My aunt - Wendy - has been a resident at Millfield for over a year and myself and my wife have visited on several occasions. The staff are always excellent and very caring. The staff were extremely helpful in organising a 90th Birthday celebration last weekend if I lived closer I would be booking my
room there when I need the kind of care that Millfield provide. You should all feel very proud of the work you do

Mum's had a bumpy ride with her health in recent years, and I have to pay tribute to the whole team at Millfield for helping her through it all with good cheer, kindness and calm efficiency.
The staff are such lovely people and so good at their jobs, I honestly don't think you could find better.
I
never have a whisper of doubt that she is looked after with exactly the same dignity, care and understanding when I am not there, as when I am.
As well as the friendly and helpful staff, I also commend the delicious and varied menu, cleanliness and maintenance, programme of activities, facilities, safety and security, and the attractive indoor and outdoor spaces.
It was a fraught time leading up to Mum giving up her independence, but these days I can sleep easy in my bed knowing she's safe and sound, comfortable and cared for by professionals.

My aunt was a resident for eleven and a half years prior to her death in April 2025 . She was 97 . Her care throughout was exemplary ; it could not have been better. She always felt safe , content and even loved ; she considered Millfield to be her true home.
Each time she was hospitalised
she was welcomed back upon her return and every allowance and adaption made for her safety and comfort. I very much doubt that she would have lived the long life that she had anywhere else .

My mother moved into Millfield when she was 102, and while giving up her independence was initially difficult, the lovely, welcoming staff helped to make that transition much easier. They encouraged her to join in - from making Christmas cakes to Bingo, while also respecting her privacy if she wanted
to stay in her room and read. My mum soon made friends, and the carers ensured that this nascent friendship group was accommodated in the dining room, at all mealtimes. The catering staff were terrific, too: the food was always well-cooked and varied, and when my mum lost her appetite, they would go out of their way to prepare food that would tempt her to eat. My mum lived in Millfield for three years. When her health inevitably began to decline, I was truly humbled, and extremely grateful, for the care and compassion displayed by all those who looked after her in Millfield. I really cannot fault Millfield as a Care home. When my turn comes, I hope my children will choose Millfield for me.

My mother went into respite care for 2 weeks in May. She was made to feel very comfortable from the start by the staff, her room was really pleasant as it looked over the garden. All the staff were excellent and looked after all her needs.

It's been more than two months since my mother arrived at Millfield, and we couldn't be more pleased with how things have turned out. After a period of great family stress, it's been a huge relief to see her settling in so well. The staff are immensely kind - big-hearted - and attentive. They respond
to any questions, concerns and requests immediately, and are clearly very fond of all the characters in the home - now including my mother, with her own idiosyncrasies! The care is exemplary and extremely personalised to the needs of each resident. The atmosphere is warm, easy-going, calm and welcoming - visitors are greeted with smiles by everyone they meet, and a lot of effort is put into getting to know friends and family. From the restaurant to the shop, the daily activities and the hairdresser, the facilities are great - plenty of stimulation and entertainment for residents. All the carers are lovely, reflecting on what is clearly the Anchor ethos. I'm so glad we found Millfield.

My Father attends Millfield every 12 weeks or so for a fortnights respite each time. He has done this for several years since suffering from a debilitating stroke. He wouldn't go anywhere else.

On each visit he is welcomed with genuine smiles and happy faces from all the staff. I cannot speak highly

enough about the care he receives whilst he is resident at Millfield, nothing is too much trouble for the staff, they even join in with his singing!

My aunt has been a resident at Millfield for 2.5 years, she is very well cared for. The home has such a nice atmosphere which you feel as soon as you walk in. Visitors are welcomed, the staff are kind and cheerful. The facilities are excellent, the food looks wonderful. There is even an upstairs hair
salon, with a visiting hairdresser attending every week. My aunt has recently had a birthday and for the 2nd year running, the home arranged for a professional Elvis impersonator for my aunt and the other residents to enjoy. There is always a lovely cake for birthdays. When Millfield had first learned of my aunt's love for Elvis, they arranged a wonderful canvas picture of a young Elvis for my aunt to have on the wall of her room. It was a very kind and thoughtful gesture, entirely at their own initiative and expense. Millfield is really lovely home, we feel so fortunate that my aunt has a place there. The residents' best interests are at the heart of everything they do.

Mum was a resident at Millfield for 2 1/2 years. I really couldn't have placed her in better care. The staff were so caring and compassionate and acted in mums best interest every time. Mum came to regard the staff as her friends and part of her family.
Thank you so much to everyone at Millfield for
making her last years so enjoyable.

The team at Millfield went above and beyond in making Mum's birthday special for her and the visiting family. Nothing was too much trouble, we could all join Mum for cake and coffee and she had a wonderful day.
Over the last 12 months, we have been so happy with the care that Mum gets every day, and
all the staff have become friends and it is a joy to visit such a great care home.

