If someone needs to be in a nursing home I have found this one to be one of the best. This home is always well furnished and spotlessly clean with no unpleasant odours.
The staff attend to all my mother's needs daily including all personal care and I have had no issues with this.
I have found the staff to be kind and helpful and more importantly, my mother has had no concerns either.
Thank you for your review. We are so happy to hear that you are reassured knowing your mother is well cared for in our home. Thank you for choosing Richmond Villages.
Mum has been a resident on the care floor at Richmond Village for 18 months, and while it took her a little while to settle in, I am so very glad that we made the decision to move her there. The care staff are so kind towards Mum and very reassuring and there is a lot of love around Mum. The facilities are excellent, and the quality of the accommodation is good. With such a broad range of activities to keep Mum amused and engaged in everyday life, and such high standards of care, I have peace of mind knowing that Mum is safe and being very well looked after. On the rare occasions when issues have arisen, these matters have been promptly and thoroughly investigated, and fully resolved.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are so happy to hear that you have peace of mind knowing that your mum is safe and well cared for. Thank you again for your feedback.
The staff at Richmond are kind, friendly and helpful, whether working in catering, cleaning, domiciliary care or arranging social activities. My father was keen to keep his own independence, and we feel much happier knowing the level of care he receives. Communication is super and we can check his notes every day, as well as talking to people if need be. This is a super retirement village.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. We are so happy to hear that you find it reassuring to know that your father is safe and cared for. Thank you for choosing Richmond Villages.
Mam went into an assisted living suite for a week's trial with a view to buying and moving in, Which she has decided to do. From initially viewing the place and throughout, everyone has been a pleasure to deal with, and Mam had a really enjoyable week. The quality of the accommodation, the facilities and the helpfulness of all the staff can't be faulted. There are so many interesting events going on every day that Mam needed a rest when she came out! Can't wait for her to move in so she's near us, and we have the peace of mind that she's safe, has things to keep her occupied during the day, and she's looked after while keeping some of her independence.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are happy to hear that your Mum enjoyed her trial, and we certainly look forward to her coming back to stay with us too.
The team at Richmond helped mum move in with minimal disruption and continued to help her settle and to deal with her early worries. I'm really happy she has such support and care around her and some great activities to help her feel part of a new family.
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that the support provided helped your mum feel at home quickly. Please do let us know if there is anything further we can do to make her feel as comfortable as possible.
My mother has stayed here for a two-week respite and absolutely loves it. The suite she has used is beautifully furnished and the shared lounges are comfortable and spacious. The dining room is of a very high standard and the food served is of excellent quality. The service and care my mother has received have been wonderful and she is looking forward to staying there again.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are so happy to hear that your mother enjoyed her stay with us and we look forward to seeing her again soon.
In every way, they are always kind and gentle.
The grounds are beautiful and a pleasure to walk around.
The food is excellent and lots of choices.
Although the apartments are very nice a few of the facilities have not been designed for older people eg the way the showers work, and the signs around the home are poor for people with poor memories I think having a special carer who could mentor or be with new people more frequently in the first couple of weeks would be really helpful.
Overall though this is a lovely place and we have been made to feel very welcome
The carers are very kind and attentive.
The ancillary staff are friendly and very caring as well.
The nursing staff are thorough, professional and very kind. They update the family regularly.
Thank you for your feedback. It is always so nice to hear our staff described as caring, attentive and kind. Thank you for choosing Richmond Villages.
I now live on site so am able to visit him at any time and for as long as I please so that, too, is a comfort. I am always made welcome when I visit and that, too, is a comfort when we are now no longer able to live together.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are so happy to be able to help support you both and it is lovely to hear how much this means to you. Thank you for choosing Richmond Villages.
I was operated on at the General Hospital and since I live alone my daughter found Richmond Village rehab facility nearby. I came to the village and was greeted by friendly staff who found me a haven where I could recuperate. The caring staff have been wonderful in looking after me in a tricky period of my recovery. Nothing is too much trouble for them. All the staff including those responsible for cleaning, supplying food, medication, caring have been excellent.
Thank you for your feedback. We are happy that we were able to look after you and help you on your way to recovery. Thank you for choosing Richmond Villages.
My mum went to Richmond Village following a brief stay in hospital. She was unwell entering the care floor. The staff contacted me and spent hours talking to me and my family about a care plan, my mum's needs and wishes, what sort of person she was and her whole life history. Following this, I cannot speak highly enough about every single member of staff who came into contact with my mum and us as a family. The genuine care was second to none which was obvious to us every time someone walked into the room and her face lit up with a beaming smile as she could no longer speak or communicate effectively. The staff discussed an end of life care plan with us which was put into place and gave us as a family such amazing comfort as she died.
There are not enough words to praise the amazing staff, the genuinely lovely atmosphere and environment of Richmond Village and as a whole family we could not recommend Richmond Village Northampton highly enough
Thank you for taking the time to leave your lovely review. It is always nice to hear words like "amazing support" and "genuine" being used to describe our care and to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is cared for and looked after. Hopefully you will go away from this feeling...
Mum spent two weeks in nursing care and I can't praise the staff more highly. Mum was happy, extremely well looked after and fully entertained during her stay. Her room was beautiful, the food was excellent and mum's needs were well and truly catered for. I highly recommend Richmond Villages.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review, It is lovely to hear that your mum was happy and enjoyed her stay with us and enjoyed the entertainment we had to offer. Thank you for your recommendation.
The care mum receives is second to none. Her physical and mental health needs are complex, but everyone has taken the time to get to know her and how to offer her the best support they can.
