I am so pleased to have found Beechwood Residential Care Home for my mum who has sense memory loss and poor vision amongst other ailments. She initially went for a respite stay but has now decided to become a permanent resident. Every member of staff that I have met and I cannot praise them enough. The home itself is light, bright, airy and very clean. The meals are lovely full marks to the brilliant catering staff. Mum's room is not overly big but is clean and tidy and overlooks the garden. The only downside is that the rooms do not have en-suite toilets.

My mother has been a resident for 18 months and has dementia which has been a bit challenging at times. The dedication of staff and management has been excellent.
Loving care is at the heart of Beechwood.

It isn't posh and rooms are not ensuite but it is the care and respect that matters.

Mum has severe dementia with other problems and was cared for within the family up to late April 2019. Mum's needs are complex and she has had 1to1 attention. The manager at the home reassured us they could cope with mum and would look after her well.
I have now got to know most of the staff, who I find to be very caring and helpful. It has been difficult initially for mum to cope but the home is getting used to her and we have had frequent contact to settle her.

The doctors' surgery for Beechwood provided excellent support and communication with us. They are very welcoming of guests and I feel comfortable visiting any time. The garden is safe and wonderful and a wildlife haven. I like to sit in the garden with her. The four small units are interlinked and residents can wander freely between. Had Sunday lunch in the Conservatory and food and catering staff are lovely. The tall chef is constantly walking between the Units to talk with staff or residents. Staff welcome you with a smile on their faces.

Small and very friendly home. All on the ground floor with easy access to the gardens for residents. The staff are very caring and do all they can to make Beechwood a happy place to live. The food is excellent, with residents getting a choice to meet their preferences.

We have been very happy with the care and dedication of the staff and carers at Beechwood in Upton upon Severn.

My mother has improved drastically since arriving at Beechwood. The carers are absolutely lovely and make her feel at home and totally loved. A big thank you to them all.

- Manager brilliant. As are senior staff.
- Agency staff? Not good enough.
- Care staff should work on the same unit to give continuity with residents.
- Rooms need to be improved. Bigger and ensuite.
- More encouragement required from carers to residents,
- Although activities are present, haven't actually seen any taking place.

- Should be two staff on each unit - not one.

Sadly my mother died on 1st July, but she lived at Beechwood for 2.5 years. During that time she was generously loved and cared for and fully accepted for who she was. We chose Beechwood not for its elegance or luxury (though it is very adequately comfortable), but for the quality of care. We were not disappointed. She was unable to take part in many of the activities but the programme was very good. Though there were a few management changes and a bit of staff turnover, the care still shone through.

My mother came here in August 2017 having spent 2 years in another home elsewhere.
The family has been more than satisfied from the very beginning, including preliminary visits.
The Alzheimer unit staff have such a good understanding of the care needs and their kindness and consideration is impressive.

The whole ethos of the home appears to be geared towards ensuring the residents are comfortable and content and all levels of staff join in to contribute to a caring and friendly atmosphere.

The home seems well-designed for residents. There are separate units arranged on ground level and linked. Residents live in homely groups, not too many people at once.

The option of a conservatory is good and a number of small sheltered gardens is very attractive and user-friendly. Staff work hard to support residents and assisting at functions such as summer fete.

I can't praise Beechwood highly enough. It's clean, cosy with a beautiful, airy conservatory that looks out over a long garden complete with raised beds and summer house. Staff are completely engaged with residents and treat all with respect and genuine empathy. Management is spot on. Food is excellent and relatives are encouraged to pop in and share Wednesday/Sunday lunch. My mum has been there 6 weeks and is very happy there.

Qualifications for making these views: Thirty years in Local Authority Services, with senior management experience of residential care for the mentally ill/handicapped and elderly persons. Tick boxes are a quick way to identify the good and bad areas but not the staff box.

My wife is a resident in Beechwood, my daughter is a very experienced nursing officer and they hold very similar views to mine. The managers of this house are to be congratulated on their recruitment of staff. Staff who are everything you hope for in people caring for your loved ones. My vocabulary will not allow me to describe my observations adequately in a way that will do justice to the grand people that now care for my wife, based on and built on the foundation of kindliness.

Overall, I am happy with the level of care that my mother receives. The 'floor' has very caring staff and do their jobs to the best of their ability but, sadly, they are often very understaffed at Beechwood Residential Care Home all year round. Staff are not given any incentive to stay by the management at Beechwood Residential Care Home. The manager, in my opinion, does not support the staff in any way.

Until recently I worked at Beechwood Residential Care Home myself (and remain friends with the residents who live there) and can wholeheartedly say what a lovely care home this is. The care staff are wonderful, genuinely kind, caring and understanding. I've found the home to be clean and full of laughter. The food is very good, always fresh and plenty of it. I'd absolutely recommend this home to my friends and family.

I am proud of the home and the team here, who are supportive and make Beechwood feel like a family.

The home is set out so residents are able to access our gardens and have social interaction and we work in collaboration with them so they have a purpose to their day. This supports everyone’s well-being.

Sanctuary Care gives everyone opportunities to be the very best they can be.
