Mum is happy in this home. The staff are very caring and sensitive to her needs, especially as her dementia has worsened in the last few weeks. The home is always clean and welcoming whenever I visit and she has a very pleasant room overlooking the garden.

Lovely big private clean room for my Nanny, which had a nice big window and was very warm. The staff were lovely and attentive and seemed to know and understand my Nan very well. We were well informed of her progress and they understood the future care plan for my Nan. Overall I would highly recommend
this care home as it has a small number of residents who are very well looked after and cared for by the very lovely staff and carers.

Abbey Rose has caring, supportive staff. Always greeted at the door with a smile of welcome and offer of refreshment. They all speak kindly to residents and treat them with dignity. My family and friends have been made to feel able to visit; at any time. The Abbey Rose smells nice, looks nice and is
a peaceful haven. We, as a family, feel fortunate that our loved one is cared for there.

I was at breaking point trying to find a home for my mum’s complex needs: Abbey Rose is perfect. The care team treat her with understanding and respect. The Manager made it clear that it’s my mum’s home and we are always welcome, in fact, my father eats lunch with my mum when we take him to visit and
he will live there when the time is right. The home’s owner went out of his way to introduce himself and told me he is always contactable. My mother looks cared for and happy. The residents are encouraged to interact and make friendships. If anyone is reading this unsure what to do regarding placing a loved one into a home I would say visit this home even if it’s not on the doorstep - it’s a little out the way for me but it’s worth it to know my mum is in the right home. The care staff were of great support as I did not cope well with mum’s dementia. Thankfully I am accepting things slowly and getting on with my life as I know my mum has quality in her life at Abbey Rose.

From our first unannounced visit to Abbey Rose for my mother, we were made welcome by the Manager and Care Managers. Clients looked happy and staff were immediately on hand to assist clients. Respect and dignity is a priority. Abbey Rose has a warm, family feel and is not pretentious. The small size
of the care home helps. Individual rooms are very clean and comfortable and have a homely feel about them. The sitting and dining areas are well laid out, comfortable and easily accessible to clients. Meals are excellent and individual dietary needs met. Weekly entertainment is varied and stimulating and clients are encouraged to share the experiences. Staff and local volunteers participate and family/friends are invited too. I feel very lucky to have found such a special place for my mother. Knowing mum is cared for and safe is a huge relief.

On my first visit to Abbey Rose, I was made very welcome. Every detail of how the home is run was explained to me. The family and I made arrangements for my friend to move in. She had a lovely room with en-suite. There were good entertainment and musical days in a very nice lounge. The food was very
nice and all cooked in a spotless large kitchen. On my visits which was most days, on my arrival, always a cup of tea. Residents and visitors were looked after in a very special way.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.208)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.208) out of 10 for Abbey Rose is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.2 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Abbey Rose is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.208 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbey Rose is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.8 = 0.208
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
