The Old Vicarage Care Home is located in a scenic part of the Dorset countryside and offers a combination of friendliness and professionalism in order to help adults with care needs to enjoy a comfortable and stimulating lifestyle.

While being ideal for long-term residential needs, the home also maintains a respite service and offers day care to the surrounding communities. Carers are committed to understanding personal needs and adhering to a tailored approach.

A number of activities are organised to support personal interests and physical health, and residents have access to information technology while enjoying home-cooked meals.

The temporary garden cabin-style structure is equipped with two entrance points, a Perspex screen to separate visitors from residents and an intercom to make communicating easy. The room is also equipped with heating, insulation, fire safety measures and nurse call buttons. To book a visit in the pod, please contact the home manager.

The staff at The Old Vicarage seem to be really caring and lovely with Mum. She's happy with the room. Mum can sometimes feel a bit isolated in her room.
The receptionist is lovely too.
Mum would like more variety with the food offered, please.
Mum always looks clean and well-presented, with a
lovely hairdo.

Care, attention to detail, observation of condition all excellent. Food excellent.


Some essentials do need upgrading, in particular, bathing/shower facilities for my wife (this is an impression, not a fact!).

Since Mum was admitted in April for respite, she made the decision to stay as a resident. She enjoys being here. Perfect home for Mum as she enjoys countryside gardens.

My mum seems happy and well cared for and the staff are really nice. Mum really likes her room and enjoys looking out at the garden, which is very well maintained and very colourful at this time of year.


Re food - a bit more variety of fruit and veg would be good.


Re cleanliness - the room is

kept nice and clean overall but the carpet does need a shampoo.

In general, it has been a tough time for the carers. Lockdown restrictions and a senior management change have been very noticeable with regard to interaction and attention to detail. The vast majority of staff are very friendly and caring, and most of all, fun. The atmosphere is relaxed but professional.
Dad has settled in and, I believe, now is enjoying his new home.

Friendly and caring staff. Stayed for a few days and it was a pleasant enough experience. The only small negative is that the home needs some modernisation. The food was good and so was the choice.

I can't rate the staff of The Old Vicarage highly enough. They ensured that the last 3.5 years of my mother-in-law's life were enriched and fulfilled. She was really happy here. The staff are caring, compassionate, respectful and have endless patience. She made lots of friends at the home with the staff
and other residents. The home has a lovely home from home feel about it and we were always made to feel welcome. My mother-in-law thrived on all the activities that were provided, like flower arranging and the exercises and she also enjoyed the hairdresser visits and loved the beautiful garden. The staff were very good at keeping us updated, via newsletters and phone calls and were always accessible when we called up.

A huge thank you to the Manager and all her staff for the care and kindness they have shown my mother since she recently became a resident at The Old Vicarage. Compliments also to their hairdresser; I don’t think I’ve ever seen her hair so beautifully styled. The staff is exploring every avenue to improve
her health, general wellbeing, and quality of life for which all her family is extremely grateful. The Old Vicarage is set in idyllic, peaceful, beautifully maintained grounds. My mother has even been able to bring her beloved dog and this means so much to her, thank you.

Since Mum has been at the home she has been so happy and settled, the staff are so friendly and caring and very helpful.
The home has a lovely atmosphere and every visit is a pleasure.
The COVID testing is to the highest level and I feel confident every time I visit.

I have found the care of my relative exceptional. Any concerns I have are immediately dealt with. Coupled with the beautiful grounds and the home's location, it makes for an attractive place for someone to live.

The care my mum receives is excellent, she is very happy and enjoys all the activities provided. The Old Vicarage in my opinion is excellent and would recommend it to anyone who needs care provided by outstanding and caring staff. Would give the home top marks.

My sister aged 93, suffers from dementia but is very sympathetically cared for by the excellent staff who are most tolerant of her ways. She is well settled in The Old Vicarage and is very happy.

What I enjoy the most about my job is meeting new people who come to live with us and their families.
