Reviews

9 Ruckland Court has a Review Score of 9 (8.992)

The Review Score of 9 (maximum of 10) for Ruckland Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 8 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Ruckland Court in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.292 for Ruckland Court is calculated as follows: ( (40 Excellents x 5) + (45 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.292

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ruckland Court is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 10 positive Reviews (50 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 7 Reviews ÷ 10 Target = 0.700

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My Mother is happy living at Ruckland Court. The staff are very kind and friendly and if there is a problem it is always sorted out quickly. At times she does have to wait for long periods for a carer to come and toilet her but this is due, I think, to them being short staffed. I cannot praise the Carers enough - they do a hard job - but are always cheerful. The home is always clean and welcoming. My Mother enjoys the food served in the pleasant dining room. I would like to pass on my thanks to all at Ruckland Court.

My mother, due to vascular dementia, needed to move from her own home where she received twice daily short visits, to a home providing greater care and support. She attended Ruckland Court as a day visitor and was able to take up a flat here just under 2 years ago. The move was smooth, and the staff have been outstanding throughout including across the change of ownership. Mum has thrived and although struggles now to follow a conversation, she is able to take care of her own personal care with the support of the staff. I am delighted that at 84 she has put on weight since moving to the home, and that her deterioration has slowed down. The home has recently put in extra activities for residents and there are now new menus, and also activity notice boards. I do not live close so I needed a home with a good atmosphere, pleasant rooms where residents are allowed their own things, and excellent staff. Ruckland fits all that. I am very pleased with all they have done for mum.

I feel my mother is well cared for and the staff/carers are very kind. Her dignity, under the circumstances, is respected. I am very satisfied with this aspect.

Accommodation, furnished with my mother's own furniture and containing a kitchen and bathroom was a USP for us.

When we arrived with a removal van last February, her flat still contained furniture and had not been deep cleaned. I was reassured the day before that all was ready. We could not settle her before early evening which was far from ideal.

Impressed by the range of activities provided for the residents, staff encourage her to participate in these.

There is always fresh fruit in my mother's room, thank you.

When needed, medical care has been summoned quickly and aftercare has been evident.

We like the cheerful, friendly staff and how well they know the residents. My mother is not very sociable but she has formed strong and trusting bonds with the carers which enhances her life.

D├ęcor is somewhat tired and cheerless in the corridors, reception and dining room.

We don't have enough contact with management to comment on efficiency.

All members of staff are polite and appear to be respectful of the residents.
They are friendly to relatives and prepared to discuss issues on visits.
The home is clean and welcoming and the food provided is varied and alternatives are offered.
The activities offered do seem to be limited on a daily basis, which could limit the amount of time the residents are spent interacting with others. My father does feel that there is not much on offer for him to be involved with. However the special outings have been very good and he has enjoyed these very much.

We have always found the staff caring and friendly, treating my Mother with dignity and respect. The flat is comfortable and has everything my Mother needs, although she has, in the past, preferred to spend time in the lounge with the other residents where she gets involved with the various activities provided.
The quality of food in the dining room is excellent and we know she enjoys her meals.
We are happy in the knowledge that my Mother is being well looked after and cared for. Thank you.

My mother has been in Ruckland Court for 3-4 years and has a first class attention from staff all the time. The dining has also been very good. No complaints at all from our family.
