The day couldn't have gone any better and everything was just perfect for Eve. She really enjoyed herself and we couldn't have done it ourselves without the whole team at Chater Lodge. Mum has been resident at Chater Lodge for 3 years and has been very well looked after. The facilities and care are exceptional. This review relates to Mum's 100th birthday celebration - the Home put on an excellent buffet for about 26 people. The 'spread' selection and the ambience was fantastic. Maria (entertainments) worked exceptionally hard on Mum's behalf - Mum wanted birthday cards, Maria put out a 'shout' and the count so far exceeds 220!! Mum stayed bright and alert the whole afternoon with a beaming smile. Huge thanks go to everyone at Chater Lodge - always so polite, charming and accommodating.

Mother came into Chater Lodge for respite care but ended up staying as a permanent resident. At one hundred years old and after living independently for so long it took a while to settled into the new routines. She is now happy in her new surroundings.

Staff here go over and above. Always happy in their work which shows in their caring duties. Activities are planned and welcomed by residents and their families. Staff involve families. I truly feel mum has found her forever home. I can rest knowing she is cared for and respected.

I had intended for my mother to be at the Home permanently but we withdrew her due to the poor overall Home experience. A written complaint has been submitted to Barchester and this has been forwarded to the CQC. Would not place a relative there. Excessively disappointed.

The staff at Chater Lodge are always warm, welcoming and friendly. it was my mum's 97th birthday and four of us had a lovely lunch followed by a delicious homemade birthday cake. The staff made my mum's day very special and ensured we were all fully catered for and we all had the best of days.

Everyone is very helpful and goes the extra mile with any of my concerns sorted very quickly. It can be difficult being the 'daughter' as we all want the best for our parents. I have worked in care settings since leaving school and have worked my way up from apprentice to my current management position. I joined Chater House in 2012 and was soon promoted to Deputy Manager, and then again to General Manager in 2017. I have nearly completed an NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management. Michael came to Chater Lodge in the summer of 2023, looking for his own care needs he was apprehensive about coming into a care home, initially he came to Chater Lodge for a short stay and then quickly fell in love with the home, its residents and colleagues that he decided to make Chater his home.
Michael was a Major in the British Army for over 40 years and has had so many life experiences in that time and lived in a variety of locations. He says that since the passing of Irene his loving Wife, he has found the new friendships he has forged at Chater Lodge have helped him with his grief.
Michael is so proud to have become the homes Resident Ambassador and is delighted to be given the opportunity to represent our home.
