The long-serving team at Asra House, an ‘Outstanding’ CQC-rated home (February 2022) for residents with an Asian lifestyle, are what makes this home really stand out. Speaking several languages, including Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Swahili and of course English, they are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents and celebrating every aspect of their cultural and religious beliefs.

The home-cooked authentic Asian cuisine at Asra House is a real highlight. Meat and vegetarian dishes are prepared by the home’s chefs in separate kitchens. Residents enjoy a vast variety of curries and daal dishes, with samosas and chapatis, served with home-made chutneys, raita and Indian sweets, every day.

Residents enjoy so many enriching activities, from traditional music, prayers and dancing to animal visits and laughing yoga. So many religious festivals are celebrated, and children from the local school often join in the celebrations.

There is a whole-home approach to activities and every day there is ‘happy hour’, where the team stop what they are doing and enjoy spontaneous activities with the residents.

The residents and their loved ones have a very active role in how their home is run, with resident and relative ambassadors. They support the manager with staff interviews and provide feedback to the team, many of whom have proudly been with the home for over 15 years.

Asra House also has its own minibus, to take the residents out on trips into the community, from the local park to temples and mosques.

The home has a beautiful secure garden leading from the main lounge, which is a beautiful space to relax in the summer with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. And the residents’ spacious bedrooms all have ensuite wet rooms.

The home also has a private Facebook group for family and friends, who can catch up with what their loved ones have been enjoying doing.

My mother-in-law has severe dementia but she is very settled here and that makes me happy. The staff are amazing. They are very caring and considerate. Always welcome you with a smile. They are like a family and that shows through when you come through the door.

I regularly visit my Grandma, at least weekly, who is a resident of Asra House and I cannot speak highly enough of the care staff and the manager. The care staff tend to my Grandma's needs and the manager has helped my Grandma numerous times. It was a heartbreaking decision to put my Grandma in a care
home last year and she had been in another care home in December 2016 when I and my family went on holiday. After my experience of that care home, I felt extremely reluctant about having to put my Grandma in a care home so went to visit different homes including Asra. I felt Asra was a very comfortable environment and the staff seemed very welcoming and caring.
The manager is very approachable and always takes time to talk to me whenever I visit Asra. She makes sure to address any concerns I or my family have for my Grandma and she always takes time to talk to my Grandma as well as other residents. I would highly recommend this care home to others.

My grandmother has been a resident here for the last 14 months and the level of care she has received has been exemplary. The care staff are all caring and courteous. I can always leave feeling peaceful after a visit knowing that she is living in a great environment and knowing she is being well looked
after. The range of activities from painting, to singing, to playing games is a great opportunity for the residents to connect with one another and keeps them active. There is always a variety of 3-course menus for both dinner and lunch with snacks being provided in between.

My Auntie came into the home in 2001. She is a long-term resident with a disability. She was never fully happy. Staff were not always attentive and her needs were not being met. Food was basic, no variety. Since the home manager has taken over, the home is run completely different. She has addressed
many issues that needed to be addressed, such as the quality and variety of food served, staff attitude towards the residents and care facilities. Very pleased with the home manager.

From October 10th I have been coming to visit my dad for 6-8 hours. My observation the staff work as a team so that gives them less chance of getting over exhausted. The team work between the staff is amazing. I feel we have made the right choice for my dad.
All the staff go above and beyond with their
service.
Before I came here I had checked out seven other homes and my instance to choose this one has been the best.

The staff have always been hospitable and courteous. My wife calls her on a regular basis and she always gets greeted with respect - much like a family member. We were/are pleasantly surprised from our last few visits from the USA. Thank you for taking good care of our mother and my mother-in-law. Beautiful

Upon every visit, I am greeted by friendly staff and a calm environment. I am always pleasantly surprised to see the variety of activities planned daily for the residents and see the enjoyment of the residents, from the smiles on their faces.
