I was anxious as I was going away on holiday and my mother suggested respite during this time. My mother had never been into residential care and I must admit she was apprehensive but trying not to show it. Before this, the manager and deputy came and did a pre-assessment to ensure they could provide
the care my mother needed - they were both absolutely lovely putting my mother at ease. We were invited in for lunch so we could see what it was like - looked at a couple of rooms and my mother was able to choose which one she would like to stay in. On the day of arrival, my goodness the room was beautiful, so clean and welcoming. We cannot praise them enough - they were fantastic, so caring and my mum became very fond of all of them - they were constantly checking on her and asking if everything was alright. The food was lovely with plenty of choice - and my mum's words; "What else could I need, beautiful home, lovely caring staff and so much gorgeous food to eat"!!

Myh elderly sister in law received residential care at Wyndham House from September 2016 until her date of death on 9th March 2017. The care home is very well run and the staff are very helpful and considerate. Most of all they treat the "patients" with the dignity they all deserve.

My wife went into Wyndham House, Minehead in June 2016 after I looked after her for 12 years.
The first couple of months were difficult as she thought she was coming home after a few weeks, but once she got over that and I had stayed to try the meals etc she settled in and she and I know how well she
is looked after in general and with the food they provide she is always saying how good it is.
I cannot fault all the staff from the cleaning ladies, chefs, carers and the management - all are so kind and helpful, they should be seen on television as we see enough of the so-called bad.

I have found Wyndham House pleasant, friendly, has a nice atmosphere and helpful staff. My mum is still settling in and I hope in the future she will take advantage of some activities supplied by the home. She has been encouraged to join the residents at lunchtime and this is good to exercise her legs
and be a little bit more social than she was at home. I am also glad that she is safe at night, as she didn't like nights alone at her flat and I was worried that another fall might happen. Now someone is on the end of an alarm at night, so I have peace of mind.

Wonderful team led by the manager. Every single member of staff are caring and conscientious. They cared for mum for three years. When she had a stroke/diagnosed with cancer in November 2015 they said they would care for her as she was like family. I cannot thank them enough. They also provided much
needed support to me. You should be proud of them all. many of them attended my mum's funeral, she would have been so glad.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.709)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.709) out of 10 for Wyndham House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.809 for Wyndham House is calculated as follows: ( (158 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 188 Ratings = 4.809
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wyndham House is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
