Overview

The Review Score of 9.1 (maximum of 10) for New Wycliffe Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for New Wycliffe Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.431 for New Wycliffe Home is calculated as follows: ( (39 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.431

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.652 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for New Wycliffe Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 9.2 positive Reviews (46 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 6 Reviews ÷ 9.2 Target = 0.652

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

9.1 New Wycliffe Home has a Review Score of 9.1 (9.083) from 6 Reviews

The staff, particularly the manager, have been very supportive through this difficult time. Problems have arisen but the manager has helped us all through the process and the staff have been kind to our parents.

My father has been a resident at New Wycliffe Home for 16 months. All the staff there look after him so well. The home arranges activities and trips out. I can visit whenever I want and I know that my father is safe in their care.

The manager is excellent and this is reflected in how the home and staff run. She is approachable and knows all service users by name and their history. Staff are kind to residents and treat them with dignity.I spent a lot of time here and I have never heard or seen anything to cause me concern. Sometimes dining area floors are messy after meals and are not cleaned. Rooms are basic and would be nice to have a shower in en-suite facilities. Food is home cooked on premises with a good choice.

Mum was frail, anxious, isolated and unable to move unaided with poor eyesight.

In this lovely environment, Mum has thrived due to the excellent leadership of the manager; her staff creating an effective/caring team whilst providing a comfortable, happy, relaxed atmosphere.

Their support enabling Mum improved mobility/access to activities trips out. Very good meals with choices.
Family members visited regularly, open access always welcomed and witnessing excellent care/rapport and respect of residents at all times.
Loved to see Mum laughing and joking with staff, she felt secure and happy. More independent.

Choices of activities Vista also hosted themed events and parties (very good links between Vista and the local community).
Excellent sensory Garden which my mother enjoyed Mum became more confident having choices again, more in control, great to see the change in her, knowing her care couldn't be bettered elsewhere.

My father has advanced Alzheimer's and can be aggressive especially when personal care is administered. Staff are kind and patient with him and do as much as they can to maintain his dignity and privacy. Having observed carers with other residents on numerous occasions, I have been impressed by their kind attitudes. I never hear any abusive comments made about the difficult duties they have to undertake, nor ever seen or heard any inappropriate behaviour.
