My father has reside at Burnworthy House for 18 months. I cannot speak highly enough of the care that Dad receives.
Dad wants for nothing and from my own observations the staff are superb in their interaction, not only with Dad but also other residents.
Knowing that Dad is happy has taken a huge weight
off of our shoulders.

Burnworthy House is a brilliant, well-managed facility. They cared for my mother for 3 years until she passed away in February 2025. My dad has been at Burnworthy for just over 6 months suffering from very limited physical capabilities as well as Alzheimer's. Our mother had done had a great job caring for him at home for as long as she possibly could. We all naturally worry about what a care home experience might be like for our
loved ones, but we as a family have frankly been overjoyed by how incredibly caring the management and staff have been. We even asked them to look after our mother for a limited respite period. They treat us as family and I would have no hesitation recommending Burnworthy.
Reply from Burnworthy House, Somerset Care at Burnworthy Housethank you for your lovely feedback for Burnworthy House. My mother-in-law has now been living in Burnworthy House for nearly two and a half years. She has been cared for very well, particularly after her fall in July 2023 which resulted in a broken hip and subsequent loss of mobility.

The Burnworthy House team were very attentive and engaged with my family member who was in the last weeks of life. The "welcome home" reception upon return from hospital was clearly uplifting for my aunt and made her last weeks comfortable and peaceful.
My aunt died at Burnworthy after more than seven
years of careful, engaging attention and care from the team. In particular, Burnworthy's help and efficiency in the days before and after my aunt's death were very highly valued and appreciated.

Burnworthy recently hosted a wonderful day for my mother's 100th Birthday - there were owls (!), balloons, cake, a card from the King and Queen. A staff member had made contact with some of Mum's old pupils and it was wonderful to see some of them there.
Very many thanks to all concerned.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.736)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.736) out of 10 for Burnworthy House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.886 for Burnworthy House is calculated as follows: ( (151 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 167 Ratings = 4.886
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Burnworthy House is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Alison, and I am proud to be the manager of Burnworthy House.

My passion for care services started from an early age, as I was introduced to this career path by my late mother who worked in a residential care home all her working life and installed the benchmark I aim to work to – “would I accept this for my family?”.

I started my own career path in care in 1996 as a domiciliary care worker, and for the last 26 years I have worked various roles covering the many different aspect of care. These have included being a care coordinator, trainer, risk assessor, quality supervisor, deputy, and interim manager.

I hold an NVQ level 3 in health and social care, NVQ Level 5 in leadership for health and social care and several other qualifications including a trainer the trainer in moving and handling.

When not working I enjoy reading, going to aqua aerobics, spending time with my family including my dog (Max) and eating cake.

I look forward to meeting you and working together to make new moments and memories with you and your loved ones.
