My brother, who has a Parkinsonism, was taken to hospital after collapsing at home. The social worker there suggested he went for respite to Millfield. We couldn't visit beforehand due to the pandemic but read the very glowing reviews of other families.
The whole experience for both my brother and the family has been so positive. Before he arrived at Millfield we were asked to write about him, his background and his interests so the staff would know something about him. They have all been extremely kind, compassionate, good-humored and very professional. They keep in touch with us all the time, with medical updates and photos of our brother. They also print out photos we send to him. We appreciate this very much as we live a long way from Oldham and are unable to visit at the moment.

My brother is very content. He loves the food, joins in activities and most of all feels safe and secure. Thank you to everyone at Millfield. I can't recommend you enough.

After Mum had a fall and broke her hip she ended up in Hospital for an Operation. Mum also suffers from the early stages of Alzheimer's and when the time came for Mum to leave Hospital her Social Worker stated that she must go into Respite Care.
We were given some invaluable advice by the Social Worker who suggested just turning up on the doorstep to see how different Homes responded. Millfield were ahead by a country mile with their "Yes, of course you can come in and have a look round."
We were given a full tour of the place by a member of staff who was clearly very proud of their environment.
With the progression of Alzheimer's, we had to make the decision to move Mum into the Home permanently and she now seems happier and brighter than she has been for a long time.

The Management and Staff at Millfield really do care in every sense of the word. They have been marvellous in looking after Mum which has given me a great deal of peace of mind. I would highly recommend Millfield.

When our lovely Mum needed a care home, it was a very difficult time for us all. We needn’t have worried, Millfield has been absolutely fantastic and supported our Mum and us as a family during the transition.
They welcomed Mum and our family and her friends, always making us feel welcome when we visited and always included us as a family in decision making.
During the lockdown, the staff have continued to keep us up to date with regular communication and the care to the residents during this time has been exemplary.
The activities are always of the highest standard, and the food is fantastic with an extensive menu, the rooms are lovely, and cleanliness is to an extremely high standard.
Residents are always treated with respect and their needs constantly reviewed.
I have visited a number of care homes in my capacity as a nurse, and can honestly say, Millfield is up there with the best.

Thank you to one and all. Keep up the good work, thank you.

I cannot thank and praise all of the staff at Millfield highly enough. It wasn't easy to convince my Dad to leave his house but the manager and all of the staff went out of their way to make the process as easy and stress-free as possible for both my Dad and I. Nothing was too much trouble, and I was amazed to see him settle in so quickly. He has regularly commented on how lovely all the staff are, the great foo,d and the options for him to join in activities with others whenever he pleases. It's been great to talk to my Dad on face time and see lots of photos and get regular updates. I had heard good things about Millfield before my Dad moved here, but it has surpassed my expectations in every possible way.

Choosing permanent care for a family member is never easy, especially during a pandemic. My dad has recently moved into Millfield, which was a difficult decision in the midst of COVID-19 and we wanted to be completely sure his admission would be safe and supportive. From the outset, our experience has been exceptionally positive. The Deputy Manager replied very quickly to my enquiry. She really understood our anxieties and provided all the information I needed. Because we couldn't visit to view the home, I was given a virtual guided tour by the Manager and the super-friendly team which helped a lot. They took time to assess my dad's needs and his usual routine, likes and dislikes, to make sure he would settle in as quickly as possible. It was obvious we'd been listened to, as he was welcomed with his favourite cuppa and biscuits! Since then, I've had regular contact with updates and photos to reassure me that everything's going well. Definitely a lovely home.

My aunt is a resident at the moment for respite care, this is the second time she has been at Millfield. I would not want her to go anywhere else. The home is amazing. The staff are smartly dressed, kind, caring, pleasant and professional. The environment is of a very high standard, clean and very well maintained. They manage to get the balance right between care, respect for residents individual needs, and a home-like feel. The food is homemade, delicious and residents have lots of choice.

I cannot thank everyone enough at Millfield. My father-in-law was also a resident, who sadly passed away. The end of life care was just how you would want it to be. The staff not only looked after my father-in-law but us as a family too. Making us drinks and food, so we didn’t have to leave him. I sincerely recommend this care home.

I cannot recommend Millfield highly enough. My mum has been a resident at Millfield twice in the last 12 months for respite care. Upon leaving after her first stay, she returned to visit the friends she'd made on a weekly basis. 11 months later (after a deterioration in her health), Millfield moved heaven and earth to accommodate Mum in her hour of need. I've experienced both ends of the care home spectrum and Millfield excels in every conceivable way. The staff are wonderful and will go out of their way to accommodate any request. The residence is clean, modern and fastidiously maintained. There are so many activities and facilities available to the residents and the quality of the meals is superb. As a relative, the piece of mind this provides cannot be overstated.

Both mum and dad moved into Millfield five months ago and I am very relieved that they are receiving such a high level of care in lovely surroundings. I live overseas, as do my brother and sister although fortunately I was in the UK when mum and dad moved in and it has been wonderful to see them settle so well into Millfield. The staff are delightful and we experience a very high level of communication notifying us of any issues or changes in relation to mum and dad.

