Perhaps a better outlook from the room would be uplifting. South facing with a bigger, lower window for residents who are unable to leave their room.
Thank you for your kind comments that you have provided regarding the professionalism of the staff on Darby your comments will be shared with the staff. This review reinforces that the hard work and commitment of the staff does make a difference. They will be very happy to have had your feedback.
My husband was in Netherton Green, Darby House for one week before he passed away but the care he received in that short time was excellent and my family's needs were also very good.
I will ensure that your comments will be shared with the staff team.
Mum has been extremely well cared for since she came here 6 weeks ago. Staff are kind and treat her with dignity, always. As a family, we are very satisfied.
Thank you for leaving us a review I will be more than happy to share this with my team.
Netherton Green is an excellent nursing home. The staff are all very caring, helpful and professional. All staff are hard-working and devoted to care and treat all residents as individuals. As visitors, we are always made very welcome. Thank you to all staff.
Have found that the staff provide an excellent service for my aunt. I have found that all the staff try to provide a one-to-one service with all the residents. The staff also help the residents on visits to various places. My aunt has settled well and is very content.
I will be happy to share your review with the team.
Staff are always polite and very caring to the residents. Very often they work under very trying conditions but still manage to treat the residents with respect.
Thank you for taking the time to review the care your family member has received from staff at Netherton Green I will be more than happy to share your review with the team.
We will always be extremely grateful for the way the staff of Netherton Green cared for our Aunt, in the final days of her life. She was treated with respect and dignity and love. Thanks to the team at Netherton's Windmill House unit, she was able to have a conversation with her sister in Canada, via a video mobile call, facilitated by one of the carers, on the afternoon she passed away. They couldn't have been more accommodating. Thank you very much.
We were only too happy to be able to support your Aunt and support her in any way she needed within her final days with us. I will happily pass on your review to our team for you.
Mom was brought in to Netherton Green from the hospital for stepdown after a nasty fall. Mom is normally very active, so to be told she would spend a few weeks in a nursing home was a shock to her, but staff soon reassured her and spoke to help her adjust to life in there. All the staff are very friendly, helpful and kind.
It's lovely to hear how soon your mother felt reassured and settled into her stay with us. Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts of our staff, we will gladly pass on your review to our team.
My father was in Netherton Green having been diagnosed with Vascular Dementia at a time when we could no longer cope at home. From the offset, Dad had a room overlooking the garden which he loved. All staff befriended and encouraged him with all tasks. The care and compassion was second to none. Most of all, he was treated like the lovely human he was, not a number.
We are so glad to hear that you felt your father was so well supported by the team and will happily pass on our kind words to them.
My dad went in for palliative care. His needs were very demanding but the staff were excellent and showed him dignity and respect in his last days. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they even looked after us with tea and biscuits. Both the day and night staff were very professional.
It is so lovely to hear you and your family felt as supported as your father during his stay with us. I will happily pass on your review to our team.
My mom was moved to Netherton Green from her home where she had carers attend to her four times a day very sporadic and not suitable for her care needs. For the four months she spent here, my mom was comfortable and happy, she ate and drank regularly and enjoyed the interaction with the staff. We always found the staff to be friendly, approachable and supportive. Knowing that my mom was safe and being well looked after was a great comfort.
It's great to hear that you were comforted knowing that your mother was with us and being so well supported. We will happy pass on your review to our team.
Absolutely fantastic care and compassion shown to my dad and us as a family. Every member of staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. My dad was allowed the dignity and peacefulness he deserved in his final days. I would definitely recommend to other palliative care patients. Well done, much love to you all.
We are only too happy that we were able to support your father in his final days. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, I will gladly pass on your views with our team.
The staff are wonderful and very professional. The nurses were calm, reassuring and an enormous help. The corridors are very echoey so voices and trolley noise was disturbing on occasions. The door is very noisy, particularly at night.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, I will pass on your feedback to our team.
My nephew was treated with utmost care and attention and, in difficult moments, persuaded by senior staff to stay with them a little longer for his own well-being (for the first 48 hours or so, he just wanted to go home) and he soon became content. All members of the family were treated with care, assistance and good food, for which we were grateful at this very painful time. Thank you.
We are glad to hear that your whole family felt supported by our team. We will pass on your kind words to our team.
All the staff were so kind, compassionate and caring to my father, my mother and myself, making the inevitable ending easier to bear. A great team with dedicated staff who created a calming peaceful atmosphere and kept my dad comfortable to the end.
Thank you for your kind words, I will gladly pass this on to our team.
Thank you for the care and compassion shown by all staff members at Darby House. At all times, my father's dignity was respected and he received high-quality, individual palliative care, taking into account his wishes at all times. As a family, we trusted completely that even when at times we couldn't be present, Father's needs would always be met and he would be comfortable. We felt looked after as a family at a sad and difficult time.
We are only too happy that you and your family were so happy with the care and service delivered.
My father was a resident in Darby House, Netherton Green following a fall on the night of my mother's death. Dad and all the family were treated with dignity and respect. All assistance was given to all of us on the day of my mum's funeral and all care given to my father until his death on 16/09/19. Every member of staff showed sympathy, compassion and caring to all of us at this difficult time.
We are only too happy to have been able to support you and your family through such a difficult time. I will gladly pass on your review to our team.
I cannot fault Netherton Green. The staff are excellent, polite helpful and very pleasant. The food is excellent and very tasty. The rooms are very good with beds that are very comfortable and long enough for tall people.
We could not be happier to hear your view of our home, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I will gladly pass on your review to our team.
My mum-in-law received a very caring service. Staff were pleasant and there was a calm atmosphere. Well done. The grounds are beautiful.
It’s great to hear that you felt your mother-in-law received a caring service. We work very hard to ensure the quality of our service is visible from our caregiving right through to the grounds of our home and could not be happier to hear your views on these. I will pass on your feedback to our team.
My whole experience of Netherton Green so far is outstanding. From the first phone call to the liaison lady, to my unexpected visit, to speaking to the staff and being greeted by the Home Manager, I was made to feel welcome and at home. The room my dad is in is very spacious and looks onto the garden. I love how we can personalise his room and we have already made a recommendation to a friend. Keep up the high standard. Thank you.
We are so glad that you felt so supported from your first contact with us and throughout your experience. It’s great to hear how happy you are with the facilities and thank you for making a recommendation. I will happily pass on your words to our team.

