The long-serving team at Asra House, an ‘Outstanding’ CQC-rated home (February 2022) for residents with an Asian lifestyle, are what makes this home really stand out. Speaking several languages, including Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Swahili and of course English, they are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents and celebrating every aspect of their cultural and religious beliefs.

The home-cooked authentic Asian cuisine at Asra House is a real highlight. Meat and vegetarian dishes are prepared by the home’s chefs in separate kitchens. Residents enjoy a vast variety of curries and daal dishes, with samosas and chapatis, served with home-made chutneys, raita and Indian sweets, every day.

Residents enjoy so many enriching activities, from traditional music, prayers and dancing to animal visits and laughing yoga. So many religious festivals are celebrated, and children from the local school often join in the celebrations.

There is a whole-home approach to activities and every day there is ‘happy hour’, where the team stop what they are doing and enjoy spontaneous activities with the residents.

The residents and their loved ones have a very active role in how their home is run, with resident and relative ambassadors. They support the manager with staff interviews and provide feedback to the team, many of whom have proudly been with the home for over 15 years.

Asra House also has its own minibus, to take the residents out on trips into the community, from the local park to temples and mosques.

The home has a beautiful secure garden leading from the main lounge, which is a beautiful space to relax in the summer with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. And the residents’ spacious bedrooms all have ensuite wet rooms.

The home also has a private Facebook group for family and friends, who can catch up with what their loved ones have been enjoying doing.

An excellent, outstanding home, they take care of Mum very well. She is very happy indeed. The staff are very professional and sympathetic to Mum. My mum is thriving at this home and the food is lovely and the home is so clean.

My mum has been at Asra for just over one year. So far, the family have only positive things to say. Asra care home is the best care home, in our opinion. Staff are just excellent in all aspects. Facilities are great. Food is like home cooked and very good.

My father was at this care home from 23/03/2020 to 20/04/2020. He was happy in the care home with their services and care that was provided to him. Unfortunately, he passed away on 20/04/2020. He was very unhappy at another care home and was treated badly there by the staff. As a result, he decided
to move to Asra House Residential Care Home. My father and the staff at Asra House Residential Care Home communicated with one another very effectively. They also had banter with one another. As I mentioned earlier, my father passed away in the Care Home on 20/04/2020, but I spoke to my father and one member of staff in particular, the day before he passed away. My father's final words on the phone on 19/04/2020 were, "Don't worry about me, they are all looking after me here".

Both of my parents were resident at this home where they had spent the last few years of their life before departing us. They had a wonderful time and experience and were looked after by staff and management second to none. We would cherish all the memories while visiting parents regularly and very

I cannot comment on cleanliness and rooms as I have not had an opportunity to review these. Asra House facilities provide safe accommodation and friendly service from the support staff. It seriously lacks services on maintaining the mental and physical well-being of the clients, a point which I have
already mentioned. This, in my opinion, is an important requirement for the residents. There have been some improvements but patchy.

My mother has been here for one year. She has been cared for really well. She has improved a lot since she came here. She has made a few friends. She likes her food. The staff is very friendly and always welcoming with a smile.

the last five days of my stay here at Asra House has been a pleasant one. To highlight a few things, food:- very good, just like home-cooked (made) good for people who are convalescing. The very good management team who take special care of your wellbeing. Other teams who take and make a special effort
are attending care staff, medical team dispensing medicine from time to time, cleaners etc. God bless all at Asra House.

In later life, when you are looking for support and assistance to care for those closest to you - you must entrust, in times, some that you may never have met before.

The staff are all positive and know all residents and their close relatives by name. It is evident that the manager is actively and pro-actively ensuring staff are trained. I have always been reassured by a sense of warmth, safety and comfort that is instilled from the staff when visiting Asra House.
Despite their very busy jobs they all seem to take the time to get to know residents personally and respond to their individual care needs. There is a strong relationship
with families and staff have invited us on numerous occasions to eat at the home which is lovely. The food is of a very high standard. The environment always appears clean and tidy. Staff do their best to make residents feel at home as much as possible, which for me, is most important to our family.

Asra House is the best decision and best possible care home for my grandad.
This is due to the warmth from the staff, the togetherness from the residents and overall the homely feeling whenever we visit.
As my grandad has always said, Leicester is like mini India - so thank you to everyone at Asra
House for taking care of him and making him feel at home.

My experience of this home since Mum has been in the care home where her health has improved. She seems settled and happy and cheerful.
The staff and other residents are helpful and friendly which has helped her.
The care given has helped her physically and mentally.

We have been extremely pleased with Asra House Residential Care Home since my father, unfortunately, became a resident in October 2018. The home is modern and clean, and his room is tastefully decorated and very comfortable with an en-suite bathroom. The staff are extremely caring and supporting, and
always helpful, and it is very comforting for us to know that our father is in such safe hands.

I have visited my mother many times. I live in the Essex Area. The staff are so conscious of the residents. They take security very seriously. I found they treat the residents with dignity and respect, using respectable manner according to age and sex in their respective languages. My mother is bilingual
and has vascular dementia and speaks English and Gujarati so they adapt accordingly. I am very impressed by the care she receives and will recommend them to anyone. They also celebrate all the events, Christmas, Diwali etc, Halloween.

Putting my mother into care was a huge decision for us as a family and we were not united on this as being the best option, however, 6 months on we are in agreement that this was the best care home option for my mum. I visit her every weekend and this last weekend she was telling us that she is very
happy with all aspects of her care as are we. It truly feels like a home environment. The staff are friendly, caring, informative and best of all have picked up on mum's idiosyncrasies!
