My father has been well looked after, he's happy and contented.
During our visit, he mentioned several times how wonderful the staff are and how well he has been looked after.
The staff have all been polite and helpful.

Since the support manager and her team took over the management of Barchester Brampton View Care Home, there has been a huge change for the better. The home is now very well-run. It is lovely and calm and the atmosphere is warm, caring and reassuring. The new staff on Lower Vallys fill me with confidence
that my dad Us cared for and treated with dignity. He is much calmer than he used to be and much more settled.
Well done to the support manager and team.

Brompton View is a modern, well-appointed building and grounds; it is spacious and comfortable and more akin to a hotel than a care home. My mother spent six weeks in respite there while waiting for a place in a more local care home, and she told me that the food was good and the staff very caring.
I, too, found the staff very helpful and flexible to deal with. We were both sad she was leaving. If it hadn't been for the distance away from us and her friends, she would certainly have become a permanent resident.

After my father was discharged from Hospital I found Brampton View Care Home on the Internet. It's a great care home if, like my father, you're looking for a community, rural care home in the middle of the countryside. Nurses and staff here have been helpful to my father and also to family and friends.
After discharge Dad had a big sore above his bottom which the staff immediately made better.

Where does one start? This home goes from poor to horrendously inadequate on all accounts. We then go back to poor. We pick it up then, a lovely place we are now back to bad. More and more agency staff. Some days breakfast is still being served just before midday. Managers change so many times one loses
count. Lots of head office staff on show, but that does not help the hands-on problem. One comes in to clean my family member's room, not a place that is happy.

From the beginning of when Mum came in for respite, the staff were lovely. Accessible, easy to contact, sympathetic and always had time to listen. Procedures to access respite were quick and straightforward. Mum felt that there could be more structure/routine to when drinks, meals and cleaning, so that
was clear to what was happening and when. All the staff were kind and caring (no matter how busy) to both Mum and our family.

We were able to celebrate Christmas with my grandmother at Brampton View Care Home. They set up a wonderful dining area in The Library room where we were able to have an amazing Christmas breakfast. On the 10th October 2022, I picked up my father from Brampton View Home after a respite break of just over two weeks in a condition that was of great concern. Although he suffers from Alzheimer's he had walked into the home, be it with the aid of a walking stick and when collected came out in a wheelchair,
very frail, somewhat confused, unable to stand or walk and as discovered when he got home was wearing a nappy.
I had asked when picking him up if he had an infection as he was showing typical signs and was assured, he did not have such. In less than 24 hours he was admitted to the hospital with severe dehydration and a water infection. As with anyone being admitted to the hospital questions are asked about the days running up to admittance which I was unable to answer as he had been residing in the home. Nearly three weeks after putting in an access date request his care records arrived which were of a very poor standard and shockingly no medication or nutrition details.

Since the recent change in management, the home has the most amazing feeling. Staff are happy, activities are varied, and the quality of life in the home is back to the lively home it should be! Seeing the staff dancing around the reception in the morning and singing to residents whilst providing care.
I am a volunteer and have come back to support the home now that life has changed after Covid. Well done to all the carers and management team. I look forward to visiting regularly and helping out as we recently have for an amazing wedding held at Brampton.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.774)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.774) out of 10 for Barchester Brampton View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 40 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.774 for Barchester Brampton View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (388 Excellents x 5) + (66 Goods x 4) + (19 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 474 Ratings = 4.774
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Brampton View Care Home is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 88 registered maximum number of service users is 17.6, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hello. I am Cristina. I joined Brampton View in 2023 as Head of the Memory Lane Unit and have just taken the role of Deputy Manager.

I bring a vast amount of knowledge and experience. I am passionate about the care I provide for our residents and proud that I am part of a team that is dedicated to the same goals and values to continually improve the quality, health and wellbeing of all our residents in the home.

Therapeutic benefits through activities are important to the residents, and we have a lovely garden in which we grow flowers and vegetables. I have a passion for gardening and enjoy the time spent with residents doing this or in my own garden. I am also an avid reader and find that this is a way for me to relax and improve my well-being.

Hello, I'm Kim, and I've had the pleasure of being a part of the wonderful Brampton View team since 2015. Starting off as the Activities Lead, I quickly moved into the role of Activity Coordinator, where I found a deep passion for creating a fantastic environment within our home. I also supported the housekeeping team to ensure everything was spick and span. In 2018, I was thrilled to step into the position of Head Housekeeper and lead my own amazing team.

Over the past 4 and a half years, we've built a diverse housekeeping team that is dedicated to providing our residents with a clean, organised, and personalised living space. I take immense pride in maintaining the highest cleanliness standards and ensuring that our environment is always impeccable.

Aside from keeping our living space pristine, I love spending time with the residents, often offering them a comforting hot drink or a freshly baked cake. I aim to support both residents and staff in the day-to-day operations of our beautiful home.

If the residents are in good health, happy, and well, this makes me feel good. I love to see a resident improving in health and feel that connection with each individual that I care for. Having my residents feel safe, secure and happy is the most important aspect of my role. I have a well-accomplished team and we work in unity as one, which ensures the care, compassion and well-being we deliver to our residents. I have an excellent relationship with the residents' families, and they enjoy speaking with me about their loved ones.

I enjoy spending quality time reading a good psychological book and even more so with my family, especially my son, who is diagnosed with autism. We enjoy family holidays exploring natural wonders and astrology. In days gone by, I was also an avid basketball and tennis player.

Job Title: Second Chef Joined: 2012

Hello, I'm Marta, Second Chef at Brampton View. With over 12 years of experience, I have worked my way up from a housekeeper to a carer, then a hospitality team member, and finally to my current role as Second Chef. My journey began when I discovered a passion for baking, which led me to become a kitchen assistant and eventually attain the position of Second Chef, a role that I have cherished for the past 6 years.

Originally from the Philippines, I started my career as a housekeeper for a private family before taking on similar roles in Singapore. When the family relocated to the UK, I continued to manage their household, taking care of everything from cooking and cleaning to childcare and even looking after their pets. These experiences have equipped me with valuable skills that I now bring to my role at Brampton View.

I am deeply dedicated to providing the residents with not only delectable baked goods but also a diverse selection of delicious menus. Collaborating with the Head Chef, I ensure that each resident's specific dietary and culinary preferences are met with care and attention.

Beyond my work, my family holds a special place in my heart, and I devote time and effort to ensure their well-being and happiness. With unwavering commitment, I strive to create a nurturing and fulfilling lifestyle for my loved ones.

Hello, I'm Matter, a senior carer at Brampton View, and I've been working at the home since 2023. Originally from Zimbabwe, I have been a registered nurse there since 2006, and my qualifications are still recognised in my home country. When I moved to the UK, I started as an agency worker, but I longed for a more fulfilling role. My brother, also a nurse at Barchester in Somerset, encouraged me to apply for positions closer to home and started working as a care assistant. I was soon promoted to senior carer when the opportunity arose.

I am naturally caring and compassionate, and I strive to support our residents in living their best lives at the home. I have a keen instinct for providing the best care, and I actively engage with residents, their families, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for all involved.

Outside of work, my beautiful family - my husband and four children - are my passion, and I take great joy in caring for their needs. My Christian faith is a cornerstone of my life, and it complements my approach to care. In my leisure time, I enjoy socialising with friends and playing a competitive game of tennis.
