Any issues I have raised with the manager have been listened to and actioned. Knowing that you are being listened to and issues addressed is, in my opinion, very important. The last six to nine months have seen improvements. Less reliance on agency staff has been a good thing and this has helped in the improvements I've seen.

Safety/security - overall, good apart from front door/entrance being easy to get in.

The staff always go above and beyond to make sure that my in-laws are well looked after and their needs are met. The family can relax knowing they are safe and secure. We are all looking forward to the special lunch that the staff are kindly putting on so that we will be able to create some special memories this Christmas.

My father has been well looked after, he's happy and contented.
During our visit, he mentioned several times how wonderful the staff are and how well he has been looked after.

The staff have all been polite and helpful.

Since the support manager and her team took over the management of Barchester Brampton View Care Home, there has been a huge change for the better. The home is now very well-run. It is lovely and calm and the atmosphere is warm, caring and reassuring. The new staff on Lower Vallys fill me with confidence that my dad Us cared for and treated with dignity. He is much calmer than he used to be and much more settled.

Well done to the support manager and team.

Brompton View is a modern, well-appointed building and grounds; it is spacious and comfortable and more akin to a hotel than a care home. My mother spent six weeks in respite there while waiting for a place in a more local care home, and she told me that the food was good and the staff very caring. I, too, found the staff very helpful and flexible to deal with. We were both sad she was leaving. If it hadn't been for the distance away from us and her friends, she would certainly have become a permanent resident.

After my father was discharged from Hospital I found Brampton View Care Home on the Internet. It's a great care home if, like my father, you're looking for a community, rural care home in the middle of the countryside. Nurses and staff here have been helpful to my father and also to family and friends. After discharge Dad had a big sore above his bottom which the staff immediately made better.

Where does one start? This home goes from poor to horrendously inadequate on all accounts. We then go back to poor. We pick it up then, a lovely place we are now back to bad. More and more agency staff. Some days breakfast is still being served just before midday. Managers change so many times one loses count. Lots of head office staff on show, but that does not help the hands-on problem. One comes in to clean my family member's room, not a place that is happy.

From the beginning of when Mum came in for respite, the staff were lovely. Accessible, easy to contact, sympathetic and always had time to listen. Procedures to access respite were quick and straightforward. Mum felt that there could be more structure/routine to when drinks, meals and cleaning, so that was clear to what was happening and when. All the staff were kind and caring (no matter how busy) to both Mum and our family.

On the 10th October 2022, I picked up my father from Brampton View Home after a respite break of just over two weeks in a condition that was of great concern. Although he suffers from Alzheimer's he had walked into the home, be it with the aid of a walking stick and when collected came out in a wheelchair, very frail, somewhat confused, unable to stand or walk and as discovered when he got home was wearing a nappy.

I had asked when picking him up if he had an infection as he was showing typical signs and was assured, he did not have such. In less than 24 hours he was admitted to the hospital with severe dehydration and a water infection. As with anyone being admitted to the hospital questions are asked about the days running up to admittance which I was unable to answer as he had been residing in the home. Nearly three weeks after putting in an access date request his care records arrived which were of a very poor standard and shockingly no medication or nutrition details.

Hello. I am Cristina. I joined Brampton View in 2023 as Head of the Memory Lane Unit and have just taken the role of Deputy Manager.

I bring a vast amount of knowledge and experience. I am passionate about the care I provide for our residents and proud that I am part of a team that is dedicated to the same goals and values to continually improve the quality, health and wellbeing of all our residents in the home.

I work closely with the general practitioners, district nurses, occupational therapists, dieticians and other external agencies that support the residents.

It is my goal to ensure that the home is a safe and secure environment for the residents and their families and that they feel confident in the work we are doing, the communication we provide, and the inclusive strategy we hold from the welcome received to the journey they have living in their home here at Brampton View.

Therapeutic benefits through activities are important to the residents, and we have a lovely garden in which we grow flowers and vegetables. Hello. I am Glenn. I joined the team at Brampton View in 2021 as Head Chef. I have 35 years of culinary experience, and I have had the privilege of working in many locations, including the island of Bermuda for 10 years and Scotland for 8 years, where I ran my own restaurants. I have also had the pleasure of putting my culinary talents to the test for royalty and other famous people.

Since working in healthcare, I have found such fulfilment in being able to provide enjoyment for the residents in their mealtime experience. It feels like cooking for my extended family. I enjoy taking time out of my day to visit the residents to ask for feedback on the meals and tailor the menu for their preferences, as it is their menu! At Brampton view we run our Pudding Club, where each month we recreate a resident’s recipe from their lives and I have provided a cooking demonstration of this. As well as being the nutrition champion for the home I like to take part in the Barchester competitions I involve the residents and my wider team in these, I was also nominated for Chef of the year! Christmas 2023 I produced a gingerbread house advert calendar where each day a different resident could open a house for a treat in the countdown to Christmas. Easter 2024 I won the Easter cake competition with my Easter story cake showing the crucifixion of Jesus and the tradition seminal cake. We also won the best Ice Cream Sundae!

