I can't rate the staff of The Old Vicarage highly enough. They ensured that the last 3.5 years of my mother-in-law's life were enriched and fulfilled. She was really happy here. The staff are caring, compassionate, respectful and have endless patience. She made lots of friends at the home with the staff and other residents. The home has a lovely home from home feel about it and we were always made to feel welcome. My mother-in-law thrived on all the activities that were provided, like flower arranging and the exercises and she also enjoyed the hairdresser visits and loved the beautiful garden. The staff were very good at keeping us updated, via newsletters and phone calls and were always accessible when we called up.

Thank you very much for such a kind review. It is touching to know how close residents and families become to the home and the staff and that our home really is a home where people feel welcomed and loved. Our values are that we support both family and residents when they need it. It is something we are very proud of at The Old Vicarage.

A huge thank you to the Manager and all her staff for the care and kindness they have shown my mother since she recently became a resident at The Old Vicarage. Compliments also to their hairdresser; I don’t think I’ve ever seen her hair so beautifully styled. The staff is exploring every avenue to improve her health, general wellbeing, and quality of life for which all her family is extremely grateful. The Old Vicarage is set in idyllic, peaceful, beautifully maintained grounds. My mother has even been able to bring her beloved dog and this means so much to her, thank you.

Thank you for your wonderful comments. We have an excellent activity team that provide so many different and varied activities 7 days a week. It really encourages our residents to socialise which is so good for mental well-being, particularly over the past 18 months.

After making a hard decision, Mum joined the care home in August 2020 and she's so settled, looks very well and enjoys joining in with activities. I would recommend this home, wish I visited it earlier to see how it runs before the lockdown hit.

A big ‘thank you’ to you and all your staff for the kindness shown to my mother on her birthday. We had a lovely visit and she was very touched by the cake and the ‘Happy Birthday’ sung to her by the staff. We were also delighted to see the recliner chair we donated in use in the front lounge – Mum thoroughly enjoyed sitting in her old chair and looking out over the beautiful view. Mum seems so happy at the Old Vic and speaks very warmly of all the staff. She loves her walks in the gardens, the total peace, and all the nature around her (especially at the moment with the fish and tadpoles in the pond!). It has become a real 'home away from home' for her, where she feels relaxed, safe and well cared for.

I think you have treated my mother with great respect and dignity which must be very challenging as now her mind is not what it was. She seems to be well stimulated by the activities afforded her and you show great affection for her for which I am most grateful. Keep up the good and caring work.

We expect care homes to look after residents with dignity, respect and kindness - though not all do - and the Old Vicarage scores full marks for the attention it has given to my mother. But the staff here offer more than respect and high professional standards: they treat their residents with genuine affection. I'm am impressed, comforted and relieved. They have also done a great job in keeping the home COVID-free, which can't have been easy - the restrictions have been trying, but entirely proportionate to the risks. Highly recommended.

My mother recently entered The Old Vicarage Care Home a bit nervous to start with, but she and us were won over by the care and kindness of the staff. We had done our research and knew this home had a high rating, but you never really know until you have seen the staff in action. They have been magnificent. Mum is happy and so are we. Thanks to all the staff.

Amazing care home! Could not fault the care. I used this home for a lady I look after while I went on holiday. The process was quick and easy. COVID tests were on point. The manager was amazing and so was the deputy. I picked up 2 weeks later and my lady was clean and tidy, smelt lovely and I had all her belongings. 2 carers helped her out of the home and they were compassionate and patient with her. The communication was second to none I was informed of everything. I would highly recommend this home and will definitely use again. 5 stars.

My mother aged 99 was very happy with the care, especially at first. As the months went on; she began to feel a bit "marooned" as she chose to stay in her room due to being at risk of falls and incontinence. The last week of her life, the care was excellent. The love and dignity which I witnessed at first-hand was awesome. The staff were always welcoming and ready to communicate with me. They let me know in good time when Mum fell seriously ill.

As I live abroad, I needed a home that could give me the peace of mind knowing that my mother was in the very best care. My mother was a resident at The Old Vicarage from August 1st 2019 until her death this January. The level of care was exemplary and the compassion, commitment, sensitivity and respect of all staff members was outstanding. Whenever I visited I felt uplifted by the energy, creativity and team spirit of all personnel and residents. This was a house of joy and comfort! I couldn’t have asked for more and am eternally grateful for all generosity of spirit, professionalism and dedication of all involved.

I've worked in care for over 30 years. My training includes courses on independence, management and palliative care.

What I enjoy the most about my job is meeting new people who come to live with us and their families. It's all about making sure they feel part of our community, having a natter, and really listening to what they want and need. I make sure everyone gets a say in how things are run here, keep everyone in the loop about any changes, and always have a kettle on for visitors.
