My father was at the nursing home for about six weeks. In that time, the staff were really caring and helpful and went above and beyond what was expected from them. They looked after my father exceptionally. In his last few days, they were there for us as well as him and made the sad process much easier to bear.
Thank you for such kind words. We are so happy that we were able to support you all through this time. I will pass on your review to our team.
My mother-in-law was in Darby House, Netherton Green. The staff were professional, compassionate and kind, providing excellent care in the final weeks of her life. The unit is clean, inviting, friendly and well managed. I would happily recommend to family and friends.

Overnight at Darby House, my mother is late stage pancreatic. The care and especially taking time to listen was first class. The team were flexible to my mothers needs and did all in their capacity to meet them. A+

On behalf of my husband, who was in palliative care, I cannot thank the staff enough for looking after him with dignity at all times when he was unable to respond.

I was taken to Netherton Green Care Home on 25th December 2018 from hospital as I was not expected to live very long. If it was not for the care and attention given to me which was wonderful I would not be here today. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Now back home, able to walk again with aids and now feeling much better, all thanks to staff at Darby House.
Many thanks for taking the time to review our homes and I am delighted to be able to feed your lovely comments back to my team. We are really pleased with your opinion of the home and are glad you chose to share your experience.
They made my mother's stay a pleasure.
Thanks for all your help and support.

Very pleased with the cleanliness of the establishment and the staff from all levels of the business were friendly, polite and made time to talk to the residents and also visitors. Quite impressed with the day trips out and entertainment provided.

My husband was in Darby House for 5 days. The care, support - staff - nurses all made his last days comfortable and pain-free. I tried to care for my husband at home, but at 84 was unable to cope. I thank everyone at Darby House for getting me through this difficult time.
Many thanks for taking the time to write this review at what is obviously a very upsetting time for you. It is heartening to hear that you feel we made his last few days comfortable and I will pass your comments back to my team at Darby House. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your positive feedback
Mom only spent seven days here due to the final stages of a terminal illness. Even though she was only here for a short time, the care she received was absolutely brilliant. The staff are caring, courteous and professional. Their caring and sensitive natures are what has made a terribly difficult time much easier to deal with. Thank you so much to all the staff for looking after all of us so well.
Many thanks for taking the time to review the end of life care your mom received with us at what is always a really upsetting and difficult time for your family. I am pleased that we were able to make the situation a little easier. I will pass your kind comments back to my team.
The palliative care given to my brother was excellent. The staff are cheerful and show respect to both patients and visitors.
They always keep you in the loop with anything you need to know and hold relatives meetings where you can ask questions and give your opinions of how things are being done. It is a very well run home with friendly and caring staff.
Thank you for your positive feedback. Again it is always good to have reviews so that we can continually maintain our standards. I am happy that our staff have met your expectations of your father in law and yourself as a family member. I will ensure the staff are given your feedback, I am sure...
My brother was admitted to Netherton Green Nursing Home following a diagnosis of terminal cancer. All of the staff were excellent, they were very friendly, approachable, polite who did their job with diligence and good humour. The nurses were extremely professional and diligent in respect of the safety and security issues of the medications. The carers were all very supportive and treated all of their charges with respect and worked hard to maintain the resident’s dignity. The support staff, particularly the cleaning and catering personnel, were cut from the same cloth in their day to day contact with residents and visitors. Overall, the staff are what makes this an excellent facility. Without exception, all of the staff who had any dealing with my brother or any of his visitors are lovely people doing an extraordinary job. I have no reservations in recommending this care home to anyone and would be very happy to be cared for should I ever need palliative care.
Thank you again.
The unit was well organised and everything clean and tidy. The staff were incredibly friendly, caring and compassionate - we couldn’t fault them.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
Staff at Darby House were very supportive and showed care and compassion to both my Mum and the family. I knew whilst I was away at work Mum was receiving good care. I was kept informed about my Mum's care and any health issues.
Thank you once again.
The building may need a bit of 'TLC' but the professional and caring staff could not be faulted. They listened to the needs of my brother in law and followed them exactly. They took the time to listen to our concerns and gave us all the information we needed.
From the cleaning staff to the care assistants to the nurses and administrators everyone was as professional and as kind and caring as they could possibly be. They laughed with us when times were good and when the end came for my brother in law, they cried with us.
On behalf of the family, I would like to give them a huge thank you, they made a terrible situation so much easier to bear.
Thank you for your feedback on the care delivered in Darby House at Netherton Green it is always nice to receive such positive feedback and all staff will be informed of your feedback. We aim to deliver the best possible care and attention to our residents we are glad you feel your brother was treated with professionalism dignity and respect. Thank you for leaving your feedback.
All the staff were willing and helpful and promoted my independence at all times.

Meet the Team (4)

I joined the team at Netherton Green in June 2001 as a Care Assistant, roughly 18 months later I was successful in promotion to Senior Care Assistant which was a role I had for 16 years. For the last 3 and a half years I have worked in the Activities and Wellbeing team and was again successful in promotion to Senior Activity and Wellbeing Coordinator at the beginning of 2022. Being in the Activities team allows me to get to know the Residents and their families in a different way, being able to help them engage with and enable Residents to continue to do the things that they enjoy, really is what I love about my job.

As a Registered Mental Health Nurse, I have gained extensive experience in providing care and support to elderly people, helping to enrich their lives. I am a knowledgeable and dedicated leader, passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and enhancing the quality of life for residents. I believe in offering kind and compassionate support while embracing a holistic approach to meet the individual needs of every resident.

My name is Karen Winmill, and I’ve been part of the Netherton Green family for 24 years. I first joined as a Carer before progressing to a Senior Carer role, and for the past nine years, I’ve proudly worked as the Activities and Wellbeing Coordinator.
I’ve always loved spending time with our residents — getting to know their stories, hobbies, and interests is what makes this role so special to me. I truly believe this job was made for me. I have a warm, bubbly personality and a great relationship with both residents and their families. I’m never afraid to make a fool of myself if it means making someone smile — our residents especially love seeing which costume I’ll be wearing next for our themed days!
I’m passionate about providing person-centred activities that bring joy, purpose, and fulfilment to every individual. From weekly Bingo sessions (which families love to join in with!) to one-to-one chats over a cuppa, shopping trips, pet therapy visits, intergenerational activities, and live entertainment — there’s always something going on to brighten everyone’s day.
Outside of work, I enjoy going on cruise holidays with my husband and spending quality time with my family. I also have a lifelong love of dance — I was a dance teacher for many years and even competed as a child — which certainly comes in handy for my role here at Netherton Green!

I have worked as an administrator for over 30 years, and I've worked as a domiciliary carer for years in the past. I joined Netherton Green in October 2025. It is a lovely home, it feels very homely, and everyone made me feel very welcome.
