Rachel was happy to chat with us, along with Hayley and their team who are always very welcoming.
Mum seems settled and content in the home environment.
On occasions when we have visited and there has been entertainment, Mum always seems bright and enjoys the music.

Olive House has a warm, friendly and very human feel. My dad is in the early stages of dementia, and what matters most to me is that the staff seem genuinely engaged with him and committed to his well-being. Everyone I have met has been kind, approachable and helpful, and there is a clear sense that
residents are treated with dignity and care. Overall, I am very happy and reassured that Dad is being looked after by a team that wants the best for him.

Mum has been a resident for 2 years . All the staff are caring and treat mum with fondness and respect. And show unlimited patience with her dementia spending time with her on days that she wants to stay in her room. The home is clean and very well presented with a lovely seated area in the garden.
The food is delicious and there is always a good choice at meal times.
There are different activities every day to engage residents from baking ,painting , entertainers. Mum has enjoyed all of these as well as the visit from the owl sanctuary.
There are also organised trips out for residents that wish to go .
Mum also enjoys having her hair done every week by the hairdresser .
Its such a relief to know mum is settled and cared for so well , with the knowledge that I can call or visit any time and there will always be a warm and supportive welcome for me too. The new manager always makes time if I need to talk about mums care.
I 100% recommend Olive House
Reply from Rachel Gee, Home Manager at Olive HouseThank you so much for your lovely words about Olive House. It means a lot to us to hear how happy and settled your mum is. The team really do care about her, so knowing that you see and feel that makes all the difference.
We're glad she enjoys the activities, the garden, the food, and her weekly hair appointments - and we loved hearing how much she enjoyed the owl visit too. Moments like that are exactly why we do what we do.
It's also great to know you always feel welcome when you visit or call. We want families to feel just as supported as the residents, and your feedback really reassures us that we're getting that right.
Thank you again for recommending us and for trusting us with your mum's care. It's a privilege to look after her.

My mother has been in the care of Olive House for over 2 years. Along with other family members we have always been made to feel welcome on visits, there's a friendly, warm vibe throughout the home. The home itself has a modern feel to it with wide corridors & everything on one level. Regularly decorated
and always clean. Carers, staff & management are friendly and we feel that Mum is well looked after by a caring, hardworking team.
Reply from Rachel Gee, Home Manager at Olive HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback. It truly means a great deal to our whole team. We're delighted to hear that you and your family continue to feel welcomed and supported during your visits, and that the atmosphere of the home gives you confidence in the care your mother receives.

We take pride in maintaining a clean, modern, and comfortable environment, and it's wonderful to know this has made a positive difference to your experience. Most importantly, your kind words about our carers, staff, and management team are deeply appreciated. They work incredibly hard to provide compassionate, person-centred care, and feedback like this reinforces why they do what they do.

Thank you again for your trust and for being part of the Olive House community.

Olive House is an outstanding care home, offering fantastic care for all residents. My mum has been a resident here for 4 years and has been cared for by dedicated and experienced staff. The staff (especially two specific members of staff) have been so supportive to both my mum and myself, always offering
friendly chat but most of all ensuring that I know my mum is being cared for, especially when I am unable to get there. They really are both fantastic members of the team who I look forward to seeing when I come in.

My mum has a been a resident of Olive House since January 2022. I have nothing but praise and thanks for all the staff who have looked after mum with kindness, dignity and respect.
The staff communicate with myself and my siblings regularly and always make us welcome when we visit, especially with
providing us with refreshments as they know we have travelled some distance to visit.
We love the various entertainment and activities offered and know mum is a firm favourite of the celebrity acts.

My Mum has only been at Olive House for just over two weeks, but she already considers it her home, which makes me very happy. She says that every single member of staff is extremely kind and caring, doing everything possible to make sure she's happy. We sat in the sun on the patio today and Mum said
' You couldn't have chosen a better home for me, this is lovely' Needless to say, my mind is at rest, thank you All at Olive House.

Moved mam to Olive House as concerned about level of care in previous home. So glad I did. Although only at Olive House for 7 months, she was treated with such love and respect. I really couldn't have asked for more. The management team and all the staff were amazing. Nothing too much trouble. As well
the physical support mam needed, the emotional support she received was excellent. Staff genuinely care about their residents, you can really see that. My only regret was I hadn't got mam there sooner. Mam sadly passed away after 6 days of end of care. The support she received as well myself and family, meant the world to me. I couldn't have got through the last few days with Mam without them. I don't really have the words to express how I feel about everyone at Olive House. How they dealt with mam after she passed, she looked beautiful. For them all to be there when mam was taken by the funeral home, meant so much. On behalf of Mam, myself and her grandsons.. thank you so very much xx

The staff always listen and act on queries and do feedback by phone. One member of staff in particular goes above and beyond to help residents and relatives. The manager is always on hand to listen and respond and noticeable improvements since she started in post e.g staff ID board, outings, more activities
and the reception area is more welcoming with refreshments and reception desk.

Trips out of the care home seem to be few and far between. If a person with dementia is asked if they want to go, so how are they to know what's going on.
Contact with relatives is essential when trips out, organised by the care home are coming up, so we can prepare our relative for it.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.715)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.715) out of 10 for Olive House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.740 for Olive House is calculated as follows: ( (171 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 223 Ratings = 4.74
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Olive House is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