Without exception, the staff are professional, warm and caring. Everyone – from the cleaning and laundry staff, hairdressing, catering, entertainment, the carers and the nursing team, to the admin and management staff – they all deal with mum sympathetically and tenderly.
As a family, we feel welcome and supported too – from the minute we walk through the door. Communication between the staff and us is excellent. They don’t hesitate to pick up the phone to discuss any issues and nor do we.
Thank you again. Managing the care of an elderly relative can be difficult and distressing, but you are managing to make it that little bit easier.
Thank you for your feedback. It is so nice to hear that you feel well supported by everyone and that all our staff are warm and caring. Thank you again for taking the time to leave us your review.
I have really appreciated the tailored care and focus on making my mother the best that she can be shown by all the Richmond care nursing and care team. Mum’s progressing dementia caused a sharp deterioration in her health and well being, prompting the need for us to seek residential care. The individual nature of the care plans and consistent, thoughtful approach to improving Mum’s health and well being shown by the team in Northampton, is having a positive effect. There is a clear improvement in Mum’s health and a lifting of her spirits, as there is a focus on what she can do and what she might enjoy. I am particularly impressed by the focus on understanding individual needs and likes/dislikes exhibited by the team, which has helped Mum begin to thrive in her new environment. All the care team, including the reception team, have thoughtfully supported Mum and my family through the difficult transition to permanent residential care.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are so glad that the care and dedication of our staff are having a positive effect on your mum. It is so nice to hear that everyone helped support you through this transition period and that mum's health and well being is now improved. Thank you for choosing Richmond Villages.
Richmond Northampton continues to offer outstanding service, wonderful activities, fabulous food, and above all genuine care for my mother. Mum has now been with Richmond for nearly three years and what is noticeable is that there is very little turnover of staff, something which is unusual for this sector. The nursing team has remained almost constant throughout this time and they are all skilled, caring and call me whenever there is any concern or development with my mother's situation. The care team constantly amaze me with their professionalism and their care for my mother and all other residents of the home. And, how the activities team are able to entertain and keep active, the residents with a variety of different and new, stimulating activities, I will never know. Once again, thank you to everyone from the care floor manager, to her deputy, the nursing team, all the health care assistants, the activities team and also the wonderful receptionists who treat us all brilliantly
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. It is always so nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is cared for and well looked after. Thank you again for your kind words.
My father came to this home after a very short stay in hospital in November 2021. He had broken his arm and his mobility was not good, so I knew it would be difficult to manage him at home. I made a call to the home as I was so worried how I would cope and straight away the Care Manager reassured me that they could look after dad until he could improve. My father had stayed here previously last year for a respite break and I know he was happy with the company of all the staff. On this occasion it was more difficult for him, as his vascular dementia and his mobility had deteriorated which caused him more frustration, but the excellent team of staff worked hard to pick up his spirits and help him on the transition to coming home. I engaged with a private physiotherapist who went in to help my father with his mobility and they were always accommodating and supportive. All of the staff are so professional, friendly and welcoming and this creates a really lovely atmosphere within the home.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are so glad to have been able to care for your father and help with his recovery and transition back home. Thank you again for choosing Richmond Villages.
Staff are very supportive to me, there are always staff visible and present when I visit. Communication is open.
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you are extremely happy with the care your mother is receiving at Richmond Village Northampton. Thank you again for taking the time to write us your review.
After visiting many nursing homes, I decided that Richmond Villages Northampton was by far the best option and on reflection the best decision, for respite. After only 3 weeks it became apparent that my mother was very comfortable in her surroundings. The care and kindness of all the management and nursing staff is amazing, nothing is too much trouble. I have now made the difficult decision to leave her there on a residential basis. I cannot thank the support from them all.
Thank you for the review and very kind words. It is a privilege to care for your mother and support her family around her.
The care of my sister was excellent, she is suffering from Progressive Supranuclear palsy. The head of care and her deputy were very helpful and kind. Their observations resulted in a transfer to local hospice and subsequent changes in medication. The only problem I encountered was trying to get through on the telephone to either the main number or nursing - it was always voicemail. So communications were not always easy.
We are aware of sporadic telephony issues recently, so please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Our telephony system is due to be replaced imminently, so we do recognise the problem and are doing all we can to sort it out quickly. Thank you for your patience in the meantime.
My respite care was extremely good. The staff was friendly, caring and professional. My stay was nothing but enjoyable and beneficial for me after a hip operation. If I had to, I would definitely opt to stay at the Richmond.
Thank you so much for such a lovely review; it was a pleasure meeting you and your family. The care team have asked me to send their best wishes and to tell you they're missing you greatly. Please come back and see us and the residents for tea and cakes when its safe to do so.

Every day, I am inspired by the wonderful residents who live here and by the dedicated team I have the privilege to lead. My approach is guided by Bupa’s values of being Caring, Brave and Responsible. I have always been passionate about Care and love working for Richmond Northampton with our amazing Care Team and our wonderful residents.

Hello, I’m Karen Chaplin, Domiciliary Care Manager at Richmond Villages Northampton.
I have dedicated the past 38 years to working within healthcare settings, collaborating closely with allied professionals across a wide range of disciplines—including nursing, occupational therapy, and staff training.
My journey in care began in my twenties, and it quickly became more than just a career—it became a vocation. I continue to feel deeply passionate about the work I do and the people I support every day.

I have been working at Richmond Villages Northampton for just over a year now and thoroughly enjoy helping people make their decision to move into our retirement village.
