This care home sets high standards and keeps to them. The options I selected support the statement above.

Such a lovely home with very caring staff. The home is spotlessly clean, and the rooms are well decorated with modern furniture. Mum enjoys the activities, and it's been comforting to knot that there have continued during the lockdown.

My father's life changed very quickly losing his independence after an increase in physical health problems and a broken hip within just a couple of months. My brother and I were fortunate in finding the manager and her team at Dalvey House. Dad aged 94 moved to Dalvey some 10 months ago relocating from the town he had lived in for over 70 years. The manager and her friendly team have shown a superhuman level of patience and caring towards our dad to help him settle into his new life. Throughout Covid-19 they continue to show dedication and concern for him and keep me informed of how dad is doing. The team has implemented safe ways of helping me keep in touch with dad by offering the use of Whatsapp. Dad also has his own mobile and I speak with him 3 or 4 times a week so I do know he is happy. I would recommend Dalvey House if you are looking for a home that feels like a real home and not a hotel. The home is clean, in good condition and well kept, has a beautiful garden within reach of the beach. What's not to like.

The staff at Dalvey House are so caring. My mother is always stretching her hand to the staff so that she can be comforted and given a little hug. There are also some activities each week and my mother particularly loves the music and singing. Food is pretty good too. The residence is clean and warm - security is good. Nobody likes visiting loved ones in care homes but Dalvey House is among the better ones.

Overall Experience

This is a smaller home, around 26 residents; the staff are caring, friendly and treat residents with dignity and are always pleasant. It is nice to see that most of the residents are up and dressed, spend most of their time together in the lounge area/conservatory and have meals together. But more variety in meals is needed. There is also a nice garden where residents can sit out in but umbrellas are needed on the patio. They do have activities which is nice, but feel more should be provided as not frequent enough. They did have a Xmas party/raffle for residents/families which all enjoyed. Shower/bath rotas need to be looked at and a better system put in place, as residents can be missed one week, which leads into two weeks with no record of being asked, so needs better monitoring. Sometimes staff are busy and residents have to ask several times throughout the day before being taken to the toilet, so would like to see improvement. Overall the home is clean, bright with welcoming staff and I feel residents are safe and cared for. I would recommend this home.

I was disappointed that the TV was not working, due to a faulty TV controller, before my arrival and the whole time I was there. I did enjoy my stay.

My mother was moved from one care home to Dalvey House and she immediately felt so much happier. The care and attention she receives is great. She feels safe and secure and comments daily on her comfortable bed. She enjoys the regular activities and music and is happy sat in the lovely lounge overlooking the garden. The staff are attentive and caring and pay attention to the small details overseen by the excellent manager.

We cannot praise the care at Dalvey House highly enough. From the assessment day to the present day, the home had provided my mother with the complete package of care she needs, with the utmost dignity. The house is always clean and homely and the management and carers alike are friendly, efficient and welcoming.

We would not hesitate to recommend Dalvey House.

Overall Experience

I cannot think of anything to better Dalvey House. It is exceptional in all aspects. From the attentive, warm, compassionate, gentle and kind staff to the delicious, well prepared and presented meals. The entertainment is a big plus for the residents as is the garden. It is always kept so beautifully and a joy to sit there. My mother in law loved watching the birds come to the feeder as well as the squirrels. I must also say the staff was very kind to us, always asking if we needed anything and surprising us with tea or coffee and treats. Way to go Dalvey House!! You are the best.
