthy stay in hospital and had been very unwell.
Nan soon began to flourish and became stronger with each passing day with the love and care from all the wonderful care team. She truly thrived on the tasty home-cooked food and loved all of the entertainment that is offered - particularly the sing-along parties!
She had become frightened in her own home, but this fear evaporated at Burgh House, and this was a pure joy to see.
Nan became my nan again, and for that, I will always be so grateful.

My Nan sadly passed away last week, but even at this incredibly difficult time, this wonderful home shone through. With careful safety checks, I was able to be with my nan in her final days. My nan was cared for with such love, dignity and compassion by the amazing team, and I too was always so well supported. I cannot thank you all enough for everything you have done.

My Mother recently had 3 weeks convalescence care at Burgh House following a lengthy hospital stay, and from start to finish, the attention to her needs were absolutely first class. Mum had endured a very difficult few months with ill health, and was in great need of TLC - she was certainly given great care and attention. She had a lovely bright en suite room, and all her needs were met and indeed exceeded. I had real concerns about Mums potential to fall but the Manager and his team went above and beyond, to ensure her safety at all times, and kept a close watch on her mobility (and safety) as her health and strength began to improve and she became more mobile. All the staff, without exception, were cheerful and helpful, and Mum enjoyed her daily visits from the chef! She happily advised that the food was really lovely! The Manager communicated with me regularly about Mums welfare, and even with the present Covid issue, very careful visits were supported. The whole team deserve a big thank you!

We found the staff very friendly and welcoming. Mother went there for respite following a stay in hospital with a broken leg so she was not very mobile. Staff listened carefully to the family when putting together a care plan. Mum had regular welfare checks to ensure her wellbeing. Staff were also very accommodating in allowing visits where possible, which helped with mum's mental wellbeing as well as her physical recovery.
