Laverstock Care Centre

Since our Auntie moved into Laverstock she has been cared for extremely well, she recently had a stay in hospital but on her return, she was made to feel at home again. All of her nurses and carers are fantastic with her and she really feels at home. I can’t recommend Laverstock enough. We as a family are happy in the knowledge she is well cared for and we do not have to worry about her any more.

The activity program is excellent and varied. Longue and dining areas are like being in a nice hotel, and touches like realistic toy cats to brush are lovely for some. Some residents on his floor have challenging behaviours, which are managed really well to minimise disruption to neighbours while maintaining dignity. Top-notch care.

Parkinson's is a very challenging and demanding condition and we have always found that Dad is comfortable, supported and kept safe. The management and staff are to be congratulated because Dad's care needs are both medical and non medical, and as the condition has progressed, they have met Dad's changing needs while maintaining his dignity and respecting his right to decide things. The centre itself is clean, Dad's room has lovely views and is bright and spacious. We are due to see Dad over Christmas at the Centre. Dad will no doubt tell us he wants to come home, but this is not any criticism of the Centre because he always says he cannot fault the care he is receiving, and there is always a compliment about the food, it's his condition he doesn't want. So to all the staff at the centre, we wish you all the very best for the season and every success for 2020.

My mother moved in two weeks ago. She was extremely anxious but now, 2 weeks on, she is already very settled and seems very happy. Everyone I have met has been very kind and caring. I am really happy and know my mother will be safe and well cared for.

I care for the finances and general needs of my cousin who has been resident for the past 2+years. He tells me that the food is appalling (consistently not getting what he has asked for the previous day). The standard is sometimes inedible. I have had occasion to complain about the general cleanliness of his room, i.e. dirty carpets, an old, dirty chair (these things were immediately rectified by the newly assigned manager). He has been shouted at by a member of staff "stop ringing the bell'. The receptionist needs training in how to welcome visitors!

Hopefully, management will work closely with staff to raise morale and enable them to carry on their valuable care.

My father moved into Laverstock in March 2017 and has Alzheimer's, vascular dementia, and some challenging behaviours. The nurses and carers and all staff have taken time to get to know him. He is safe there and they strike a good balance between giving choice about when to go to bed vs offering him activities. They really care.

The activities team put so much thought into the residents' needs. Ranging from tea dances to Sunday hymns, to garden parties, fetes, carol services, baking, history talks, craft activities, a walk in the garden - carried out with dignity and respect. Plenty of lounges where you can go to have a change of scenery. The rooms are spacious, clean, and all en-suite.

I was saddened by the recent press article as it was not a true reflection of what we have experienced over the past 16 months at Laverstock.

Nowhere is perfect but I am confident that the Manager will improve things which do need improving e.g. staffing levels and retention.

Support staff and managers have also been approachable and helpful and I am a healthcare professional myself.

I spent one week in respite care and found the care and premises very clean and homely and felt well cared for.

Staff are most pleasant and most helpful. Activities are imaginative and enjoyable. Impressed with the garden area which has been planted with a mixed array of flowers and vegetables for the summer. The seating is generous and brightly coloured with canopies to provide shade.

As the main carer of my mum who has complex health and "emotional" needs the decision to move her from my family home to a care home was one of the hardest I've ever made. It also turned out to be one of the best! Laverstock Care Centre, especially "Garden View" is a home from home. The staff are superb and have quite honestly given our family our lives back including mum!

My husband has been resident in this care home (dementia unit) for the past eighteen months and I could not be happier with his placement. The level of care is exemplary (I visit on a daily basis) and any concerns which may arise are dealt with immediately by staff and management. I rest easy knowing that he is loved, well cared for and secure.

The main Reception area is very welcoming and very spacious with plenty of seating available. There is plenty of information at hand on the facilities which are available. The staff at Reception are very informative and extremely polite and welcoming. The rooms are extremely spacious as are the bathrooms with a walk-in shower. Beds are comfortable and furniture well positioned. Staff are there at all times for residents' needs. Meals are of a high standard with a good choice. Good activities. From the management right through, an excellent place to reside in.

The care and support we received from a carer who accompanied my wife and I for a 5 hour stint at hospital was excellent. She could not have been kinder and supportive for my wife who was out of her own environment.

When looking for a home for my mum, we wanted to have a nice size room with a view, nice and sunny, which we have found here, as my mum spends most of her time in bed.

The staff are all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. It's also not too far for my dad to get to, as he visits Mum every day and he gets looked after well with coffee and cake most days, so overall we are very happy.

After a fall at home followed by a spell in the hospital, it became clear that our mother could no longer live independently. This was the moment to find an alternative that provided the care and support Mum needed, whilst maintaining her quality of life. After looking at a number of options, we found Laverstock Care Centre. As a family, we were immediately struck by the care and professionalism of all the staff, the quality of the facilities and the happiness of the other residents. With no previous experience of the care sector, we were very anxious to ensure our mother moved into the best community we could find. We were immediately made to feel welcome and were sensitively guided through this significant transition. Mum took to her new surroundings immediately and is now thriving with the care and support she is receiving at Laverstock Care Centre. The quality of the meals, the range of activities and the ability to personalise her room have all helped to make our mother very happy and contented in her new home. She is enjoying her new lease on life! As a family, we are delighted we chose Laverstock Care Centre

I cannot thank all the care staff enough for their kindness and dedication.

The professional dedication shown by all services within Laverstock Care Centre is of the highest standard. The patient and partner are given equal measures of respect and support. The level of care, kindness and compassion are ongoing with any concerns or inquiries met with immediate response. In addition, communication between each of the services is excellent, all of which is communicated to the concerned relative. All services work as a team with many individuals displays their dedication. On a personal level, I have no hesitation in praising every member of staff for their professionalism and dedication under extremely difficult circumstances.

The administrator showed me around Laverstock care home last August when I needed to put my dad in for respite. I was so impressed with the way she explained everything, that when it was time for dad to become a full-time resident, there was no question of dad going to a different home. I see the administrator on a regular basis at the home as she is helpful, positive and nothing is any trouble for her.
