Nestled in the popular outskirts of Cradley Heath in the West Midlands, Roxburgh House Care Home offers personalised residential and residential dementia care to older people.

Community is a fundamental part of life at Roxburgh House. The team understand how important it is to maintain relationships with the wider community and so they regularly organise opportunities for residents to get involved, including events with local schools, charities and businesses in the area.

I have been a regular visitor to care homes over the last 40 years and find Roxburgh among the best I have visited. An extremely caring staff who totally engage with the residents, a menu that would grace any high-quality hotel. Excellent security decor and an atmosphere of ambience that encourages
contentment.

Roxburgh is a very friendly home with staff offering excellent care. I never worry about leaving my mother as I know she is well cared for and that they appreciate and respect her needs. The food is also excellent.

Mom has now been in Roxburgh House for six months and during this time she has settled in very well. The food is excellent and mom has put on weight. The home is always warm and welcoming as are the staff who do an excellent job caring for the residents.

My mother’s mobility had got to a stage where she could not continue to live at her sheltered accommodation as the staff were unable to meet her needs.

We then had the task of finding a suitable care home.

We viewed Roxburgh House Care Home mainly for its location, near her sister and the first

impressions were very good.

My mother has now been a resident for around 6 weeks and we could not be any happier, all the staff go the extra mile to help and accommodate our requests.

My mother is eating well and but 3 pounds on, she’s been on a trip to the safari park. She likes all the staff, she is very happy there and would not want to go back to her flat.

To start with mom didn't settle very well but with the kind care of the staff and with their friendliness she eventually settled. Also, she sits between other lovely residents who couldn't have made her day more welcome, also last but by no means least, the chef is a fantastic cook.

This was our first visit to Roxburgh House. The first thing we noticed was that the car parking was provided for free. The staff were informed that we had travelled 200 miles to visit a relative. We were listened to and provided with a room in which to talk privately to the resident. Knowing that we
were tired from our journey the staff then provided tea and cake for refreshment. Well done and thank you.

My mother-in-law was very well looked after right up to her death on the 6th April, she was very happy at the care home. Both myself and my wife were very happy with the level of care whilst she was at the home and we can't thank all of the staff enough for the care they provided right up until the
end. Their support when she passed away special thanks to the manager.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.522)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.522) out of 10 for Roxburgh House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.813 for Roxburgh House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.813
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.709 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Roxburgh House Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.8 = 0.909
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
