My brother has been at Hazeldell for over a year now, (although because of lockdown, we could not visit after mid-March 2020).
He has been very settled and happy since soon after he arrived. The atmosphere is quiet and calm which is right for him, and the staff are always engaging with residents and
encouraging whilst allowing him time and freedom to do his own thing when safe (and he loves to wander.) He has been involved in countless activities and loves listening to music and dancing with staff, meeting animals and having time outside when the weather is good.
He has maintained a healthy weight and enjoys his food - especially the sweet puddings and cakes the kitchen makes!
I was worried when he was going into residential care but have had no concerns since he has been a Hazeldell resident. Sincere thanks to all the staff for the care delivered, especially during the Covid outbreak, keeping him and others safe.
I love the app too - I can log in and check what he's up to daily.

I am very happy that my dad is living at Hazeldell. The staff always treat dad with dignity and respect. With the Covid virus, I wouldn't want Dad anywhere else, and the fact that there have been no infections speaks well of management and staff. The staff have been brilliant looking after all the residents,
doing everything they can to keep the home Covid free. When I want to see Dad, staff make sure he is safe and maintaining a safe distance.

Both parents have been at this care home for around five years. The care is good depending on who you have as your key carer. Mum passed away in April and had mostly good care apart from one particular key worker who wasn't the best, but Dad looks well considering the situation we are in at the minute.

I highly recommend Hazeldell residential home. I would like to sincerely thank the manager and all of his wonderful staff for the love and care they give to mum every day, especially throughout the coronavirus, as these have been very difficult times. I know mum is very happy there.
Thank you all

I was a bit reluctant at first to move my auntie to the home but it has been the best place for her. The staff has been so caring, supportive, and chatty on visits, which you can visit as often as you like and when, and will keep you up to date with all information regarding my auntie. I can not fault
the home at all. On arrival, they wanted background information so they could chat about things my auntie would be interested in to support her on her transition from another home. Through the coronavirus, the staff keeps you up to date with everything going on making sure everyone is kept as safe as possible. Would recommend this home to all x

Hazeldell is a wonderful Care home. My mother has been there since December 2018. The Manager is brilliant, very caring and ensures that everything runs smoothly. The care staff, I know nearly all of them very well and they are all hardworking people. Nothing is too much trouble, during the lockdown,
they have gone that extra mile to ensure I get face-times with Mum, which has been brilliant, stops me worrying being able to see her and knowing how she is doing. I have already recommended to someone to visit Hazeldell to see for themselves when it is possible to visit. Brilliant news also they are COVID-19 free, all residents and staff have been tested. They were one of the first to go into lockdown to protect our relatives and this was certainly a great decision on the Manager's part. Also, I am able to view on the relative's gateway to see mum's daily update on her meals, how she is feeling, totally reassuring. Beautiful gardens, beautiful people, I recommend this care home 100%.

My mother lived st Hazeldell for many years. During that time, I visited often and was always impressed by the staff with they're infinite patience and care towards the residents and they're relatives and in particular, my mother. I was always informed when there was any concern or change in her health.
The staff were always helpful and willing to help my mother whenever it was needed. I cannot speak more highly of Hazeldell and would recommend to anyone.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.609)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.609) out of 10 for Hazeldell is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.784 for Hazeldell is calculated as follows: ( (149 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 167 Ratings = 4.784
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hazeldell is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Care Home Manager Joined: 2017

Hello, I'm Emma and I started in care when I was 18 years old, this was due to my nan getting dementia and it inspired me to want to care for others. I began my career as a domiciliary carer working in people's own homes, to help them retain their independence by remaining at home. I worked in this role for 9 years before having a short break to have my children.

I then started at Hazeldell in 2017 as a Senior Carer, progressing into management in 2019 as a Deputy Manager, to then take on the role of Manager in 2021. Now as Home Manager, I strive to give my home a person-centred approach to care.