I am an avid supporter of American Football League and enjoy getting dressed up to attend the games is a must for me. I enjoy keeping myself in good health and attend the gym as and when I can.

Kimberley ChapmanJob Title:Head Housekeeper

Hello, I'm Kim, and I've had the pleasure of being a part of the wonderful Brampton View team since 2015. Starting off as the Activities Lead, I quickly moved into the role of Activity Coordinator, where I found a deep passion for creating a fantastic environment within our home. I also supported the housekeeping team to ensure everything was spick and span. In 2018, I was thrilled to step into the position of Head Housekeeper and lead my own amazing team.

Over the past 4 and a half years, we've built a diverse housekeeping team that is dedicated to providing our residents with a clean, organised, and personalised living space. I take immense pride in maintaining the highest cleanliness standards and ensuring that our environment is always impeccable.

Aside from keeping our living space pristine, I love spending time with the residents, often offering them a comforting hot drink or a freshly baked cake. I aim to support both residents and staff in the day-to-day operations of our beautiful home.

Outside of work, I have a deep passion for the environment and find peace in the therapeutic benefits of freshwater swimming, and I am an avid runner, which I've enjoyed for many years, and have taken part in many marathons. Family is incredibly important to me, and I cherish every moment spent with them, and that includes our wonderful dog, Bella, who keeps us on our toes!

Amanda WaldenJob Title:Team LeaderJoined: 2022

Hello. I am Amanda. I joined the team at Brampton View in 2022 as a Team Leader. I have achieved my diploma in Level 3 in Health and Social Care and bring more than 30 years of care experience to Brampton View. I have worked in many different care services, including learning disabilities. I was also privileged to manage 2 care home settings through the pandemic.

Care started within my family setting when I was younger, and I worked with St John Ambulance for 14 years, also as a volunteer with them as a First Aid trainer. I then joined the care sector in 2012 with palliative care. I was able to provide support to patients and families, building rapport and empathy.

It is very important to me that the residents, families and external visitors are all provided with the best support, communication, and understanding, and I will give the best of myself to ensure their well-being is paramount. Hello. I am Anna. I have been a team member at Brampton View since 2021, when I joined as a Registered Nurse. I have over 36 years of nursing experience and have achieved a Master’s degree in Special Pedagogy and a Bachelor’s degree in Resocialisation. I have also spent time volunteering for prisons and was president of a young people’s organisation. When living in Poland, I was the senior nurse for the Neurosurgery and Oncology-Surgery unit. I also had the pleasure of writing articles for the local hospital newspaper.

It was a childhood dream to be a nurse and always my first-choice career. I love everything about nursing and am passionate about the residents I care for. If the residents are in good health, happy, and well, this makes me feel good. I love to see a resident improving in health and feel that connection with each individual that I care for. Hello, I'm Marta, Second Chef at Brampton View. With over 12 years of experience, I have worked my way up from a housekeeper to a carer, then a hospitality team member, and finally to my current role as Second Chef. My journey began when I discovered a passion for baking, which led me to become a kitchen assistant and eventually attain the position of Second Chef, a role that I have cherished for the past 6 years.

Originally from the Philippines, I started my career as a housekeeper for a private family before taking on similar roles in Singapore. When the family relocated to the UK, I continued to manage their household, taking care of everything from cooking and cleaning to childcare and even looking after their pets. These experiences have equipped me with valuable skills that I now bring to my role at Brampton View.

I am deeply dedicated to providing the residents with not only delectable baked goods but also a diverse selection of delicious menus. Collaborating with the Head Chef, I ensure that each resident's specific dietary and culinary preferences are met with care and attention.

Beyond my work, my family holds a special place in my heart, and I devote time and effort to ensure their well-being and happiness. With unwavering commitment, I strive to create a nurturing and fulfilling lifestyle for my loved ones.

Hello, I'm Matter, a senior carer at Brampton View, and I've been working at the home since 2023. Originally from Zimbabwe, I have been a registered nurse there since 2006, and my qualifications are still recognised in my home country. My brother, also a nurse at Barchester in Somerset, encouraged me to apply for positions closer to home and started working as a care assistant. I was soon promoted to senior carer when the opportunity arose.

I am naturally caring and compassionate, and I strive to support our residents in living their best lives at the home. I have a keen instinct for providing the best care, and I actively engage with residents, their families, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for all involved.

Outside of work, my beautiful family - my husband and four children - are my passion, and I take great joy in caring for their needs. My Christian faith is a cornerstone of my life, and it complements my approach to care. In my leisure time, I enjoy socialising with friends and playing a competitive game of tennis.

Hello, I'm Comfort, a registered nurse at Brampton View. With over 35 years of nursing experience, I have been part of this home for the past 5 years as a bank nurse. Originally from Nigeria, I began my career in a large hospital before seizing the opportunity to work and study in the UK, which opened up new and exciting career prospects. Eventually, I settled in London with my beautiful family.

I find great fulfilment in the caring environment of the care home. The smaller size allows for long-term relationships to form between the residents and the staff, creating a sense of family.