Meet the Team (4)

I joined the team at Netherton Green in June 2001 as a Care Assistant, roughly 18 months later I was successful in promotion to Senior Care Assistant which was a role I had for 16 years. For the last 3 and a half years I have worked in the Activities and Wellbeing team and was again successful in promotion to Senior Activity and Wellbeing Coordinator at the beginning of 2022. Being in the Activities team allows me to get to know the Residents and their families in a different way, being able to help them engage with and enable Residents to continue to do the things that they enjoy, really is what I love about my job.

As a Registered Mental Health Nurse, I have gained extensive experience in providing care and support to elderly people, helping to enrich their lives. I am a knowledgeable and dedicated leader, passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and enhancing the quality of life for residents. I believe in offering kind and compassionate support while embracing a holistic approach to meet the individual needs of every resident.

My name is Karen Winmill, and I’ve been part of the Netherton Green family for 24 years. I first joined as a Carer before progressing to a Senior Carer role, and for the past nine years, I’ve proudly worked as the Activities and Wellbeing Coordinator.
I’ve always loved spending time with our residents — getting to know their stories, hobbies, and interests is what makes this role so special to me. I truly believe this job was made for me. I have a warm, bubbly personality and a great relationship with both residents and their families. I’m never afraid to make a fool of myself if it means making someone smile — our residents especially love seeing which costume I’ll be wearing next for our themed days!
I’m passionate about providing person-centred activities that bring joy, purpose, and fulfilment to every individual. From weekly Bingo sessions (which families love to join in with!) to one-to-one chats over a cuppa, shopping trips, pet therapy visits, intergenerational activities, and live entertainment — there’s always something going on to brighten everyone’s day.
Outside of work, I enjoy going on cruise holidays with my husband and spending quality time with my family. I also have a lifelong love of dance — I was a dance teacher for many years and even competed as a child — which certainly comes in handy for my role here at Netherton Green!

I have worked as an administrator for over 30 years, and I've worked as a domiciliary carer for years in the past. I joined Netherton Green in October 2025. It is a lovely home, it feels very homely, and everyone made me feel very welcome.
