A lovely, friendly care home.
The staff are so very kind and patient. The home is very clean. A bonus is that my dog is allowed to visit his "Mam". which is lovely.
We have been able to visit by sitting in the garden - with social distancing and masks.

Thank you!

Our friend and neighbour went to the care home initially for two weeks and liked it so much he decided to stay. When we visit, he always looks clean and well cared for - his only complaint is he is fed too well! A big thank you to all the amazing staff.

My mum has been a resident for over 2-years, we as a family are very pleased with her care. The home has a lovely atmosphere, and all the staff are welcoming and friendly. They have done an excellent job in keeping all the residents safe in this pandemic. Well done.

I visited my mother for her birthday on 4th March, she had very recently been in hospital and was frail. Sitting in a new recliner chair, on a pressure relief cushion, her legs raised, ankles less swollen. She was dressed in an outfit I had bought for her to wear for a niece’s wedding back in 2015. A cotton two-piece with a turquoise tiny flower print. A purchase to ensure she could wear again and again. I was able to sit down on a new low stool with her, head height next to her. The stool was too low for me, having had a hip operation, I asked one of the staff if I could borrow a cushion, she gave me one immediately. I hadn’t realised the staff were about to lead a Residents’ Meeting, coinciding with the monthly Newsletter. They let me stay with Mum, no question of me having to leave. It was very interesting to see and hear the staff lead the meeting, one member of staff only recently joining the team, the residents relaxed and participating. Humour and reciprocation evident.

I have been here over two years now and must say I have been well looked after and know I can talk with someone if I get a bit low or anything is worrying me. As they say, there is no place like home but this is second best for me.

My husband came in with me after I broke my shoulder - I was his carer.
We were allocated a double room and was made very comfortable.
We both get looked after and manage to go on some outings together.

Staff are always very pleasant, even though they have all been doing more than their share due to illness, both residents and staff were hit badly.

Excellent all-round care. All staff very helpful, kind and friendly. Will always take time to talk to me and explain how my mother is. Nothing is too much trouble. I feel all my mother's needs are met. I feel very happy and thankful that my mother is very well looked after and could not wish for more in a care home.

The care given is very good and the staff are dedicated and empathetic. Good activities with visits to the local wildlife park, which was a major exercise well delivered. Work on the festival display was engaging for my mother and productive - really impressed.

After I spent a week in hospital because of all my joints becoming stiff and making my mobility hard work, I was transferred to this home which I've found to be well run, pleasant with caring assistants friendly and helpful. Also, the kitchen staff provide enjoyable food.

Very caring, safe and looked after. I'm only here for one week but should I need care at a later date I will not hesitate to ask you to look after me again.

I couldn't eat or drink when I arrived but within three days, started to feel more like my old self.

They provide continuous care with dedicated staff but always look for improvements with experienced staff mentoring recruited staff generally, overall with the care of residents with all 'age' related problems/difficulties.

I'm happy that my mum is getting care from all the lovely staff there!

Other than initial formalities, I was made welcome without undue ceremony.

Food is good, in acceptable helpings, sufficient for sedentary individuals such as myself, well prepared and courteously served.

The general ambience is very good.

Overall; good. Helped by my own improvement in health and mobility.

My uncle has received nothing but first-class care at Boultham Park House. He took a while to settle in but the staff have always borne with him and allowed him to find his feet and a routine, make new friends and make the most of the facilities available.

The care home itself is always clean and tidy, well decorated and my uncle's room is always spotless, with clean towels and bed linen and he is delighted with the meals/food and the laundry service - these never being his favourite tasks at home!

The activities are varied, including music and physical activity and residents are free to join in as they wish. My uncle's health and anxiety problems have vastly improved in his time here and as well as hairdressing, etc, having 'in house' optician, chiropodist, etc, has been a real boon.

All the care staff and management are very professional, friendly, kind and caring. Nothing is too much trouble and I always feel confident that my uncle is in the safest of hands.

Boultham Park house is given the top accolade at the award ceremony for all homes in St Johns Trust! Thrilled that the manager and all her amazing team have been recognised for their excellent care and dedication, showing consistently high standards throughout the home. Thank you is sometimes not a big enough word, but the trophy and recognition from management and peers are richly deserved. Now everyone knows the Manager and her team are "simply the best"!

Joanne Johnson
Joanne JohnsonJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2003

Joanne Johnson is the Home Manager at The Orders of St John Care Home, Boultham Park in Lincoln.

Joanne has worked in the care industry for the last twenty-two years, the last fifteen being with The Orders of St John Care Trust. She began my career initially as a Carer, working both days & nights before then being promoted to Care Leader, which gave Joanne the necessary leadership skills to become Head of Care and more recently Home Manager.

As Joanne has developed personally in each role, that passion has never left her and now as the Home manager, she still gets a real satisfaction from engaging with the Residents and helping where she can.

Since working in the industry, Joanne has achieved NVQ Level 2&3 in Health and Social care, Level 3 in effective Management. Jo is a medication champion for the Trust, and an appointed First Aider, who is working towards her level 5 management award.

In 2016, Joanne was presented with a chairman’s commendation for meritorious service which she is extremely proud of.

Every day is different in the life of the care home, usually very busy, but managed effectively by prioritising tasks. Jo has a very approachable nature and has an open-door policy enabling all colleagues, residents and visitors to feel they are able to talk to her.

Joanne’s passion for care of the elderly developed at a young age, having a close relationship with her Grandparents and taking her Grandfather to visit his friends in a variety of care providers, she soon realised that she wanted to support individuals and make a difference where she could.

When not at work, I enjoy foreign travel, socialising, dining out, reading and spending quality time with my husband Richard and my much-loved dog Ollie.
