The long-serving team at Asra House, an ‘Outstanding’ CQC-rated home (February 2022) for residents with an Asian lifestyle, are what makes this home really stand out. Speaking several languages, including Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Swahili and of course English, they are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents and celebrating every aspect of their cultural and religious beliefs.

The home-cooked authentic Asian cuisine at Asra House is a real highlight. Meat and vegetarian dishes are prepared by the home’s chefs in separate kitchens. Residents enjoy a vast variety of curries and daal dishes, with samosas and chapatis, served with home-made chutneys, raita and Indian sweets, every day.

Residents enjoy so many enriching activities, from traditional music, prayers and dancing to animal visits and laughing yoga. So many religious festivals are celebrated, and children from the local school often join in the celebrations.

There is a whole-home approach to activities and every day there is ‘happy hour’, where the team stop what they are doing and enjoy spontaneous activities with the residents.

The residents and their loved ones have a very active role in how their home is run, with resident and relative ambassadors. They support the manager with staff interviews and provide feedback to the team, many of whom have proudly been with the home for over 15 years.

Asra House also has its own minibus, to take the residents out on trips into the community, from the local park to temples and mosques.

The home has a beautiful secure garden leading from the main lounge, which is a beautiful space to relax in the summer with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. And the residents’ spacious bedrooms all have ensuite wet rooms.

The home also has a private Facebook group for family and friends, who can catch up with what their loved ones have been enjoying doing.

I'm always impressed by the way the staff car for all of the residents, not just my Grandmother. They are always warm and friendly to visitors and they cater to every need or request of family members of residents. The staff also do their best to organise events such as a cruise week. Volunteers always
seem happy to help with such events and the staff are very grateful and respectful. Most importantly, however, the residents are always in a bright mood to greet visitors.

We could not have asked for a kinder and more caring environment. Our dad is treated with the utmost respect. When there has been a problem, the staff have reacted promptly and with care. Dad is very happy and would never go back home. Asra House is his home.

I had a very good experience with this home manager of the home. She is very good - very supportive. She always listens to residents/family if they have any concerns. She communicates with all very well. Care staff are very good/supportive. They provide care with respect and dignity. Care staff always
involve resident in care planning, encourage to take part in activities, prompt and encourage to meet their personal care and nutritional needs. Resident feels that they have choice and control for their care. Care staff promote for their independence and wellbeing.

My mother has been in care here for over 2 years. In that time she has received very good care. The staff are caring and friendly. If I have any queries, they deal with it quickly. The Asian cuisine is extremely good, I often have meals there at weekends with my mother and there is only a small charge.
Worth it to be able to have a dinner in nice surroundings and spend good quality time with my mother.


I have been encouraged to get involved in helping with planning activities for the residents. Recently, I have been involved with organising a cruise week for the residents. It feels good to get involved and spend time with family members of other residents and share experiences.
Overall, I would recommend to anyone considering a residential care home, to visit Asra House.

Asra House is the warmest and happiest home we have been too. My auntie is so happy and content and that is only because she is looked after with love and care. Whenever we go to see her, she is so happy. The home is run very professionally and is very clean. The staff are always smiling. Thank you

My mum has just moved in and been here 4 days. Our experience so far has been positive in terms of the caring and friendly way in which mum has been welcomed. Staff have also been supportive of us. It's early days and we hope that mum will settle in as she didn't want to go into a care home. My main
concern, for now, is mum adapting to her new environment and her need being met. She has been used to one to one support.
Her room is lovely and clean and the standards are very good. Staff are very respectful of residents and their wishes.

Earlier this year, my mother needed an urgent placement because she had a fall and was also suffering from progressive dementia. Although Asra House Residential Care Home was not able to accept my mum immediately into their care, a place became available within a week.
From what I have observed the
staff at the home have provided excellent care for my mother and have tried to ensure all her needs were met. Also, the care manager contacted all the outside agencies involved in my mother's care to ensure the services were coordinated effectively.
My mother is now gradually settling down and getting used to the care home environment. The care staff have helped with this process as they are all helpful, caring and dedicated.
The home also has a good variety of sessions which can help to improve the well-being of the residents.

The service and care provided by not just the management of this care home but in particular the kind and considerate members of staff are beyond what I and my family would expect from such an establishment. Think I have made the best choice to keep my mum here and ever since the management has changed, things have gotten much better. Would definitely recommend this home. Food is good, staff are brilliant. Home is clean and staff and the manager always provide and do things with a smile.

Asra House is a well run and well-managed home. The location has its own maintained large gardens with spacious rooms overlooking the garden. The Asian cuisine is of a high standard. We have had the best car from Asra Team. They have not only supported our dad but us family. We have had our grandparents also been cared for here and going by the reputation and our personal experience. I myself would look forward to retiring here.

It is one of the best care homes I have seen for the Asian community. All the facilities, food and drinks are excellent. Management is very approachable and any issues are solved within a reasonable time. My mother has been in the home for 9 years and I would definitely recommend to anyone.

Excellent care home: building, facilities, rooms, food, management and care staff are all first rate. A very warm and caring home, most homely and warm atmosphere which is a reflection of the staff.
Mum is totally satisfied here - feeling happy, secure and safe. I haven't had a single complaint from
mum and I don't expect to. I can rest assured that mum is in the care of staff and management at this wonderful care home. Thoroughly professional where residents can live with dementia.

I find the staff to be very friendly and welcoming. They treat the residents with dignity and respect, and the residents always look well cared for and happy. I have watched them reassure distressed/confused residents with ease.
The food looks delicious and the residents aways seem to be enjoying
what they are given. The overall appearance of the home is that of a well managed and maintained place.

Asra care home is a very friendly well managed and a very good provider for care for both my grandparents and all its other residents. The home itself I feel shows high levels of cleanliness, excellent facilities and a wonderful friendly and caring group of staff. I feel very happy that my grandparents
are being taken care of well thanks to the manager and her excellent team. I highly recommendable care home for people who require excellent care in their older age.