Having carried out my own research of prospectus homes with input from trusted friends, the one which received real reviews was Millfield.
So I elected to make an unannounced visit to Millfield where I received a warm welcome and a comprehensive tour of the facility. The tour included a visit to each
department and an introduction to staff along the way. Thankfully my brother was accepted, so to in very happy. I now have peace of mind knowing he is in good hands. Activities I don't know yet.

I find the staff are very hard working. The feeling is that the staff all seem to get on well with the residents and each other. I find if you ask for help then it is soon taken care of. I do tell people that I could live there, that is how high I rate the place.

Last year my aunt chose Millfield as her preferred place to live when she could no longer live independently at home. This was not an easy decision as she had been a very independent person. Since moving there, she has experienced a loving environment, the reassurance of safety, companionship and stimulating
activities. On my visits, I am always warmly welcomed by the staff team. The manager promotes an ethos of family first and personally goes above and beyond to ensure family relationships are maintained. It is great to visit Aunt and spend time in her homely room, where she has an invaluable landline phone, to maintain contact with her family. She has had an amazing full life, it is wonderful to see her enjoying her later years surrounded by love.
Thank you to the entire team.

On arriving at Millfield, my aunt was instantly made to feel very welcome and part of the community. The staff are wonderful and go that extra mile to provide outstanding levels of care to the residents. During the Christmas period there was a very "Festive" feel to the whole home and family and friends
were encouraged to join in the festivities with the highlight being the Millfield Christmas party on 14 December. The standard of catering is extremely high at Millfield both in terms of quality and variety and so it was with the running buffet provided during the party. I am reasonably local so able to visit fairly regularly. I am always made to feel very welcome. It is always a difficult process for relatives to make the transition from living in their home environment to residential care but the staff at Millfield recognise this and go out of their way to ensure that residents are happy and healthy in their new home with each resident's individual needs being recognised and addressed.

Since my auntie has been at Millfield, although we live a long way away, I feel able to keep in touch thanks to the kindness of the staff at the home.
I regularly send emails with family photographs, which are printed off promptly by the manageress in large font so they can be read. My auntie has also
been given a folder to keep her letters and photos in.
The regular newsletters clearly illustrate the many ways in which staff provide a varied and stimulating programme of events to suit the wide range of people who live at Millfield, and these provide a starting point for telephone conversations.
I am too far away to visit regularly but when I have been to the home, I have felt warmly welcomed and was given the opportunity to join a table for lunch, ensuring that I was able to spend more time together with my aunt. Her room is warm, clean and comfortable with staff popping in regularly to check if anything is needed.
Moving to Millfield Waterhead was a good choice.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at the home for several months now and continues to really enjoy everything about it.
We are always pleased with the carers' attention to detail and as the festive season has progressed, this has been even more evident from them and all of the staff.
Entertainment,
fun from within the home and also provided by visiting schools and entertainers have been brilliant. The meals and standard of catering are always first class and the staff have excelled when providing festive party food.
Well done to everyone at Millfield!

At the beginning of December, my mum celebrated her 102nd birthday at Millfield, which has been her home for the past two years, and with the help of the lovely staff, I was able to organise a special concert for her and the other residents. Everyone was singing along to old familiar songs and Mum
was especially thrilled to hear all her favourites. We toasted Mum's health with a glass of Prosecco and the staff brought in a beautiful birthday cake whilst we all sang Happy Birthday. Mum has made good friends at Millfield and feels very content. She is constantly singing the praises of all the staff who are caring and compassionate. I am so glad that we found this lovely residential home at just the right time.

Mum went into Millfield in January 2024 for interim care following discharge from hospital after an accident. She stayed until the end of October, following which she returned home. caring. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

My mum's time at Millfield was sadly all too short. However, she loved every minute of her 10 months. From day one the staff showed her so much love and respect. Their personal approach and attention to detail made her feel safe, valued and cared for. The wide variety of activities kept her engaged
all week and it was lovely to see her grow in confidence and easily make friends. Millfield became her home and family was always made welcome. I was always able to get answers to any questions I had. Outside health staff were an integral part of her care and this was willingly facilitated by staff. The meals were varied and beautifully prepared by the staff who were happy to spend time chatting to Mum. My mum was made to feel like someone who really mattered to them. In turn, I felt happy that she was safe and more importantly happy. Millfield was a brilliant choice for her.

Mum only had from November 2023 to August 2024 in Millfield a short time in which she was made to feel so welcome by the lovely staff and residents.
She was clearly valued and enjoyed activities, company and delicious food. So much to join in with she reinvented herself.
She felt safe and secure,
it became her home.
The staff at Millfield showed so much love and compassion for our Mum in the last few weeks of her life.
As her family, we were taken care of as well.
So many generous, thoughtful members of staff in all the departments.
Thank you so much.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.954)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.954) out of 10 for Millfield is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 46 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.954 for Millfield is calculated as follows: ( (521 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 542 Ratings = 4.954
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Millfield is based on 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6, which has been reached with 46 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
