My aunt is not an easy person due to both anxiety and dementia. The nursing team care for her in a very professional, friendly and caring manner. This meets both her physical and mental needs. The care in the nursing home is excellent.

The home is bright, clean and friendly. The rooms are well-appointed and cleaned on a daily basis. The staff are very patient and efficient. The leisure areas are clean, comfortable and quite stimulating. Activities are available on a daily basis. The food is fantastic, well cooked, with good-sized
portions and a very good menu.

My dad moved to Laverstock Care Center just over a month ago. The staff have been so kind and caring. They have taken huge efforts to get to know him and us. We go at any time, and they are always very welcoming. The nurses are really on top of his medical need and keep us updated as to any changes
in medication or his condition. There are lots of activities to participate in, and the carers also have a lot of chats with him, which is so lovely.
Reply from Home Manager, Home Manager at Laverstock Care CentreThank you, Lisa, for taking the time to leave us a review, and we are pleased to hear your dad is settling into the home. The care and services we deliver as a team to our residents and families are extremely important to us. Your feedback has been passed on to the team, who will be delighted to read it.

99% of the time the staff are very helpful and my stepmother seems mostly to be content. The personal care she receives seems to be good for the most part. The staff seem to have coped very well with the recent restrictions and are always very friendly. Thank you very much for all you do.

Mum has only recently arrived at Laverstock but the staff have been amazing from her original welcome, regular contact from them with me to helping her with daily tasks and the little emergencies. The whole time enabling her as much independence as she can muster and maintaining her dignity at all times!
Very, very happy she has a permanent place with them as it allows me peace and guilt-free days knowing she is safe and medically very well looked after.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father-in-law arrived at the Laverstock Care Centre in December 2020.
The customer care manager made both my wife and I feel very welcome from the outset. This was very important to us since with understandable Covid restrictions in place, we were sensibly unable to go inside the home.
Through
the use of WhatsApp video, we have since virtually met a number of the nursing staff, who without exception, have all been very friendly and caring. It is apparent that my father-in-law appears comfortable and cared for at all times and is reassured to be looked after by the Laverstock team.
Nothing has been too much trouble for the staff, with particular care being taken of the small things, which are of comfort to the family looking on, such as finding frames for photos, when the family are unable to enter the home to do so themselves.
So in all, we are delighted with the welcome and care provided at Laverstock and are looking forward to the day when we can meet everyone without facemasks!

Since our Auntie moved into Laverstock she has been cared for extremely well, she recently had a stay in hospital but on her return, she was made to feel at home again. All of her nurses and carers are fantastic with her and she really feels at home. I can’t recommend Laverstock enough. We as a family
are happy in the knowledge she is well cared for and we do not have to worry about her any more.

Grandad has been at Laverstock for about six months, and every time I visit, I'm really impressed. He is always clean and well presented, as is his room and all of the communal areas. There are 80 rooms, yet any staff we meet can direct us to his just from his name. Everyone knows Grandad well; the
gentleman who brought his lunch today said: "I know you won't be too interested in the main so I'll bring an extra big pudding!". He was right, and it's a lovely touch and really helps to make sure he gets enough nutrition.
If it's a short visit, staff won't interrupt us for his cares; if they need to they do everything efficiently without sacrificing standards.
The activity program is excellent and varied. Longue and dining areas are like being in a nice hotel, and touches like realistic toy cats to brush are lovely for some. Some residents on his floor have challenging behaviours, which are managed really well to minimise disruption to neighbours while maintaining dignity. Top-notch care.

My father in law is a current resident and has been for the past year, so my review relates to the last 12 months.
Parkinson's is a very challenging and demanding condition and we have always found that Dad is comfortable, supported and kept safe. The management and staff are to be congratulated because
Dad's care needs are both medical and non medical, and as the condition has progressed, they have met Dad's changing needs while maintaining his dignity and respecting his right to decide things. The centre itself is clean, Dad's room has lovely views and is bright and spacious. We are due to see Dad over Christmas at the Centre. Dad will no doubt tell us he wants to come home, but this is not any criticism of the Centre because he always says he cannot fault the care he is receiving, and there is always a compliment about the food, it's his condition he doesn't want. So to all the staff at the centre, we wish you all the very best for the season and every success for 2020.

I care for the finances and general needs of my cousin who has been resident for the past 2+years. He tells me that the food is appalling (consistently not getting what he has asked for the previous day). The standard is sometimes inedible. I have had occasion to complain about the general cleanliness
of his room, i.e. dirty carpets, an old, dirty chair (these things were immediately rectified by the newly assigned manager). He has been shouted at by a member of staff "stop ringing the bell'. The receptionist needs training in how to welcome visitors!
Reply from Kay Wainwright, Home Manager at Laverstock Care CentreWe are sorry when anyone has cause to complain but pleased to hear that things were were immediately put right. Our chef at Laverstock Care Centre is in regular contact with our residents to try and ensure that all dietary needs and preferences are met. Our manager’s door is always open to relatives and residents to discuss any concerns they may have and, in this case, our manager is in regular contact with the relative.

My father has been at Laverstock for 4 years and I want to congratulate his carers over that time.
His regular carers have been so kind and patient and now he has moved to another wing I would like to think his carers will also be with him.
It is key he has consistent carers he recognises.
Hopefully,
management will work closely with staff to raise morale and enable them to carry on their valuable care.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My father moved into Laverstock in March 2017 and has Alzheimer's, vascular dementia, and some challenging behaviours. The nurses and carers and all staff have taken time to get to know him. He is safe there and they strike a good balance between giving choice about when to go to bed vs offering him
activities. They really care.

The activities team put so much thought into the residents' needs. Ranging from tea dances to Sunday hymns, to garden parties, fetes, carol services, baking, history talks, craft activities, a walk in the garden - carried out with dignity and respect. Plenty of lounges where you can go to have a change of scenery. The rooms are spacious, clean, and all en-suite.

I was saddened by the recent press article as it was not a true reflection of what we have experienced over the past 16 months at Laverstock.

Nowhere is perfect but I am confident that the Manager will improve things which do need improving e.g. staffing levels and retention.

Reply from Frazer Bell, Home Manager at Laverstock Care CentreThank you for your review of our home and we are delighted to hear that you and your father find our care team, activities, food and drink and many other aspects of life at Laverstock Care Centre to be excellent.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.313)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.313) out of 10 for Laverstock Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.763 for Laverstock Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (109 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 139 Ratings = 4.763
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.55 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Laverstock Care Centre is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16. 12 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.75
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
