Both my parents have been residents at The Malthouse since 2021. From the very start I, and my parents, have been happy with the genuine caring and homely atmosphere. This is fostered by the managers and delivered by all the carers, chefs and support staff (cleaners and entertainment). The end-of-life care recently given to my father was gentle, thorough and supportive to his family. The staff have an excellent relationship with the GP surgery and always consult them when they have any concerns. In short, we have been, and continue to be, very lucky to have found The Malthouse.
Thank you for taking the time to send this review, it has been our pleasure to care for your parents here. We were very sorry for the sad loss of your father and it remains a pleasure that we can continue to offer the care and support to both your mother and yourselves. On behalf of the care team thank you so much for the kind comments, that is really appreciated.
My mum was at The Malthouse from November 2019 until she died in September 2024. She was very well looked after by all the friendly and caring staff.

My Mum had one of the independent living lodges within the Malthouse grounds for 2 years before her mobility became so reduced that she required the additional support and help that the care home provided to residents with their own room within The Malthouse. She has just passed away, but those precious few years within The Malthouse were exemplary. It has care at its heart coming from the manager, deputy manager and all their staff. Every single member of staff I met during Mum's stay there in the last 2 years of her life made her life better and so made my own life better, confident that the very best service was being provided at all times day and night. The Malthouse goes far beyond the normal in every aspect of care, including caring for the family of the resident. Mum was even allowed to keep her cat in her room which meant the world to her. Thank you Malthouse on behalf of my mum and the rest of our family. You thoroughly deserve all the 5-star ratings.

Very fortunate to find my father-in-law a wonder care home, for the past 4 years he has been treated as family. His memory was very poor, but he always said he had a good meal and food was very important to him. The care staff went above and beyond and made sure he was always well looked after, as if he was in his own home. Can't thank this care home enough. Sadly, my father-in-law passed away and it was so reassuring to see the care staff and management at his funeral. A wonderful care home.

My aunt had been in the same house for 94 years before arriving at The Malthouse but only took a couple of weeks to fully settle in.

My mother has been in the Malthouse for 7 years. Many of the staff on the ground are lovely but sadly it is clear, that they are not always happy. When my mother entered the home it was privately run and there was notable investment back into the home and nice touches. It is now much more...

(Alzheimer's) As his health deteriorated, the staff maintained a professional approach and at the end, were completely accommodating to his and the family's needs. Once the predicted outcome happened, the sympathetic handling and very useful practical advice was invaluable.

My mother has made The Malthouse Residential Home her home for the last 8 years and has been very happy. The staff are caring, professional and supportive. My mother always enjoys the excellent food. When social services started to try to evict my mother as her money ran out The Malthouse staff were excellent with their support to keep her in her chosen home. My mother has to change rooms and likes her new room. Unfortunately, the room in the attic has very poor bathroom facilities and a sloping roof which really makes nursing difficult. The room could only be accessed by a stair chair. The sloping windows always covered in bird droppings. Not a pretty view for a bedridden person.
Thank you for taking the time to review our home and for your kind comments. We were glad to be able to assist you in helping your mother to remain living at The Malthouse. Sadly, some of our rooms don't always suit everybody but we do try to be as accommodating as we can.
The Malthouse has been excellent at looking after my mother. The people that work there have been brilliant in every respect. Caring, considerate and treating my mother like one of the family. This applies to kitchen staff, right through to management.

I was called by The Malthouse in July to say my mum had been assessed 'incontinence' as her pads should be on the next delivery. I was called by The Malthouse in July to say my mum had been assessed 'incontinence' as her pads should be on the next delivery. Rang up two weeks later saying Mum had run out of pads as she has not been assessed. Her TV was not working in August - reported it. Went back four days later and still, no TV working. Luckily, the chef came and sorted it. No one could help me regarding the monthly fee cost. I had to ring the head office.
Thank you for taking the time to review our Home. I am saddened by some of your comments and sorry you feel this way. It would be inappropriate for me to discuss anything private on such a public site and I am only too glad to discuss this and any other matters with you. It is a pleasure to care for your mother and thank you for choosing The Malthouse.
