I am a regular visitor to the home the care is excellent and there is nothing too much trouble for the staff. There are activities 7 days per week. The home is presented to a high standard with no smells. The hospitality is second to none. The residents are loved it is like one happy family.

My father is at Ashfields Care Home. He is treated very well. The rooms are bright and clean. The staff and management are very kind and helpful. The care home has two nurses on duty each day, plus several care workers and cleaners. I would recommend this care home. The standard is excellent.

My mother came to Ashfields Care Home for end of life care. She was treated with dignity, kindness and great care by all the staff, nurses, carers, cleaners and management alike.

The activities were suitable for the residents and many involved visitors which were good fun as the period covered Christmas and New Year.

The support and care staff provide is excellent.
The short time my dad was there made his last few days while on palliative care very comfortable in lovely surroundings.

Therefore many thanks to the staff who looked after our father.

I would like to thank all staff involved in the care of my mother during her final months of life. I would especially like to thank everyone for the care she received during the last week of life. We were both looked after by all concerned. I was made to feel not just welcome but like family at this very difficult time.

My mum was not just cared for she was cared about and loved by the staff. We could not have received better care anywhere else. From housekeeping staff, kitchen staff, carers, nurses and management, nothing was too much trouble. This really is an incredible home, full of love and care for everyone who needs it.

Overall Experience

Mum entered Ashfields Care Home in July 2015 and although she has to be fed and is hoisted out of bed for only one hour per day for dinner, the very professional care staff understand mums needs and keep her comfortable and contented. She qualifies for 24-hour nursing care and the resident nurses are thoroughly professional. In the 2 1/2 years, of residents, virtually bed bound, she has never had a bed sore testimony again to the care administered. There are daily activities and entertainment for those who unlike mum can participate. A tablet electronic flagging system for 24-hour routine care, and new nurse call system, are excellent. You never encounter an unpleasant odour which is testimony to the cleaning staff. The food is excellent, the management and staff are always willing to answer any queries we may have and there are regular resident and relative meetings which are held by the home manager who informs on any developments either presently or due in the future.

My Dad was cared for at Ashfields in the last 6 months of his life. We were reluctant and fearful of placing him in a care home, but Ashfields surpassed our expectations. This is a clean, well equipped, pleasantly furnished, characterful home, but its main strength is the wonderful staff. They really have hearts of gold, and treated my Dad as an individual, even though over time it became difficult for him to communicate with them. They also took care of my mum, who visited daily, and found it increasingly distressing to witness my father's decline. The activity co-ordinators put on lovely events and work so hard to make it feel like a real community- the elderly residents are kept clean and comfortable and seem at home there. I would not hesitate to recommend Ashfields.

All staff are very friendly and caring. Nothing is too much trouble, they will talk with you when they have time. During the short time I was there, great care was taken of my well-being, all staff were ready to help if asked.

I had great care taken over my meals. I live on my own but have family who help me. If I ever required care, I would try my very best to get into Ashfields Care Home Heanor. I think it is a great place and all the staff are brilliant.

On arrival with my mother, it seemed that everyone knew her name. Many of the staff knew my name! During what turned out to be mum's final few weeks, all the staff were professional and cared for her well, in a timely manner. Several of the staff were exemplary. My queries were dealt with much more promptly than I expected. I noticed an eye for detail extended throughout the home. Mum was never going to be entirely happy in a care home environment but I don't believe her experience could have been significantly bettered.

We are very grateful to all at Ashfields for caring for our mother during the last 3 years of her life.

The care at Ashfields was loving and warm, with an outstanding level of professional skill, particularly in her final days. I do believe that she could not have had better care. Initially, she was very disappointed to lose her independence and her early months in care were not easy. It is a great tribute to all at Ashfields that she settled in so well to spend her final years in peace and comfort.

My mum was a resident at Ashfields Care Home for the last 7 months of her life. Her care was excellent, always being reviewed and updated to her changing needs. The home uses electronic notes, each member of staff has a hand held device to update as they administer care. This is an amazing tool which can show instantly what the resident has eaten, drank etc. I feel Ashfields Care Home is professional in all aspects of care and management of residents and their families.

Everyone looks after my wife as if it was their own family. They made the room like it was home. They asked every visitor if they would like a drink or anything else. The care was first class and made certain my wife was comfortable and had everything she asked for. The staff did not moan about anything they were asked to do. An excellent nursing home.

My experience of Ashfields Care Home has been very good and myself and friends together with family members have nothing but praise for the dedicated staff. Ashfields is very welcoming and has a homely atmosphere. The rooms are cleaned are decorated to a high standard. The courtyard gardens and main entrance gardens are maintained at this time of the year are full of colour and have plenty of secluded seating area. Plenty of activities are run throughout the week attended by residents on a voluntary basis.

Ashfields is a little community into which dad settled very well.

Ashfields is always clean, there are no odours associated with some care homes. The staff pop in to check on residents regularly and always offer tea/coffee.

I always recommend Ashfields if asked by my clients, as the standards and staff always fo the extra mile to ensure residents are comfortable and cared for.

My Father-in-law was bed bound. He could hardly talk due to throat cancer in the 90's, he had a brain tumour which was growing rapidly but inoperable and also prostate cancer. He was checked on every two hours, he was assisted with meals and drinks and he loved coca cola!

The home was a lovely place, they were very welcoming to us, always had a smile, very kind to me, offering drinks and sandwiches. Towards the end of his life, they had someone in the room with him until we got there. He has been in several homes but this was the best by a mile.

The team of carers who look after my wife are excellent - patient and understanding, clearly dedicated to their residents and willing to "go the extra mile" for the residents and families.

Management techniques are modern and made use of digital/computerised systems of recording and back-up. Releasing my wife into care was difficult, but I now accept that I cannot complete with the care and attention she is receiving at Ashfields.
