My mother in law was a resident at the Malthouse for over 4 years.
She recently had to be admitted in a hospital and she sadly passed away on Tuesday the 7th of July 2026.
A member of staff who I couldn't speak highly enough of.
She certainly went out of her way everyday going into the evenings and over the past couple of weekends to support ourselves.
She even came to the hospital to visit my mother in law.
Her work that she does daily is far beyond what is expected from her.

All the staff there are totally amazing.

Mum has been a resident for 2 years, Dad also until his passing last year. The care is excellent, the home is quiet and clean and well staffed. All ethics and issues of capacity and consent are scrupulously observed. The staff are always very helpful and communicative.

Mu auntie needed to be looked after for emergency rest bite and The Malthouse was able to assist us with this at short notice. The assistance manager who's service was outstanding, and was able to turn it around smoothly within 24 hours. My auntie was only there for a short time. My auntie enjoyed her short stay and said the food was excellant. The care she received was exceptional. I would highly recommend The Malthouse as a 5 star to anyone.

We suddenly needed to find a care home for my mother and I knew of The Malthouse because I had visited my uncle and aunt there and had such a good impression. She has been there for two months now and we have been very pleased with their care. She has told us that she likes it there and is well looked after and the people are kind. The scale and interior at The Malthouse are cosy and homely unlike many such places and it has a pretty garden which I know my mother will enjoy. Yesterday was her 90th birthday and we did not until recently expect to be celebrating it with her in a care home but it was a lovely happy day. The staff had gone to some trouble to make it look very festive and were so helpful. It is clear from my dealings with the staff so far, that this is an exceptional place and the people working there really do care. The activities they put on are marvellous - my mother has not had so much social interaction in years and she has been on several day trips too.

During the five and a half years Mum was a resident at The Malthouse she received excellent care. Family members were always given a warm welcome and were kept well-informed aout Mum's ongoing care needs. During her final days palliative care was administered sensitively and we were contacted when there were any changes in Mum's condition.

I visited my friend living at The Malthouse a few days ago, she is so happy there + it's a lovely home from home. I also visited over Christmas + the decorations were absolutely beautiful. I found the staff very helpful + friendly + nothing was too much trouble. I was given tea + cake by the manager who was very pleasant + welcoming, as was the deputy manager as well.

My husband and I felt immediately that this home was ideal for Dad. It is like a very large house - no horrible bare floors everywhere! Cosy, nicely - furnished rooms, kind staff - nothing is too much trouble. Splendid activities and outings. Dad settled in so much better than I anticipated - sadly he had an unexpected stroke and died in June, but we could not have wished for a better last three months for a 95 year old man. Nice food, with little treats every afternoon - exquisite little cakes with drinks and visitors included! Very impressed with inter-staff briefings - whoever I spoke to on the phone would know what was going on with Dad. Keeping ungraspingly to about 23 residents is excellent for this. Touched by details - someone carefully sewed name labels in Dad's clothes by hand.

From my first phone enquiry with the manager to the day mum was well enough to return home, I've nothing but praise for all the staff at the Malthouse. Everyone has treated mum and us with the utmost respect, and supported us all throughout. The team are friendly, caring, humorous and throughout have communicated well with us as we have navigated mums journey to recovery. The garden party was a really, lovely and enjoyable event for everyone; thank you!

It was our friend's birthday, and we were amazed at the trouble the staff had gone to, to make the event special, from the elegant decorations to the delicious and well cooked meal. The whole atmosphere was positive and happy. Our friend had been quite dispirited when she had to give up independent living to go into a care home, so we had been a bit worried, how she would have settled, but she is so happy; so glad she is in The Malthouse and says she wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

We see our friend once a year as we live the rest of the year in North West England or Scotland. Her last birthday, she told us she was looking forward to her life ending; this year's birthday, she was enjoying life once more. My wife and I are so grateful that she recovered from her fall and is in a safe, happy place.

We booked a period of respite care for mum following a fall injury and a difficult period in a hospital at a considerable distance from her home. Managers at the Care Home were very patient with repeated delays with her hospital discharge which we greatly appreciated during an emotionally difficult and logistically challenging period. They also offered clear and helpful advice about processes and considerations that were new territory to us and themselves communicated pro-actively with the hospital.

The Malthouse has a warm, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere both for service users and their visitors. We were immediately confident that mum would be comfortable and cared for with skill, professionalism and dignity. The Malthouse staff are, without exception in our experience, wonderful in their work. The skill sets, attributes, and humanity of those who care so beautifully for others are deserving of the respect and gratitude of us all.