I am truly impressed with the lovely environment and surrounds and have total peace of mind that whatever happens, mum and dad are receiving the best possible care from an experienced and dedicated team. There is much more stimulation for them with the various activities that take place and mum has the luxury of having her hair done weekly which may sound like a small thing but its actually an important aspect of maintaining her dignity. I can't thank all the wonderful staff enough.

I can not recommend Millfield enough. After looking around many care homes for Dad we discovered Millfield and we knew straight away that this would be the perfect one. It’s so clean, the staff are all so lovely and professional and nothing is too much trouble for any of them. We knew that Dad would be well cared for and that’s all we wanted to know that he was in a safe, clean environment. Millfield welcomed my dad straight away like he was one of the family. Everything was done for Dad, he didn’t need to worry about anything, he loved all the staff. My dad was in Millfield just over two years and sadly passed away in there in January 2020, throughout he was treated with dignity. My dad loved the activities/entertainment the home put on and also the outings they took the residents on. The homemade food and cakes Dad loved too, everything is made fresh. We know that Dad's time in there was spent in a loving and caring environment. We couldn’t have asked for anything better for him.

My mother has been in Millfield since 2012 and she had previously lived alone with a lot of help from myself. After a stay in hospital, it was decided that she could no longer live alone and I looked around Millfield and was very impressed with the home. I feel confident that she is well looked after, all the staff work really hard, she enjoys all her meals and she enjoys going on outings arranged by the home. I am so pleased that she got a place at Millfield.

This care home has a hard-won reputation and in my families view quite rightly. The manager has a team she can depend on. My mother was in Millfield for two years after she had been in respite in Millfield the year before after a heart attack. The care home is quiet and sedate, comfortable, very clean and the food is fresh and plentiful. Family and friends are made welcome and are always offered a cup of tea or coffee with a slice of freshly baked cake. (the catering staff can't half bake). After I asked for mum to be transferred from hospital back to Millfield for her final hours the manager and her team provided care to the highest standard and made a very difficult time a little easier. I would urge prospective residents to give this home a go, you will not be disappointed.

My mother, aged 92, moved into Millfield in December 2018 following a serious fall. Initially, we were very concerned about her well being, as she had always lived independently. However, our concerns were unfounded. My mother is very content and although she chooses to spend a lot of time in her room, sitting at the window, she enjoys going to the dining room for all her meals, meeting up with other residents.
Every member of staff on every level has always been courteous, helpful, caring and kind. She feels very supported and cared for.

When she has required medical attention, it has always been dealt with quickly and efficiently without our need to bring it to attention. All her needs seem to be met and if any concerns arise, we are able to talk to staff for a satisfactory result. As a family, we are delighted with Millfield and can't recommend it highly enough to others.

Millfield is a very clean, pleasant care home.
The staff are excellent and they show a great amount of care for the patients.

My husband, who is a retired solicitor, during his time in practice visited many care homes and Millfield is top of the list. We would highly recommend it.

The first time I visited Millfield it was following a recommendation from the friend of a friend. I knew as soon as I entered that I wanted mother to be cared for there. She moved in following a hospital stay in March and has settled well. Her room is lovely and kept immaculate. She has her hair done every Thursday and nails on Wednesday. The activities arrange and visitors for the residents keep them entertained. I am very happy with the home and have nothing but praise for all the staff. I know my mother is very well cared for.

My elderly male friend moved into Millfield early March 2019 having lost his wife in June 2018. He settled in immediately, the staff were so friendly and supportive eager to gain knowledge of his likes and dislikes. I am so confident in his care I do not feel I have to visit every day to ensure he is ok. His personal care is of the highest degree and he is very happy and settled.

His room/bathroom are excellent - I could stay there myself and as for the food - everything cooked fresh daily - he has not stopped eating - in fact I have had lunch there myself.

My mother has been at Millfield since August 2017 and I feel she couldn't be in better hands. As soon as I walked into the building I was impressed with the feeling it gave and I have been fully satisfied with the care my mum has recieved. The staff are friendly, efficent and always make themselves available. The accomodation is clean and very well kept. The food is well prepared and offers a good choice.
I live abroad and so it was vital to find a care home where we could be completely confident. I have never have any reason to doubt my choice. My mum's frail condition means that she was in no condition to make the choice herself but she has always felt safe and comfortable in Millfield.

Well done to all the team!

My friend moved into Millfield for respite care following a period in hospital. He was very weak and family and friends were very worried about him. What a difference Millfield has made to his life! The initial move was handled seamlessly by the team at Millfield. Within a couple of days from the initial enquiry, he was comfortably settled, safe and snug in a delightful en suite room. Practicalities of Doctors, prescriptions, assessment of needs etc. were all carried out in a timely and efficient way. He spent a very Happy Christmas at Millfield and has decided not to return to independent living. All the staff at Millfield understand his needs and ensure that they are all fully met. He is treated with care, dignity and respect at all times. He is now well on the way to recovery and enjoying life once more. This can be attributed to the staff at Millfield who really do make up a wonderful team. Family and friends now have peace of mind. A marvellous place!

My parent moved into Millfield approximately 15 months ago and since then the family have felt secure in the fact that they are getting the best possible care with the respect that they deserve. Millfield offers excellent accommodation with each resident having their own ensuite room. They are given first class food, attention, and are encouraged to take part in the many activities that are on offer.
