I must make it clear that I am in respite care, and though 80, still have completely clear and not befuddled mind (I still attempt the newspaper crossword with fairly satisfactory results - a bit rusty but the settings have changed) I am not here because I want to be, but because it would be very inconvenient
for relatives and friends if I discharged myself so this should be borne in mind if I seem negative. I am not stimulated by the activities, I find the routine haphazard and the cooking dire.
The staff are helpful and respectful and the regime is relaxed, generally. I would like more exercise for mind and body. Generally, a friendly and helpful atmosphere and I marvel at the forbearance of the staff in dealing with some of the residents.

I was allowed to have a safe distance visit to see my 92-year-old Mum in the garden on her birthday. Then later that day she was given a tea party which sadly I couldn't be indoors for, to share it with her. The staff are extremely kind and caring and made her feel safe during the lockdown.

I am happy here. The cook is good and a lovely lady.
I wasn't happy with the other cooks' food not being cooked.
I always tell my friends that I am happy here.

Olive House was the perfect answer to our respite needs. My mother, who has dementia, spent 2 weeks here while my husband and I had a break. The care staff were great, the food was lovely and we were able to rest knowing that mum was in great hands.
We especially liked the warm atmosphere when you
walked in. We were always welcomed at the door and any queries were welcomed and quickly sorted. The rooms were spotless, staff friendly. We couldn't have asked for more.

The staff were amazing with my father who ended his days in Olive House. They were so friendly and cheerful all the time. It was always a pleasure to visit, even when my father was very ill.
I would highly recommend the home as it was always clean and bright and the food was fabulous.

Mum came in to Olive House for respite after not being able to cope at home. I was worried about her being there but had no need to. It is a lovely place with great staff. Very friendly and very kind so much so I wouldn't mind a couple of weeks in there myself.

The vast majority of staff are outstanding - they listen to concerns, address issues and are kind and caring. The senior carers are both professional and excellent when dealing with medical emergencies.
The food is excellent and offers good choices. With better communication and increased levels of
consistency among staff, this care home could be outstanding on all levels.

Our dearest friend (who we acted as family to) came to Olive House for respite care/holiday and loved it so much she didn't want to leave. From top to bottom staff are excellent and caring. Activities are perfectly tailored and enjoyed by the residents.


During the 4 1/2 years she was there the staff

became like close friends to her and us. When her health deteriorated to being bed-ridden, the care and dignity shown to her was impeccable. It was her home and both her and Olive House will be missed by us.

My dear friend moved into Olive House on 21/10/13 for respite. From the first day, she loved it and did not want to leave she remained until her death 12/3/18. Almost blind she took part in all the activities, outings, fundraising with the help from the wonderful staff throughout her residency. Her
final weeks where she needed more attention all of the staff loved her and she loved them. You would never get a moan or complaint from her. as she had no immediate family friends were her visitors. Who were all happy with the care everyone gave her. Olive House is a wonderful home which I shall continue to visit as I have made many friends a real family home.

My mother had lived at Olive House for nearly three years during which time I felt that she was well cared for by the staff who went above the call of duty. My mother was happy and settled there and enjoyed the company of the staff and the way they went about their duties. In particular two members
of staff who were so caring and supportive to my daughter and me in the final days and made everything that little more bearable.
