My father has been at Tuxford Manor Care Home for a year and the care home staff, without exception, have been outstanding. They have a great rapport with him and genuinely care for his welfare during what has been a difficult time with his wife's health problems. They are always happy to chat with us and respect our opinions. The staff themselves seem happy in their jobs which must reflect positively on the management of the care home.

Dad would like to pass on his comments that in his view "they are all absolutely wonderful".

My mum is in Tuxford Manor Care Home suffering with Alzheimer's disease and went into the care home early summer 2023. She settled in very quickly and has a lovely bedroom overlooking the garden and fields which has always been important to Mum. The staff are lovely and always come over to say hello to me too. My dad was also in there for a few years but his issues were more physical. He also enjoyed the company and was able to talk to staff. Mum enjoys having other people around and can walk around freely, both in the home and garden. Some of the staff are still there from when my dad went in which was nice when I had to take Mum there last year. My dad kept falling over and Mum has had a couple of falls but I've always been kept informed and helped in different ways. My dad passed away during the second Covid spell but the home was very helpful at this time. The manager and all the senior members of staff are always happy to oblige. Thank you.

The management and care home staff know how to meet my mother's needs, and are very supportive of not just the resident, but mindful of the impact on the family. This is something we have never experienced in other care homes. The statement that resonated for me was, we are not just responsible for the welfare of our residents, we are also responsible for the welfare of family members, especially those who are struggling to cope with seeing loved ones with dementia/mental health problems.

My mother has been residing at Tuxford Manor Care Home since the end of August 2023 and the whole experience has been excellent.
The management were extremely helpful during the transition and made the move from home to care home very smooth and not stressful at all.
The whole staff team are very approachable, always smiling, nothing is too much trouble and my mother is getting first-class care around the clock.
The facilities are excellent, the entrance has lovely decor and extremely welcoming. The rooms are of adequate size and during the good weather, my mother loved sitting in the beautiful gardens.

Overall, we have been very impressed with Tuxford Manor and rate it very highly.

My dearest husband was a resident at Tuxford Manor Care Home since April 2021. He settled in very well and was really happy and content. The carers communicated well with him. The food is excellent. His room was spotless as was the whole of the home.
They have entertainment for the residents, chair exercises every fortnight and interaction and activities during the week.
When a GP is required, he is very prompt and efficient.

If I had a choice of going to a care home, Tuxford Manor would be my choice.

A high standard of care is given at all times. The manager always has time to talk to the family about any concerns we have, in particular while Mum has been ill. The home is clean and welcoming, and the gardens beautiful.

Last July my mum passed away at Tuxford Manor after five wonderful years in the home. My mum truly loved everyone who works there, and has worked there previously. On her final day, my mum was cared for by the whole team and each one of them came to say their goodbyes to her as we knew she was passing. I couldn't have asked for more from them, their care and consideration was exceptional. From the day she went in there she was safe and that meant I was able to feel settled and have a mother/daughter relationship again.

Mum has lived in Tuxford Manor Care Home for the last three years. She initially moved in with Dad and they were together there for eight months. Dad loved his food, joining in with the activities and chatting to everyone, whilst Mum who has always had a quieter personality likes to watch the world go by. Mum's dementia has progressed during her time there, the staff have adapted to this and treat her with dignity and patience. Tuxford Manor has a homely feel, excellent food and very caring staff.

My mother has been at Tuxford Manor for a couple of months and she settled in immediately due to the warm welcome, care and kindness shown to her by all the staff. She really enjoyed the activities and entertainment over Christmas and had a wonderful Christmas Day. She had been very lonely living on her own but now has made lots of friends and enjoys having so many other people (residents and staff) around her making her feel safe and looked after.

My mum has been at Tuxford since 2016. She had dementia back then and has little cognitive ability but can walk for England. She is always on the move, and the care home facilitates that. She is in a safe and caring environment.
She's had unavoidable falls from time to time, and they have always ensured she was correctly assessed and treated. I work in London, so can't always get to the home easily, but I am always fully informed. The staff go out of their way to ensure the service is first class. I have known them to transport my mum to and from the hospital in their own time even though it shouldn't really be their job. I appreciate their service.

They also put on activities for residents and include everyone.

This is a top care home with top-rate care. My mother has been at Tuxford Manor for a number of years now and loves it. The carers at Tuxford Manor Care Home do genuinely care for the residents, my mother is always treated with dignity, me personally I am also genuinely impressed with the homely atmosphere and attitudes of the staff and carers, there’s a great atmosphere and lots of laughter with the staff and plenty of fun. Don’t think there’s any other care home that comes close to Tuxford Manor in my opinion.

The care home staff and manager have been so considerate and showed true care and compassion. We started with a respite for a few weeks and after the original assessment the local authority decided to move my dad but we appealed as he had settled so well and built trust in the team and fortunately, the decision was changed so he remained there until he recently passed. Highly recommend Tuxford Manor.

My mother has been a resident of Tuxford Manor for 4 years since she was unable to care for herself in her own home. As I live in Australia I am only able to visit occasionally. My latest visit was in June 2023 and I continue to be impressed at how well my mum is doing and how eager she is to tell me how well she is being looked after. The staff and management are very receptive to any requests and I am always updated with any developments regarding my mum when I am back home in Australia. On my last visit, I spent most of the time with my mum in the garden which was a wonderful oasis and a feast for the eyes with all the roses in full bloom. I also experienced a visiting singer who was a real hit - resulting in lots of feet tapping and dancing by the more able residents. All in all, there is a great atmosphere at Tuxford which is grounded on the patience, competence and friendliness of the staff.

My mother has always been very independent and looked after herself till the age of 95, until a fall and rapidly progressing dementia resulted in her going into care. I moved my mother into Tuxford Manor in January 2023 after experiencing poor care at her initial care home. Tuxford Manor could not have been more different. The manager and her staff proved so much more professional and I was told more than once that they see it as a privilege to care for their residents in their twilight years, which was quite striking. The home is clean and inviting with plenty of different areas to sit including a lovely garden. My mother’s dementia progressed very rapidly over the last 9 months of her life but the staff at Tuxford Manor were able to adapt her care accordingly. If there was anything that you wanted addressing, then you just had to let the manager know and it got done. This was a difficult time for my mother and myself, but the manager and her staff managed it with care and compassion to the end.

My dad came to Tuxford Manor Care Home as an emergency placement two years ago and has stayed since.
On the first day, the manager contacted me, taking the time to understand our situation and get to know my dad. She has a caring and holistic approach, supporting the whole family.
The home is very well-run and the carers are always willing to help.
During covid, infection control was excellent and the manager went above and beyond to protect the residents.
At times, Dad's behaviour has been challenging, the carers have always dealt with this in a caring and professional manner, keeping me updated.
As Dad has become more unwell, I am always informed straight away of any issues or hospital admissions and the team has worked closely with me to ensure our family's wishes for end-of-life care are met.
Dad always talks highly of the home and very much enjoys the food!

As Dad, moves onto full nursing care, we want to thank Tuxford Manor for being our safe haven for the last two years, we will miss you greatly!

My mum had dementia and was placed in Tuxford Manor Care Home in June 2021 until December 2022 when she passed away. I have the highest regard for all of the staff at the care home, from the cook to housekeeping and, of course, the care team, all of whom I met during my mum's stay.
