Downham Grange Nursing Home

My late husband was a resident at the Grange for seven weeks. He was discharged from hospital into their care. His needs were very complex but he was cared for superbly. The nursing care was exceptional, every single nurse went above and beyond. I found every carer to be so lovely they were all efficient, caring, competent and friendly not only to him but to his relatives too, we were also really looked after. Everyone who is employed there are friendly and so very supportive, caring and friendly. I couldn't recommend the Grange enough they were all marvellous.

The Grange is very good. I feel that a introduction pack is required for the family ie like being told about changing doctor for the resident. Leaving a list when toiletries are required. Also clothing with room number on. What food can be taken in. When resident needs feet or haircut, also told about these costs at the start. Meet the manager at least once a year and being introduce to them.

Thee only problem I have got with the care home has no air conditioning, I go in to see my wife every day I do not think the carers should have to work in these conditions

The home has become much more welcoming and homely than it was, mainly because of the wonderful staff, in particular the activities team. One lady in this dedicated team, who has been a great help to my mother over the past two years goes above and beyond to do all she can for the residents to make their lives more fulfilled. Hardworking and very conscientious. She is a great asset to the home. All the staff are a pleasure to know.

I wanted to sincerely thank all the staff who have cared for our mum at The Grange whilst on respite over the last 3 months . The staff have been such kind , compassionate, caring and genuinely lovely people . Mum has loved and enjoyed the company of so many individual staff members. As a family we have been so pleased with the care provided to mum . The individual staff members who we have met over the weeks have been such wonderful people . Many of the staff have gone far over and above what we ever hoped with the very person centred care and support they have provided to mum and us as her family . The positivity and kindness has been second to none . The staff work exceptionally hard and always treat mum with such respect supporting her as an individual . We have also been very impressed with the activities and social opportunities arranged for residents . The kitchen staff and domestic staff in particular have also been exceptional .

I have been very happy with the standard of care my husband has received at the Grange. The staff could not be more caring. He is always saying how kind the staff are. He always looks lovely and clean and well cared for when I visit. He loves to join in the activities with the other residents.

All staff should feel very proud of themselves such a great team of people.

All staff very friendly and helped me whenever I needed it. Their care helped me to recover from a very difficult time in my life. I enjoyed some of the activities, especially the gardening.

As a resident of the Grange I have found it to be a pleasant and comfortable place to be, as every person I have had the pleasure to meet has been very kind and caring.

Over the years I have put a number of family in residential homes. I have to say Brilliant the place is nicely maintained inside & out, and I have engaged with a number of the colleagues who are always happy to help and constantly smile and nothing is too much. I have worked in service industry most of my adult life and I would have been proud to have engaging people working for me that would have been a delight.

I feel slightly sorry for them as my mother is being a bit awkward, although when I have spoken to her she is delighted to be there and thinks its very nice. That's a bonus in anyones book.

This was the most difficult time for me. All the staff were amazing and supportive. They reassured me Mum would be taken care of and safe. Had a tour around the home and explain how/what happens. They let me bring Mum in before her stay to try and familiarise herself with the place and do some activities, meet the residents. They made Mum feel very comfortable. Always talking to her directly. I did find it a little stressful sorting contract, had to chase a couple of times, not what I needed when already stressed putting Mum into respite. Overall I was very pleased and happy.

100% excellent. Good staff. Good care, happy with everything. All staff are good and are on the go all day. I am happy with the care my husband gets. The room is clean and airy and is suitable for his needs. Thank you.

My mum has been living at Downham Grange for some time now, and I couldn't be more grateful for the care she receives. The staff are exceptional-kind, attentive, and consistently go the extra mile to make sure residents are comfortable, respected, and genuinely cared for. Mum is treated with such warmth and dignity, and it's been a huge comfort to see her so settled and happy. The atmosphere is always welcoming, and it's clear that the entire team works with heart. I'd also like to give special praise to the management at Downham Grange. The managers are approachable, professional, and clearly passionate about providing the highest standard of care. Their leadership truly sets the tone for the whole home. Thank you to everyone-you're making a real difference every day.

My friend's grandad is being cared for at Downham Grange care home, and has been there for a few months. We visited him on a Sunday and he really enjoys it there.Must especially the care given to his goddad is topnotch. Carers are so respectful, loving and quick to response. His grandad looked well cared for and his room was clean and neat. He actually enjoys his routine activities at the Grange and I most say was pleased with the quality of care at the home. I will recommend this care home to anyone in and around for it's a place to be. I wish they continue in this spirit, and if given long life, that will surely be my place in my old age.

Had my god mother for respite care at Downham Grange. Visited on two occasions and could attest the care given to my godmother was really good. First of all, at the entrance to the home I received a warm welcome from the receptionist, who guided me to my god mother's room. The environment so clean and was very delighted with the smiles on the carers face. My god mother told us she loved it there especially with the fact that the residential unit is very quiet and she called it her 5 star safe place. Food served was hot and delicious, she enjoyed breakfast and above all lunch as it's always with other residents where they chat. I will confirm the Grange is a place to be and would recommend anyone looking for a hospitable and loving environment to be with to chose Downham Grange.

The care was very good. They took a personal interest in my mother. Everything went smoothly as far as I know.

I cannot find fault with the Grange at all. The staff, from reception through to care and nursing, are brilliant, and the cleaners are brilliant, plus cares are really nice to us as to the resident. Their needs are met, as are ours. Cleanliness and tidiness is amazing. Thank you, Grange for all you do.
