Laverstock Care Centre is located in the heart of the magnificent cathedral city of Salisbury and provides residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 80 elderly residents, including trial stays, short stays, convalescent care and long-term care for individuals or couples. In providing three distinct types of care under one roof, Laverstock Care Centre is ideally positioned to deliver a true care pathway. As a resident's care needs change, Laverstock is equipped to meet those needs, ensuring that residents are able to remain within the community they have become an integral part of.

The home is spacious, light, airy and modern with a friendly and dedicated staff team and offers a diverse and varied activities programme with a dedicated Wellbeing Coordinator on-site at the home. As with all aspects of the home, the likes, dislikes and opinions of residents are taken into consideration when planning events and activities. Residents' hobbies and interests are encouraged and can continue once they come to live at Laverstock.

My dad moved to Laverstock Care Center just over a month ago. The staff have been so kind and caring. They have taken huge efforts to get to know him and us. We go at any time, and they are always very welcoming. The nurses are really on top of his medical need and keep us updated as to any changes
in medication or his condition. There are lots of activities to participate in, and the carers also have a lot of chats with him, which is so lovely.

99% of the time the staff are very helpful and my stepmother seems mostly to be content. The personal care she receives seems to be good for the most part. The staff seem to have coped very well with the recent restrictions and are always very friendly. Thank you very much for all you do.

Mum has only recently arrived at Laverstock but the staff have been amazing from her original welcome, regular contact from them with me to helping her with daily tasks and the little emergencies. The whole time enabling her as much independence as she can muster and maintaining her dignity at all times!
Very, very happy she has a permanent place with them as it allows me peace and guilt-free days knowing she is safe and medically very well looked after.

My mother has been a resident at Laverstock Care Centre for 17 months now. She has dementia. The last 2 visits have been fantastic as I have been able to see Mum in her own room and with other residents. Extremely happy, well entertained and loved. Fantastic manager and caring, loving staff. What a

My father-in-law arrived at the Laverstock Care Centre in December 2020.
The customer care manager made both my wife and I feel very welcome from the outset. This was very important to us since with understandable Covid restrictions in place, we were sensibly unable to go inside the home.
Through
the use of WhatsApp video, we have since virtually met a number of the nursing staff, who without exception, have all been very friendly and caring. It is apparent that my father-in-law appears comfortable and cared for at all times and is reassured to be looked after by the Laverstock team.
Nothing has been too much trouble for the staff, with particular care being taken of the small things, which are of comfort to the family looking on, such as finding frames for photos, when the family are unable to enter the home to do so themselves.
So in all, we are delighted with the welcome and care provided at Laverstock and are looking forward to the day when we can meet everyone without facemasks!

Since our Auntie moved into Laverstock she has been cared for extremely well, she recently had a stay in hospital but on her return, she was made to feel at home again. All of her nurses and carers are fantastic with her and she really feels at home. I can’t recommend Laverstock enough. We as a family
are happy in the knowledge she is well cared for and we do not have to worry about her any more.

Grandad has been at Laverstock for about six months, and every time I visit, I'm really impressed. He is always clean and well presented, as is his room and all of the communal areas. There are 80 rooms, yet any staff we meet can direct us to his just from his name. Everyone knows Grandad well; the
gentleman who brought his lunch today said: "I know you won't be too interested in the main so I'll bring an extra big pudding!". He was right, and it's a lovely touch and really helps to make sure he gets enough nutrition.
If it's a short visit, staff won't interrupt us for his cares; if they need to they do everything efficiently without sacrificing standards.
The activity program is excellent and varied. Longue and dining areas are like being in a nice hotel, and touches like realistic toy cats to brush are lovely for some. Some residents on his floor have challenging behaviours, which are managed really well to minimise disruption to neighbours while maintaining dignity. Top-notch care.

My father in law is a current resident and has been for the past year, so my review relates to the last 12 months.
Parkinson's is a very challenging and demanding condition and we have always found that Dad is comfortable, supported and kept safe. The management and staff are to be congratulated because
Dad's care needs are both medical and non medical, and as the condition has progressed, they have met Dad's changing needs while maintaining his dignity and respecting his right to decide things. The centre itself is clean, Dad's room has lovely views and is bright and spacious. We are due to see Dad over Christmas at the Centre. Dad will no doubt tell us he wants to come home, but this is not any criticism of the Centre because he always says he cannot fault the care he is receiving, and there is always a compliment about the food, it's his condition he doesn't want. So to all the staff at the centre, we wish you all the very best for the season and every success for 2020.

My mother moved in two weeks ago. She was extremely anxious but now, 2 weeks on, she is already very settled and seems very happy. Everyone I have met has been very kind and caring. I am really happy and know my mother will be safe and well cared for.

I care for the finances and general needs of my cousin who has been resident for the past 2+years. He tells me that the food is appalling (consistently not getting what he has asked for the previous day). The standard is sometimes inedible. I have had occasion to complain about the general cleanliness
of his room, i.e. dirty carpets, an old, dirty chair (these things were immediately rectified by the newly assigned manager). He has been shouted at by a member of staff "stop ringing the bell'. The receptionist needs training in how to welcome visitors!

My father has been at Laverstock for 4 years and I want to congratulate his carers over that time.
His regular carers have been so kind and patient and now he has moved to another wing I would like to think his carers will also be with him.
It is key he has consistent carers he recognises.
Hopefully,
management will work closely with staff to raise morale and enable them to carry on their valuable care.

My father moved into Laverstock in March 2017 and has Alzheimer's, vascular dementia, and some challenging behaviours. The nurses and carers and all staff have taken time to get to know him. He is safe there and they strike a good balance between giving choice about when to go to bed vs offering him
activities. They really care.


The activities team put so much thought into the residents' needs. Ranging from tea dances to Sunday hymns, to garden parties, fetes, carol services, baking, history talks, craft activities, a walk in the garden - carried out with dignity and respect. Plenty of lounges where you can go to have a change of scenery. The rooms are spacious, clean, and all en-suite.


I was saddened by the recent press article as it was not a true reflection of what we have experienced over the past 16 months at Laverstock.


Nowhere is perfect but I am confident that the Manager will improve things which do need improving e.g. staffing levels and retention.

My mother has been a resident since 2015. During that time I have seen her cared for with kindness, care and respect. Dementia is a very difficult condition to work with and I have seen patience and understanding given to her at all times she looks clean and healthy. The staff are friendly and caring
to talk to and are proactive in giving updates.
Most seem to enjoy this difficult work.
Support staff and managers have also been approachable and helpful and I am a healthcare professional myself.
