My mother has been at Ashfields for a year now in Poppy Suite. The care is outstanding and the staff are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble. I know that my mum is receiving the best care possible and is very happy and well looked after.

I have nothing but praise for the wonderful staff at Ashfields. Moving Dad into a care home on discharge from hospital was the most difficult decision I've ever taken and made harder by an unsatisfactory trial elsewhere. Searching for a new home, from the moment I visited Ashfields I felt reassured
that Dad would receive the best care possible and staff would do everything they could to make him feel at home. That's certainly been the case. I really appreciate how hard Poppy Suite staff try to make Dad feel settled and happier on a daily basis despite the challenge that entails. Hearing my sometimes hard-to-please Dad praise some of the individuals caring for him makes me sure he's in the best place possible given his circumstances. I take much comfort from knowing he's well-cared-for, safe, and treated with dignity and compassion. That compassion and support is also shown to family members. Dad isn't interested in any activities so I really can't score them. Overall a truly 5* plus home.

My mum has found it very difficult to settle in Ashfields. The staff have treated her with dignity, compassion, humour and I appreciate how hard it is to make my mum happy. I can take comfort from the care my mum receives at Ashfields. The home is spotlessly clean and the staff treat me very sympathetically.
The staff do a wonderful job.

My Gran has been under the care at Ashfields for nearly a year now, at first it took a while for Gran to settle but the staff soon reassured her and we visited every day. Along came a Covid case and the home closed its doors which I totally understood but equally both Gran and I missed contact. The
staff of Poppy Suite Facetime me every day which gave us the opportunity to see and talk to her. Recently I was in the USA, Gran hates the thought of me flying, a wonderful carer downloaded an app to show Gran where in the sky I was, this gave her comfort. Upon landing very late in the evening I Facetime the home and Gran thought it was amazing that although I was half away around the world we could still speak, I looked at lots of homes before choosing Ashfields, I was blown away with how clean and smart the place was, the staff took time to really understand and care for Gran, the food is excellent and Gran is happy which is all that matters.
Reply from Josephine Greveson, Manager at Ashfields Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to review and for your positive comments. Ashfields and especially Poppy Suite are so pleased to have your gran as part of their family.

I have worked as a care home NHS consultant for just short of 20 years. Having to find a care home for my dear dad during the pandemic was heartbreaking. Dad moved into Ashfields January 2021 and passed February 2022. I honestly cannot recommend this home enough. The manager and her team are just amazing
and have person-centred care totally sorted. It was my dad’s home and his and our extended family. I can’t end without a cheers to the Activity Coordinator who is just outstanding in her activity provision and enabled so many photos of my dad smiling this past year. Thank you to you all.

From the moment our mum arrived at Ashfields in January 2021, we have been so grateful for the kindness, care, and compassion shown to mum on Poppy Suite. All the staff are amazing and I know that mum is well cared for. During the covid lockdowns, even though we couldn’t visit, video calls were arranged
and we felt reassured mum was safe and receiving a high level of care. As soon as you walk through the door at Ashfields, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. I can’t thank the staff at Ashfields enough and in particular the staff on Poppy Suite. Thank you for caring for mum so brilliantly.

My 93-year-old mother is in Ashfields Care Home and has now stopped eating altogether, the staff have been so fantastic towards her and have done everything they can to try to get her to eat again. Nothing at all is too much trouble for the staff. I am so glad we found a care home with so much kindness
and compassion for my mother.

My mum was accepted into Ashfields Care Home on Christmas Eve 2021. Since then she has been taken great care of by the amazing staff and management at Ashfields. They are most sensitive to Mum's needs and also to my feelings and are always trying to give Mum the best care possible. I wouldn't hesitate
to recommend Ashfields to anyone.

We would like to thank all the staff involved with the care of our beloved. You have all made such a tragic experience so much easier knowing that he was in such good hands until he passed away. I and my partner enjoyed our visits to see him together as we felt so welcome by you all and always left
with a glimmer of hope. You are all a credit to the care home and again we cannot thank you enough for your care and kindness. You have helped us every step of the way. We even managed a glimpse of him days before he passed and we had a laugh together?

My wife became a resident only recently but I am overwhelmed by the high standard of care and compassion shown by all levels of staff and administration. The home is very clean and tidy, and nothing seems to be too much trouble both for residents and visitors alike. There is a full programme of entertainment
for our loved ones to participate in if they so require, and I cannot praise Ashfields enough for caring so well for my loved one. Excellent, and thank you!

My Dad was a resident here for end-of-life care from 14th April to the 3rd May, when he passed in his sleep. There are not enough words to describe the staff here. Their aura of calm is the first thing that hits you. Dad was in Ashfields Care Home for a very short time, yet the care he received was
that of a friend or relative, loving and caring. I have special thanks for the member of staff I had most dealings with because she was with us for Dad's last hours. She is a most special lady. The rest of the staff who dealt with Dad, thanks to all of you, you are the kindest most caring, gentle-hearted people. Thank you.

Me and my sister cannot rate this home highly enough. They looked after my mum, on the 'Forget Me Not - Dementia suite', with love and compassion all the way through to the very end. When she died, the care home let us spend our last few days with her. They fed us, cared for us and helped us in our
grieving. I would recommend this home to anyone who needs to put their loved one in care. My sister described it as a 'hidden gem'.

My mum was in the home for 12 months and received amazing care, attention and nursing throughout her time. The staff really do care about the residents and I could see the love and happiness in my mum’s eyes when members of staff came in to see her. I will be forever grateful to each and every one of

My dad became a resident here in May 2020 for palliative care. I couldn't have wished for him to spend his final months anywhere better. In his final days, I was allowed to sit with him and the staff were so supportive, along with endless cups of tea. They've also kept their residents safe through the
Covid pandemic.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.854)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.854) out of 10 for Ashfields Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.854 for Ashfields Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (412 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 465 Ratings = 4.854
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashfields Care Home is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 76 registered maximum number of service users is 15.2, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
