We have been very fortunate that our mother came to stay in Burnworthy House some five years ago. She has been well looked after and despite becoming increasingly frail, she has been happy.
Staff have all always been very friendly and helpful and this year they made a real effort to make a milestone
birthday a very special and memorable event.

I visited to join the celebrations for my aunt's 100th birthday. Everyone was so welcoming and seeing all the residents gathered together and enjoying themselves. The care and attention given to all residents was subtle but full of kindness and respect. Well done!

Burnworthy recently hosted a wonderful day for my mother's 100th Birthday - there were owls (!), balloons, cake, a card from the King and Queen. A staff member had made contact with some of Mum's old pupils and it was wonderful to see some of them there.
Very many thanks to all concerned.

What a relief to walk into a nursing home with happy and friendly staff, clean and happy residents, lots of laughs. Spotless condition, smelt lovely and lots for the residents to participate in. This home must be a paradise for some of those lucky residents.

This is my first experience of needing a placement in a residential care home. The staff could not have made a better impression! So warm and welcoming. Every effort has been made to make Mum feel at home and relaxed. Each time we visit, we are welcomed like family members. So lucky to have found Burnworthy!

Friendly staff, who make time to speak with me when I visit to explain how my relative's care is going. They also show me examples of the activities they undertake with my relative and I feel this enhances my relatives' life under their care, greatly. In summary, a very well-managed home with a professional,
caring team.

Burnworthy has been home for my mother-in-law for 2.5 years. Always a pleasure to visit my mother-in-law and the home staff and management are always caring, kind, polite and professional - but with intuitive know-how and a real understanding of my mother-in-law's needs. Thank you.

My grandmother has only been here a short while, but we can see an improvement in her mood and care already. We were shown her room and any questions we had were answered by the lovely staff. Moving was easy and the staff made her feel safe and cared for, as she's very anxious from dementia. There's
plentiful activities every day, which my grandma loves and the staff print the schedule for every resident's room. Food is never complained about and the staff are always working hard. In fact, they are always around and sometimes you don't even have to ask for something! They're so friendly, helpful and wanting to help. Visiting is simple. Safety and happiness come first and the rooms are perfect.

Before my lady moved into this home I supported her twice weekly in her own home, since moving in 2 years ago I have taken her out for coffee and cake regularly. Can honestly say the staff have made me feel welcome, informed me of new covid policies and kept me well informed on the health and mindset
of my lady. She always appears as she did at home and the home presents as well kept, homely and the food appealing and varied. This experience has changed my preconceived ideas of how well she would have “fitted in” she has made it her home and that’s been down to the care, support and kindness of the whole team. Just a huge thank you for all the hard work which I know my lady will have needed and you have all wonderfully given.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.882)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.882) out of 10 for Burnworthy House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.882 for Burnworthy House is calculated as follows: ( (213 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 238 Ratings = 4.882
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Burnworthy House is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Alison Tiltman

Job Title: Registered Manager

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Alison, and I am proud to be the manager of Burnworthy House.

My passion for care services started from an early age, as I was introduced to this career path by my late mother who worked in a residential care home all her working life and installed the benchmark I aim to work to – “would I accept this for my family?”.

I started my own career path in care in 1996 as a domiciliary care worker, and for the last 26 years I have worked various roles covering the many different aspect of care. These have included being a care coordinator, trainer, risk assessor, quality supervisor, deputy, and interim manager.

I hold an NVQ level 3 in health and social care, NVQ Level 5 in leadership for health and social care and several other qualifications including a trainer the trainer in moving and handling.

When not working I enjoy reading, going to aqua aerobics, spending time with my family including my dog (Max) and eating cake.

I look forward to meeting you and working together to make new moments and memories with you and your loved ones.
